Few hours in. Definitely lives up to the hype so far, get this game.

No, I didn't end up getting Bioshock. I'll let you guys know Tuesday night how it is after spending a day with it =p.
-
I can tell you right now it's good. I'd go as far as to say I'd refund your money if it wasn't as good as you expected (but I won't =p). This one is going to be insanely good. I predict a 9.8 IGN rating, a higher rating than Bioshock, the current top rated 360 game.

This is still happening. But with a looming promotion at work, DSL issues at home and some personal stuff, it's just gonna be delayed a bit.
-
Coincidentally I've got 6 days I can book off from work that I need to use before the end of December, and with all the good days booked off already, it looks like I'm gonna be home all day Tuesday flying to different planets and kicking bad guys' butts and all that jazz. Anyone else really looking forward to this game? http://masseffect.bioware.com

We had this on SS's anniversary. I don't quite recall if it was as successful as we wanted it to be though. Also, just a quick update: I'm still working on all the details and collecting zone contacts, but I should have something concrete to post within the next week or two.

I don't handle netbans but I checked it quickly and you seem to be a bit late. The netban was issued in March. It was done by SVS and the description reads "Hacking - firing shots with almost no reload time."
-
Awesome. This may be delayed a bit, however, since I haven't been able to do much of anything since my connection has been completely fubared over the past month or so.

If you're having issues with either ping or ploss in HS, take a 30 cycle trace and send it to me at blue(AT)sscouncil.com. I'm compiling a list of them and I'm gonna get in contact with my ISP and tell 'em to fix it, since it's been happening for a few weeks now.

Let me know when you want to record stuff in HZ, on top of footage of a league game (if you're recording at peak hours that is) I can play back some instant replays of neat plays from previous league games for you.

I'm gonna attempt to set up cross-zone event days (possibly entire weekends, depending on zone interest). Currently I'm putting together a mailing list of head sysops (or active delegates) for the different zones. This mailing list is not in any way related to the Subspace Council, it's merely a way for zones to communicate their league and event information to me, so we can set this whole thing up. If you think your zone might be interested talk to your staff and let them know. Basically what I'm looking to set up is a Saturday or Sunday (or possibly both) event day, where every SSC zone gets 45 mins to an hour to host their #1 event (make sure it can be played with a large amount of people) for all of SS. I'll be doing cross zone messages advertising the events one by one. The entire idea is that while your zone has an event going, no other zone will, to ensure maximum attendance. My e-mail is , so get that to your zone staff and have them message me with their active representative.

If it was fast it couldn't have been all that similar to SVS =p.

1) That's a lot of money for a VIDEO GAME alias. A video game which is free to play. 2) I know the person who owns that name, he plays pro. He'll probably never give it up. 3) I've been pushing for case by case inactive name resets since I became a billing op. It's probably not ever going to happen.

Must've been Mackie. If the IP and ID matched I'd have given you the name back.

Well, your zone has PriitK and Pure_Luck. DoCk> never wanted to be on council or anything to do with it, so be lucky you have even Pure_Luck stepping up and joining it, which was more just to have an active TW rep. That is great that you run TWD, but what about fin1 who runs all of EG's leagues? Or Demishadow, blur, and I think nelson and mauler, who run the biggest and longest running league who has it's own zone, Premier League? No offense, but they have just as much reason, if not more in Demi's case, to be on council. I myself choose not to, although I have been told I should rejoin, as it really serves no purpose to me. I do what I need for my websites, and involve my staff and members in what I need rather than the council. It takes a shorter time to get things decided and done that way. Like working to get IGN to do another review or even article on SS, would of been ages of discussion, and no action. Here, I talked to a few of my staff, and got the idea rolling the same day. So really, it honestly is kind of a waste of your time to think about it is all I'm saying. Just because you're on the council doesn't mean you would need to involve it with all of your decisions. Something like theescapist interview would've been a good thing to discuss with the council before doing (if you were on it, that is) in the very least to get some other perspectives, since it's advertising all of subspace, not just sscentral. Anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is that you seem to have a very low opinion of the council in general, and it's definitely something I wouldn't mind finding out more about.

Tell her that you think she's making a mistake and why. I'm with Mav on this one, would be able to offer more advice if you let us in on what this guy did.
-
Hi Reaver. What you read was from the sscouncil.com website, "To be considered for the council you need to be a zone owner or the operator of a major community site." Other than that there's not much that can be done. Getting your name known in the subspace community would be a good positive though, so that when you do end up meeting those requirements and your name is brought up for voting, you'll have a better chance at getting recognized and voted in. Council members recognized me from staffing in Pro and Dueling Zone, helping out Powerball by putting them up in HZ while their server was having issues (also did some code swapping with them), sharing our football stuff with Metal Gear CTF, the minegoboom help forums and various other things I had done since I started playing this game. But ya, my advice is to just help out with the game whenever you can. Get to know the council members (casually, don't go spammin' us whenever we're on =p). It's a pretty lengthy process, however, and no way to speed it up.
-
I'm with ya for the most part, bud. While Priit's done SO much for us and still continues to host (and to a degree, manage) SSCU/X for free, he hasn't really had the time for any SS administration. The council has suggested a few times that people like Grel and Ekted should be given access to the code so they can continue the development. It's always been shot down so we've stopped trying at this point. Other issues, such as new billing and banG ops, zones being added to SSC and basically all other things that don't require Cont development do get done after enough discussion/pressure, however.

What is the record for most zones staffed at _ONE_ time?
BlueGoku replied to rootbear75's topic in General Discussion
I would hope NO ONE thinks population means -constant- people in the zone playing, since that has more to do with your server and type of gameplay (as in, do you need 12 players for a game to be properly played or can you start a game with 2 people and wind up having a bunch after a while?) For example, HZ is never going to have 30 people playing at 3 AM because while we've got a decently large sized euro community, they don't all play at the same time, much like every other demographic of any zone. Your statement on inconsistencies implies that since Devastation, at one point, hit 30 players it would meet the quota. So basically you grouped up zones that average 70 players at prime time with a zone that has, at one point, had over 30 players in it. Not that I'm bashing Devastation here, I've played it before and it's fun, but grouping it with a zone that was the first player created zone to be hosted on the official VIE servers in the same "not real zones" category is.. yeah. I did read what you said, I just chose to ignore the part which happened to be completely anal and nonsensical. -
What is the record for most zones staffed at _ONE_ time?
BlueGoku replied to rootbear75's topic in General Discussion
Wonder if SSCI Devastation counts then... That leaves only these as real zones then: 1. SSCU Trench Wars 2. SSCU Extreme Games 3. SSCU Death Star Battle* *(possibly doesn't meet the quota) All other zones had less than 30 (remove bots, speccers, and voilĂ , 3 zones). So technically, no one's staffed in a 'real' zone. If the pop isn't consistent of 30+ active players, then it's not a zone right? -- But if inconsistencies are allowed, then a lot more zones meet the quota (including Devastation which has hit over 30 pop) Eh? HZ is on ASSS so that means the population that you see is the amount of -live- players that are in the zone. We average about 70 prime time, more when our league isn't in its offseason. As for the original topic: I've staffed a few zones. Started as a mod in HZ in, I think, 02 and I eventually was handed the zone in early 2005. I was a ref and then an SMod in Premier league and an SMod in dueling zone. Actually, I was the Head Moderator in HZ at the same time that I was the Events Coordinator in Premier and the 2v2 League Coordinator in Dueling Zone. And both (well, all 3 if you don't count DZ and Prem as one zone, which they basically are nowadays) are rather large zones. After a while I had to pick one cause I couldn't actively staff all 3 obviously, and HZ was my #1 choice since thats where I started and hung out mostly. So there's my SSC resume, basically, hehe. I guess I have the most upper-staff positions held at once in top SSC zones? =p -
Things get done, they just take time. It took about 6-7 months to get us from the discussion stage to finally implementing the new billing ops a year ago. Same with the banG ops. Whenever someone new joins they're always full of ideas and suggestions and so eager to do their best to help. Unfortunately priitk isn't exactly active, and basically everything requires him to implement. Things do get done though, and the addition of another billing op or two is definitely a priority at this point.

Not online, last seen 5 hours ago Got ICQ or something? You posted this 2hrs ago... I work all day so I'm not gonna be on past like 11 PM =p. I've got AIM (should be in my profile), but I'm usually in SS 6-10ish.
-
Send them to me. Consider us connected.. Uh wait, that sounds kinda fruity. Let me know though.
-
Bingo. Any new ops would have to be existing council members. There were some problems with ops in the past actually selling names and squads so now any billing ops that are added are going to come from the council, which basically means they were already screened and are trusted.
-
There's only 2 of us doing name/squad requests now (kewl and I) so we're pretty backed up. We do a bunch at a time when we're on, but what we really need is two more billing ops to help out. There's a discussion about it now within the SSC so help is on the way. Also, I'm not speaking on kewl's behalf here, but if you still haven't received a reply don't be afraid to get in touch with me in game. Send me a PM or just ?message me. If you catch me online and message me I'll probably take care of it right there and then.
