I'm thinking... This is just one of many problems that have occured this round which I am trying to come up with a fix for in leiu of proper features in the core. In this case, the proper feature would be a percent merc population limit. However, it looks like its related to what my second biggest settings mistake for this round...my first being that I overdid UP. The second is that I all but removed army size limit, because I thought it was lame to protect yourself just with numbers. In this case, a healthy market of mercs can mean somebody could buy mercs in order to reach army size limits, so I think if I could solve the merc problem the army size wouldn't be so bad...people could buy or sell mercs as needed. That is except for people who make themselves immune to attack by buying spies. I figure the solution to that will be to scale up the effectiveness of spy and sentry weapons so that unarmed covert means a whole lot of nothing. As for the merc problem...I'm trying to come up with something, but I don't think either plan will work. Mercs are supposed to be disposable shock troops, make them expensive and you miss the point in buying them, make them too plentiful and people will abuse them. meh...I think I figured out the solution while I was posting...I'll announce it soon after I've got all the other peices together.

Astro...did you read the caveat? I said Columbia's crime problem was so bad that it is a country which is run by the druglords who have a pesky problem of a government to deal with. If crime were analagous to water, Brazil's problem is that their town is flooded. Columbia's problem is that there are a couple houses left standing in the middle of their lake. First off why must every idea I come up with be branded as some Christian idea? In actuality this idea came from China, who though brutal and repressive, has won their war on drugs. Secondly, what's wrong with Christian-based laws when followed correctly? I mean, I'd first legalize the lesser drugs such as marijuanna before doing this, but your typical drug dealer is worse than your typical murderer. Drug dealers charge their victims to kill them. Not ony that, but these addicts usually have to resort to crime in order to buy more drugs. Drugs have the ability to make any user stupid and desperate almost instantly. A drug dealer can destroy a whole community just by setting up shop and we have watched it happen over and over in our cities for the last 40 years. And our biggest problem is that it is so profitable the minute we take one dealer off the streets, another one takes his place. Our prisons are becoming overcrowded with them. These amount to practical problems for which a capital sentence is a solution. However, the moral reason for this is simple: Drug dealers don't merely cause a single crime or take an individual life, they destroy the entire community around them, and they know they do so, they just like the profits more than the community.

scarface, I'd hate to be a jerk who cheapens your victory, but... First off you did next to nothing. Animate Dreams and JDS did all the work. Secondly Penis clan had the numbers to begin with. Winning when in a match of 17 players vs. 5 isn't much of a victory. Okay, I'll admit that I'm not as good as 4 of you guys put together, but...

Apparently Covert is super useless too... You know, its been a week since I've been able to spend money on anything other than repairs to be honest...and those mercs died real soon.

The statistics are that gun-related crimes have gone down in those countries, though overall crime rates are going up. That indicates that common thugs are more-or-less switching weapons rather than using the black market, though it is making crime worse. The difference is still negligable though. The big way to stop crime is to limit drug use. Eliminating poverty and changing street culture are also important. Really, the idea to ban the machinery is the result of small-minded idiots too weak to go after the real problems. In my opinion, any 1st world country can cut their crime to about 10% of their current level if they made drug dealership a capital offense. Civilized countries aren't used to solving their problems with such brutality, hence why the druglords are winning the War on Drugs. The reason Brazil's gang problem is that bad is because it is a lot closer to Columbia than the US, both geographically and culturally. (Columbia doesn't have crime problems because the drug lords have more power than the government does, so their actions have superceded the government definition of "crime".)

That's actually not the point either. Police officers should not hold a monopoly in the security department. Having private detectives and armed security workers is important. What such civilian groups provide is a bare minimum level of performace for the police. If only police officers carried guns, then every armed criminal would require a citizen to call the police to deal with them. Under such cir!@#$%^&*stances the government could tax whatever they wanted to provide minimal security, the only compe!@#$%^&*ion would be for the office of the elected official who runs the police, and even then its a two party system, which could result in an oligarchy. Thus, armed civilians place a bare minimum performance for the police department. Such private compe!@#$%^&*ion to government agency is critical to democracy.

Lowering it to 10 was to limit massing. Apparently it wasn't enough. You are right about one thing though, I've decided after that post that I'm ditching the policy of waiting until the next reset in order to fix mistakes. If I fix the problems mid-round, I mess up the strategies of one or two people. If I wait, I mess up everyone else.

Due to numerous complaints, the number of attacks a person can suffer per day were reduced back to 5 as they were last round. Additionally a size factor of 5 was put in. The purpose for the change at the beginning of the round was to encourage more action between players. I was slow to act on this matter because I *wanted* people to m!@#$%^&* each other. It was intended as a way for players to take out others right above them. It was to be an expensive last-resort tactic. However, do to oversight on my part, people have found a way to to it cheaply and routinely, causing constant losses due to attrition to most of the players. As a player, I cannot trust myself to make this judgement for fear that I might make this decision out of my own self-interest. However, neither can I trust it to a popular vote as everyone will vote as to what is according to their self interest rather than fairplay. However, a fair decision arrises if the question is asked in the right way: Is it fair to have a couple of players ranked in the 20s be deciding who ends up in the top 5? Unfortunately, I have to change these settings now before (more) players start quitting. I apologize for ruining a winning strategy, though to be honest, those who enacted the strategy have already gotten as much victory as the idea was worth in the first place.

Unless the people who built the core come up with a new version of the army core, massing will be removed next month. When massing is implemented in most MMORPGs, they have a system wherby if the attacker's defense is a certain factor weaker than the defender's offense, the attacker suffers double casualties and the defender loses nothing. For mine it was 4, and you needed an offense atleast 1/4th of the person's defense if you wanted to m!@#$%^&* him. When done with a proper offense, massing is part of the game. When done with an offense that is 10,000 times weaker than the defense its taking out, its just gay.

Airflight is Federally regulated, so its every state. They just don't believe in age restrictions and base it upon real experience and testing. If the 8 year old can find a trainer and get 500 hrs airtime and can prove his knowledge in a test. I guess its just Walmart who checks for glue. However, they don't require id - it only is noticable when using an automated machine. Hunting was what I was referring to. Note in most states children can hunt independently of parents though.

Age limits are strange things actually: Drinking Beer: 21 Smoking Cigarettes: 18 Buying paint or rubber cement: 18 Joining the Military: 17 Driving a Car: 16 Carrying a gun: 12, though you must be 18 to purchase the gun Flying an airplane: 8, provided you have 500 hrs experience in the air. That idea would work for colleges and universities. I'd also say it would work for high schools provided gun carrying was limited to 17-18 year olds. It is certainly implausible for junior high or elemtary schools. (I forget what they are called in Europe...not that it matters because no European would consider this anyway.) However, a safer varient of this idea is to have teachers carry firearms or atleast some kind of ranged taser. What's preventing this type of policy from being implemented is politics.

Its currently .5%

They are as strong as their regular counterparts, but are all as resistant to casualties as untrained soliders. They also die first in any engagement. They could earn income if the settings were different, but currently they generate no income. The best use for them is to protect your conventional soldiers. There is currently no limit as to how many you can buy due to limitations on the core.

Looked it up...this guy's IP doesn't match anybody's. Oh...and for those of you on SSLeague.net who are watching this topic, TRP's post doesn't cons!@#$%^&*ute a formal request. Either come here or mind your own business. Stop sending us pms. For those of you who are not from SSLeague who are confused, click here.

Nice to see you Raem.

It turns out that without the clicker/recruiter this feature does absolutely nothing. The option to make someone your commander is on a screen that comes up when you click on someone's name on the "attack" page.

Well, in a system wide reset bank accounts are reset too. What I meant was when staff resets a single player for various reasons, sometimes the bank account might be left behind.
-
If you choose a new race your bank accounts are reset. However, when staff does it manually that isn't necessarily the case.

Let me see...as for features Vista has, there is a sidebar that you can put various crap on like a notepad, weather forcast, etc. Problem is that it hogs CPU. Admittingly the notepad would be a pretty good feature if it didn't hog CPU and the stickypad wasn't already invented. And there was a feature that automatically downloads "files and programs" which automatically transferred files from my old computer to this one. Programs actually didn't go over, so in the end it was a fancy thing that probably saved me 5 minutes of time. And the start menu is better organized. Finally, it has all these security things which you have to disable in order to get on to the internet through a LAN or run a simple game. For instance, the phishing filter tagged the network with which I connect to the internet as phishing for personal information...in this case the password I use to log on to said network. All in all, the new features go into two catagories: crap you don't need and overprotective security. I'm not going to complain though, because if I complain then some hacking idiot will read said complaint once again decide that Microsoft is evil and waste a bunch of time he could get paid for making a virus which would force Microsoft to add more security crap onto the next update. No Bill Gates is not the anti-christ. Find something better to do with your time. Actually I liked to brag about my old computer because it was a piece of crap and I could still pwn everyone, and having 1024x768 max resolution is a disadvantage.

Okay, but you didn't answer the question I implied: Do Police officers in the UK have a reputation for trampling shruberies?
-
I'd bet that there isn't a person who goes to this forum who doesn't know what film thats from. Most of us probably could recite entire scenes by memory. I for one can sing the Camelot song by memory. In the next scenelett with the police, they happen to be standing on the shrubbery which they trampled. I wonder if that is an actual joke or not.

أخبار الامة الائلستية The investigation of the disaster that occurred at Castle Pwnsthemall has completed. A group of foreign protestors from the Black Mage Labor Union had been at the site throwing rocks at the castle. Apparently a rock bounced off of a minaret and got lodged up the rectum of one of the camels. The camel subsequently knocked over a lamp which set some hay on fire. Smoke from the fire got into the ventillation system, causing the building's fire suppression system to go off. The sprinkers poured water onto the computers causing an electrical short which triggered a countdown timer to one of the peacefull electricity producing nuclear reactors which happen to be missile shaped which were located the basement of the facility. The reactor was quickly shut down by workers, when water suddenly leaked through the crappy ceiling and shorted out the reactor again, causing a massive explosion. In reprisal, all members of not only the Black Mage Labor union but all labor unions in Ailestan have been rounded up and sent on sabotage missions.

Actually that aspect is fair. In theory a smaller army armed with powerfull weapons would cons!@#$%^&*ute an elite group and wouldn't die as often.

I guess you have a point there...anyone who is a Levi can pm me if you want to change your race with no material penalties. L3 Bomb resources will be converted to the special of the destination ship by value. So if someone who is a Levi decides that due to this change he wants to be a Shark now, I'll change your race and give you 6 L3 Rapid Fire Guns for every 5 L3 Bombs you have.

Well, when Dav did it to Keiver, Dav's offense was higher than Keiver's defense. Thus it cost Dav a compairable amount of resources as what Keiver lost. Infact, I didn't care the first time this happened to me either, because Suicide Run had an offense. I didn't realise that this core doesn't have a limit to prevent people from attacking with couple hundred poorly armed troops as it should.
