  1. Like Syrus said, the SSCouncil remains a bunch of afkers that has done little to nothing in the past two years. Well, not like they've done anything in the past either, but their apparent pseudo influence is pretty much nil nowadays. I would have to say Polix is probably the only powerhouse of change in Subspace left. In terms of zones, those that continue to develop continue to survive, while others slowly fade away. Bluegoku who stated Hockey Zone was the highest populated ASSS zone has been surpassed by Hyperspace, which is one of the only zones actually gaining population, as opposed to others like Trench Wars that are heavily declining. One thing that did change since that time was that Snrrrub mysteriously reappeared out of no where, and everyone immediately began to glorify him. Although he did contribute a number of things (hosting, chat client, ASSS patches, protocol info) and helped boost the morale for change around here, I think people went too far in relying on him, since just as he appeared out of no where, it didn't take very long at all before he disappeared and stopped helping or talking anyone, let alone provide updates to what he contributed and broke.
  2. Seriously, first the really lame censorship, now going against Polix's original statement to not move threads to the spam forum...* Even I have to say this has become a little sad... *By doing this you're only encouraging people to spam and post more useless content.

    H1N1

I'm really skeptical about those death statistics because the actual population over 65 in Central and South America, the most affected regions, is extremely low, averaging between 4~6% compared to North America which is currently about 12%. The fact that more people under 65 are currently dying is in direct correlation with this.

    H1N1

I'm not getting it and never plan to. Everyone of my age group that I've asked aren't planning on getting it either, though many of them admit that their parents (the baby boomers) are likely to go and get it. It really makes for a differentiation in generations. I honestly believe that the media is seriously overhyping this way too much, like to the point where you don't even hear about the 'recession' anymore. Conspiracy? No. The true culprit is the art of greed. The media is purposely hyping the issue so that people buy in and watch their shows. An informative unbiased documentary is simply too dull in comparison to a sensationalistic story with an end-of-the-world scenario. The government is buying into this hype because people are listening to the media, so the government wants in on the share of revenue, which has the added benefit of taking the negative focus off them. In Canada, everyone states that the flu shot is free... Question is, where did the government get the money from? Our taxes. But no one realizes this, people would rather buy into the hype like they go and watch crappy movies just because they were commercialized on tv for so long. In terms of the US government, yes, it is true that they are purposely lying and providing false information. One of the such is the famous comparison to the Spanish Influenza of 1918, which was put up on their website. Problem is, that's comparing millions of men crammed in unsanitary trench conditions rigged with hundreds of other diseases and health problems, to perfectly healthy people with far far more sanitary and spaced lifestyles. The thing is, how we got to this point is even sadder. People are being preconditioned to react in fear in light of certain sensational events, which allows power elite to easily manipulate the general population into doing irrational things. The new millenium failed, 9/11 was soon replaced with the war in Afghanistan, which was replaced with elections, SARS, another war, H5N1, another election, the financial crisis, and now, the Swine Flu. In each of these scenarios, the government ceased the opportunity and momentum of sensationalism to pass crazy laws and bring about some sort of change that would otherwise have never occured. Simply put, if you can manipulate fear, you have a much greater influence and control over people.
  5. Well asss.yi.org is down most of the time, so if you're looking for the most recent version (atm 1.5.0rc1) with revision history and source, refer yourself to http://bitbucket.org/grelminar/asss/
  6. Although I disagree with much if not all of your reasoning, why not simply send Snrrrub an e-mail and ask him if he would be able to fix it?
  7. In other words... use http://forums.minegoboom.com/ not https://forums.minegoboom.com/ if you're paranoid about the invalid certificate, or you can install the certificate to remove the warnings by clicking here.
  8. I still don't understand the first one... But here's what I would do for the second one:
  9. Use the [ media ][ /media ] tag.
  10. lol nice catch
  11. I'll let BaK have the final say, but I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume, considering it's a free open-source initiative, that any and all help would be appreciated. The goal is to ultimately surpass the current game client and provide a flexible design that is highly customizable. You can check out the current repository over at SourceForge, and read the wiki pages associated with it here (including general info, tutorials, contributions appreciated...): http://wiki.minegoboom.com/index.php/Discretion.
  12. I stick by my solution: disable the UAC. All Windows frustrations now fixed.

    Mod abuse

I was hoping for a better reply coming from you JDS, kind of disappointing. Seems nowadays the only thing you can do is resort to childish name calling - if you want to make your point noticed, you're going about it the wrong way. Seeing how this thread will inevitably go no where, it's now locked.
  16. No, I explained why I listed who I did. Some if not half of those players haven't really set foot in either subspace or ssforum for ages (Dock>, Mr Ekted, SOS, Pyxlz, Smong, XDOOM, to name a few). Some have made bigger or different contributions than others (bots, plugins, modules, servers, graphics, websites, hosting, zones, helping, billers, clients, directory servers, promoting the game). I added Cheese because he provides/d open zone hosting to people who need it, plus contributed a few ASSS modules. I didn't add some players like Creatix mainly because they're closed developpers. To me, I'm more interested in people that have and that want to make an impact in this game, whether or not they're well respected, drama queens, or even renowned outside their home zone. It's refreshing to see people, even if they don't have the skills to do it themselves, propose new ideas and try to help and motivate others (yes, this would actually include you jabjabjab). Seeing how I don't frequent every zone, I can't really tell you about some influential players that have left an important mark in them (DSB, Chaos, Halo, MG, MK, HZ, DS, SWE, PB, T3...). Like I said, it's just a small list of many players that could be interviewed. If it were up to me, I'd go so far as to include controversial players, and anyone who simply wants to be surveyed.
  17. A little bit of everybody, some hosts, some owners, some operators, some contributors... some who play and some who no longer... Dock>, Pure_Luck, Samapico, Drake7707, MikeTheNose, PoLiX, SyrusMX, SOS, Catid, tm_master, Snrrrub, Pyxlz, Dr Brain, Cerium, BaK, Admiral Kirk, freakmonger, Dav, Hoch, Bluegoku, D1st0rt, Mr Ekted, CypherJF, Smong, Doc Flabby, Bargeld, Testtube, larrythehamster, Lynx, T-Man, XDOOM, RiiStar, Sass, Maverick, Mine GO BOOM, Cancer+, Purge, Confess, Altec, Contempt+, L.C., Witchie NL, ThunderJam, Aquarius, Bargeld, Grelminar, Cre>, Cheese, Wonderer, Swift... Just to name a few
  18. Try Smong's Ship Rotator.
  19. Slight update: Made some minor fixes to megajackpot and race modules, hopefully this fixes some odd crashes that occured.
  20. I find it difficult to grasp the idea of their goal. The artwork is nice and all, perhaps a tad too 80s style, but I don't get the sentiment that it's realistically adapted to our current world. Somehow somewhere along the line we're suppose to destroy everything that currently exists in order to revolutionize our system politically, scientifically, educationally, technologically, geographically, etc. Then somehow magically everything will be built with top notch innovations that will provide for a "socialist" society where everyone is equal, no one will have to work (as much), we won't need currency, there won't be religions, cultural divisions, or different languages, and our technologically advanced robots will sustain the entire decentralized system from us against all the elements, against pollution, against ourselves and crime, and so on. It all basically stipulates we (i.e. the entire Earth) grow up with the same education, language, values, traditions, and resources; and that we live in the same place, magically protected from all possible disasters. It kind of reminds me of East Asia's terrible attempts to modernize and/or socialize themselves by displacing, destroying, and assimilating everything that doesn't conform to their visions. Their fundamental idea and artwork are nice, but their goal seems too disconnected from reality in my opinion.
  21. Well to make this clearer: 1. Who's he? 2. What is the reason for banning you? (if he's throwing a fit, then obviously he must have a reason to get at you) 3. What do the zone rules state in regards to this offense? 4. Are you locally banned or netbanned? 5. Have you tried contacting one of the sysops? (for example, Sneakerz) 6. Have you tried, as Sneakerz said, posting on Chaos' forum?
  22. Definitely a great idea, once I can guarantee its stability I'll make sure players will be able to start races on their own
  23. More updates! MegaJackpot was updated, it should now work as it's suppose to. ?start/?stop I finally added the race module which I was working on back in August, then stopped in September, and made it functional today So all races and mazes should now work properly. Use ?start race/?stop to begin or stop a current game. Parameters include -s for ships, and -m for mystery mode. Players can use ?time to check their current progress. Example: ?start race -s(1,2,3) -m Stats are not recorded though, so ?trackbest and ?best don't work yet.
  24. Firefox ignores the error, and no, not a skin error.
