Good stuff. I like the remote turret idea.
-
That's a pretty good system. Which vendor did you build it from?
-
Unless they're sticking a 6800 GS (keep in mind, this has 256mb) into a system with the cheapest parts possible, and unless you don't consider 1600x1200 as a high resolution, then of course you won't be able to play the latest games with a 6800 GS card. Same can be said for the newer cards. Otherwise: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_10.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_6.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_8.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_11.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_13.html You might have an argument with the first link (F.E.A.R), but that's b/c the visual quality settings are maxxed out. Otherwise, seeing that games such as the Source-based games (HL2 EP1, that game SIN Episodes, etc.) those performance numbers are relevant. Some of the latest games now use a system that specializes in the physics of the game, hence those PhysX cards. Doesn't mean that you can't use a 6800 GS card to play them along with the PhysX card. A dual-core system can also help too to a certain extent. Edit: Anything with around 30fps or better would not produce any noticeable framelag.

1) It is several generations old 2) It isn't even the best card of that generation only a decent one. 3) You are basicly wasting money on buying that if you plan on playing games. You might as well spend a little bit more right now and buy a decent card from a more recent generation. Depends if you are playing games at high res, and even at high res the GeForce 6800 (if that is the card in question) is capable of handling the latest games at high res w/o noticeable frame-lag. Unless one is willing to put more money into a computer, it might make sense to go for a better/newer videocard with the package.

Is your HP a desktop or a laptop? And do you still have the HP computer/hardware?

well, it didn't die for the reasons you may think. But to avoid blowing it out of proportion, it's dead for now. Big D, Muslum and I will be working on a zone/project/whatever similar to the concept originally intended for Red Planet.
-
well, red planet is dead/offline indefinately, but it's all good. I'll probably be working on another zone with Big D. (which was pretty much us for the original project). You can remove this topic if you want mods as it has no purpose now.

What do you mean by resolution? We aren't mad at all at SSCI if that's what you mean. Apparently the whole hyperspace thing is still being talked about, especially when the zone used/is using its old port. And again, it bothers me b/c of what I have mentioned previously.
-
Yeah, about that. Today (specifically in the middle of the night) I found out the actual reason why Hyperspace was kicked out/removed from SSCI, and it still bothers me b/c the owner did help me out back in the day with my old projects (which actually led to this). I honestly thought that it was going to released from our original port (it's own port, which was just hidden from directory servers). Now I'm in the middle of another episode of drama that I desperately tried to avoid in the first place. Is there a possiblility of both parties comming to a resolution (as to why HS was removed the way it was) so I wouldn't have regrets releasing the zone in the first place (which would be ripping my hair out, or what's left of it)?

Screenshots. These were taken in the morning after the zone was released: Ore Factory (work in progress; ball goal): Big D.'s kick!@#$%^&* hoverpod from underground station: Barracks (where players spawn): Bridge over toxic moat (to island base) Nexus look-a-like flagging room thing: A base: The zone files are around 7mb. To save you time, just download the zone files here Extract Location: C:\Program Files\Continuum\zones\SSCI Red Planet. Have fun friends, and stay tuned to progressive programming upates to the zone.

!@#$%^&*o friends, just want to let you know that Project X SSCI Red Planet is up, running on an SSCI server. The zone is a pseudo 3d isometric based concept that pushes (and literally pushes) the client's abilities to the MAX; so much so, that the development team was forced to stop adding additional .lvz files and graphics (though we are working to byp!@#$%^&* that). This zone is brought to you by yours truly and the SSCI development team. For further information (seeing as I'm kinda tired to post more info about the zone), visit our forums at: http://redplanet.sscontinuum.com Screenshots comming shortly. UPDATE YOUR ZONE LISTS TODAY!

I find it funny how chaotic consumers were over the PS3. There were over 12 incidents across the united states that involved people getting shot, heckled, or stabbed over the hardware. But that is what happens when the store price of the PS3 is almost 1/3 of what it's actually worth in terms of technology, hardware, etc. P.S. PC Gaming > PS3, X360, etc.
-
hey man, this is judgment day from deva. Good to see you again man, and good to see your new project. I'll be sure to check it out. Looks very promising.
-
Hey mill, it's me judge (judgement day/guy with the silly name). Anyways, glad to see that you're still working on CNL/ss3d. I haven't been around lately b/c of other stuff in my life (school, work, other projects, etc.) but yeah, keep on trucking.
-
Project X is not Infantry (SOE) based.

what happened to: http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=11780 ?

Religion in terms of diversity caused more bloodshed and hostility than any other ins!@#$%^&*ution in history (examples: Catholics, dark ages, Reformation periods, etc.). Debating/questioning religion and that of others will ultimately lead to nowhere, especially through online medium.
-
because there is a free version out there. Also, speaking of this, I would wait after all the antagony with Sony and those in charge of the regular infantry client/system to declare/suggest powerlessness over the free client/free servers. That way, people wouldn't go through all that work and preparation only to get it shut down.
-
The infantry map editor is a nightmare to work with from my experience. On top of it eating CPU resources like it's god's gift to computers, you need to run it on NT mode using 16 bits just for it to work. Anyways, good luck to whoever takes gravitron's challenge.

oh man, captain power was $$
-
yeah, by sucking up to people.
-
you nerds need to start playing less WoW, and more Project X (when it comes out, and the zone won't be called project X, lol)
-
lol, i just found that out just now. !@#$%^&*. Well, I put your ds on my list as the primary. But dl speeds are a bit !@#$%^&*y (though it's not much of a problem).

well guess what...i89gerbils today.
