I've installed vista rc1 and discoved 2 things 1. i hate it - it askes you to !@#$%^&*ing "appove" everything. And its slow as !@#$%^&*. 2. continuum doesnt work properly

The LATEST vista verision seems to break continuum....

My directory server is available and has been for a while. It was started orginally as a backup in case the main one failed, as it annoyed me last time that happened as i couldnt download a zone list. However a new role it would seem would be to ensure the fair balance of power between SSC and non-SSC zones. I suggest that at least 3 directory servers should be running in total to ensure choice. Please note the server is not independent its part of the PSS (Play SubSpace) network. It is not affliated with SSC in any way. Rules: - The server is open for all. - IPs that attempt or suceed in intentionally crashing the server will be banned from PSS (iptables ban). corrected you there. I dont think they have been black listed though? It would be a dangerous precedent to set, i think even priitk could probabbly see this would not be such a good idea....

Acctually heres an instance where subspace reflects real life quite accuratly. There are always people like that in rl too.some people in a position of power will try to use it against you. similarly some people will attempt to gain power to oust you. You have to use your power effectivly to protect your self and your !@#$%^&*ets, if you dont you lose. Now this is a classic example of a failure to use your power to protect yourself from other peoples and therefore losing out. At some point you will have to make a call to retain control of what you consider belongs to you. now regardless of the rights and wrongs looking at this purly from a tactical position. Agurus' mistake was to give the zone to tv. If he had just called death's bluff said ok SSC halo is gonna move then if you wont allow me to own to SST. It would have been difficult to stop him. However because of the muddling of the waters there was a a power vaclumn for ownership of Halo because Agurus has weakened himself by saying he was quitting. So when he realised he acctually wanted the zone back there was a fight which he could not hope to win as the other side held all the chips. ie SSC power and control of the server.

yes. i was concerned quite a while ago about the lack of backup directory servers in case the main one crashed and set one up. Details below: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=65215#65215 I do dislike the fact non-ssc zones have that "your password may be stolen" warning come up everytime for each zone you add. I think once should be sufficent.

the biller was lagging then died before SSC Halo went offline.

I think its something to do with the biller being old an buggy I'm sure Cat-ids meantions in his one it has some options and protections it uses to prevent this kind of thing. But im just speculating

The problem is the design of subspaces client-server security is flawed. how many servers wwill let discretion connect....

Hey dont judge my server before you know its spec. My server runs Flabby.tv and getsubspace.com It has 100mb connection. My server runs subgame and ASSS on linux. The server is located on the west coast so will be a bit laggy for euros Im from uk and it averages 180 ping, which is kinda high really. if you can get SSC or/and a reliable east coast host thats much much more preferable to my option.

I can host your zone but there are plenty better options in the forum listed above. rember to add ssdir.playsubspace.com to your list of directory servers.

Its not quite as simple as that, Cont is protected by a number of layers of secuity to prevent just that. Im too noob to understand asm and try and crack it but i have managed to attach a debugger which is more than alot of people have done

incidently i can host a couple of zones for dev (ie 1-10 people online max but to be honest there are much better options out there....) and i have a biller (biller not really that important if u are deving you are prob better to use LCs but its there for zones being hosted by me (its not public) if they want it)...I also host the directory server mirror ssdir.playsubspace.com which if you are a zone owner you should add to your directory server list
