  1. wow MM, you've gone a long way since the CNL days. Future of this project looks bright. congrats. but would thirdspace run on a Quadro card? I seem to have some problems running on hardware mode. Gives me an error/stopped working message. Could it be a vista thing (yeah, i know I was stupid enough to buy Vista)? I'll also try it out on my office computer to see if that might be it.
  2. What a letdown.
  3. big whooptdy doo. If you watch daytime television (oh I miss those days), you'd realize that girls as young as 11 years old are getting knocked up. pfft, 14 year old dating a 17 year old sick? the 20 year old men who date 13 year old girls in thailand think otherwise. food for thought...
  4. http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue46/subspace1.gif In Kirk's case, it's just a matter of who gets to the kitchen knife first.
  5. Don't mean to be mean or snobby here, but how about someone else, or maybe an additonal person who is not affilitated with SSCC...
  6. lol @ the people who thought SVS was "mature."
  7. see attachments.swSSCW.lvl T3_sw.lvl T3_sw2.lvl
  8. It was only a matter of time. Good riddance.
  9. Apparently it hasn't according to Desert Storm news. tool. to freakmonger: http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=12980 (post #5, hmmm, what can he possibly be financing? ...run our zones/servers/billers/etc? leole) Also, post #9 is a good read too.
  10. what are you talking about, and do you mean SSCC? yeah, forgot the extra C Anyways, his last post pretty much proves my case; he hasn't and is incapable of helping the community, which he rants on about doing all the time...not even a sentence.
  11. Illegal, no. Wrong, Yes. Good idea for Company, Yes and No. You bought a key to play the game and a cd containing the files to install the game, not the game itself. By installing the game you agreed to the license agreement they showed you. If you notice, 99.9% of license agreements have a clause stating they can change any part of that agreement at any time. It is not smart as CS 1.6 is free, and it honestly isn't costing Valve much if any to maintain anymore, but they want to make money. So they'll find a way to do it. Sad some of the best games are ran/supported by them, cause they honestly have the worst history of customer care/support. Unfortunate for gamers, EA is trying something similar, and already it's worse. For some reason, my CD key got resetted for NFS Carbon, and I had to dig into my EA folder to look for that cd-key renewal icon. Turns out it doesn't work. After calling EA, they sent me to the same site with the same stupid program that doesn't work...even people who had Battlefield 2142 had similar problems.
  12. Uh huh, helping players includes: - sitting in spec to rack up usage hours - whining/calling out any zone that isn't named SSCC Metal Gear and how their settings are unoriginal or crappy unless they're on SSCC (i.e. the situation here) - locking almost every topic in the SSC section after looking helpless and realizing that 90% of the time the ticket thing/link doesn't work - boasting about how how you now control SSC and pay for it, when 110% of the money comes from donations. Yep, You've done one !@#$%^&* of a job helping the community. But seriously, i'm interested how you are actually helping the community. By no means, i'm not trying to flame you or anything, I just want to hear it from the guy who claims he's a Godsend to the subspace/continuum community.
  13. yeah, a zone that had a decent pop average of about 20 or so really sucked, despite eggheads like you crying about how it copied EG settings... It's funny how you don't have the the time to review the countless ban tickets sent by the many who were either wrongfully banned or caught in a ban by macID, but apparently you have enough time to post completely asanine comments here. p.s. I'll give this post 30 minutes tops till it's deleted
  14. Ever since Kameloh left, DS wen't nowhere but downhill.
  15. Personally i don't give a crap about the council, not seen them do anything in the time i have been playing this game. (since october 2004 im a newb ) A monopoly is not a good thing, which is the current situation with SSC. There is no reason for them to do anything as they don't need to. The current situation is people can whine all they want about ssc, but ssc don't care, they don't have to, because currently subspace = SSC. Thats the truth. This is where the PSS (PlaySubSpace) network comes in. Essentially we are an alternative to SSC run services. PSS runs the only independant public directory server. (ssdir.playsubspace.com) I'm currently developing SkyBill (a TCP Biller) which when finished will be used to provide the first Public TCP Billing service. good stuff
  16. You know, there are quite a few people/players who were/are willing put in the money, offer serverspace (on a decent server too), and put in the time to help further develop the game in general, but don't even bother after realizing that the council (which suprisingly has control over non-SSC billing factions via the popular directory server) is a joke. One would expect a member of the council to at least advocate the introduction of an updated essential (i.e. a client), though the reality of it is actually the fact that a high majority of these council members care more about their precious zones (which most of them had absolutely no hand in the development of the actual zone initially or in the long run), or some other selfish medium, than helping further improve the game. Irony is that it's the players that are stepping up to help the game develop (whether its graphics, new map editors, ASSS modules, etc.)
  17. Yeah, Shuttle PCs kick !@#$%^&*. There are two of them (one tower, and the other a G5) at the office I work at, and I like the design and build quality of it.
  18. Yeah, this would be great; gives more power to hosts who actually put in the time and money to be more connected to everything, rather than get shot down by the council for petty reasons and such. Also, this might give developers (good ones) a chance to get their name/respect out there.
  19. sweet. now i'm not alone in these forums when it comes to NFS.
  20. If there is a biller that can byp!@#$%^&* that annoying message which scares most players (most relatively new to the game) from playing in it, that would be nice. I'm all up for a new large billing system other than SSC.
  21. !@#$%^&*, i thought it was a chopper (as in Motorcycle) with Nitrous. Got myself all riled up for nothing
  22. Fastest way would be kissing !@#$%^&*.
  23. I'll make this as brief as possible. 1) NO !@#$%^&* there are better options out there. MY point/argument is that although there are better options, the 6800 GS can still handle the latest games. 2) An average of 30fps does not translate to it being unplayable, nor terrible. Low, yes. Terrible or unbearable to play, no. To put this into perspective, look at games for the XBox 360 console: Project Gotham Racing 3, Call of Duty 2, that new game, Gears of War...very hardware-hungry games for the 360. They average between 24-40fps, of course using a 720p HDTV (the same image quality promoted for this console in the first place). That must mean that Xbox 360 is a terrible console, according to your standards. 3) show me the "hundreds" of performance reviews that labels/suggests the 6800 GS card as a piece of !@#$%^&* when playing new games (and don't be !@#$%^&*ing cheap too and pull out 50 articles showing F.E.A.R playing on that card). btw, the tests i linked were done towards the end of 2005. This is the beginning of 2007. Again, this shows how dense you are, when this isn't even up to 1 and a half years ago.
  24. Unless they're sticking a 6800 GS (keep in mind, this has 256mb) into a system with the cheapest parts possible, and unless you don't consider 1600x1200 as a high resolution, then of course you won't be able to play the latest games with a 6800 GS card. Same can be said for the newer cards. Otherwise: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_10.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_6.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...e-6800gs_8.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_11.html http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-6800gs_13.html You might have an argument with the first link (F.E.A.R), but that's b/c the visual quality settings are maxxed out. Otherwise, seeing that games such as the Source-based games (HL2 EP1, that game SIN Episodes, etc.) those performance numbers are relevant. Some of the latest games now use a system that specializes in the physics of the game, hence those PhysX cards. Doesn't mean that you can't use a 6800 GS card to play them along with the PhysX card. A dual-core system can also help too to a certain extent. Edit: Anything with around 30fps or better would not produce any noticeable framelag. So you reply to my post with links to a site showing performance results for a 6800 GS playing older games and comparing it against old cards. That link is from 2 years ago, 2 years ago that WOULD of been a good card to buy. But this isn't 2005, it is 2007 and there are much better cards out for around his price range. Don't try to convince someone to buy a POS just to try to dig yourself out of the massive hole of stupidity you placed yourself into. And no, you are wrong. An average FPS of 30 is horrible for gaming. Do you know why? Because framerates fluctulate. They go up and down and if it goes anywhere below 30 you will notice the change. An average FPS of 60 has always been recommended for gaming. Well it's no suprise that any argument with you turns into you throwing insults, and no actual arguments. I've learned to translate this: It means that you now look like a jack!@#$%^&*. In case you missed what I said, most of these games depicted are the foundation for the newer games. I.E. Battlefield 2142 being built on Battlefield 2, Half-Life 2 EP1, and look-a-like games being built on the source engine, and yes these are some of the "latest games" you have been talking about. So yes, they are relevant. Fact is, you are WRONG to say that you can't use a Geforce 6800 GS to play the latest games, at high res, when in fact you can. And unless you are 1) just dense or 2) a jack!@#$%^&* who's pride is on the line, you'd realize that the benchmarks posted are AVERAGE framerates. The GeForce 6800 series is still a formidable card, and can do wonders when on SLi, despite what you think. To you (at this point, who cares what YOU think) 60 fps might be good gaming, that's fine. But do you think the people who made the game, F.E.A.R were stupid enough to release a game that was "unplayable" on high-end PCs at high res unless you had two 7800s on SLi? A single 7800 card gets around 40 or so. I guess that must be a horrible card. Sorry, but your standards =/= everyone elses.
