MTN actually had 17th up in an ASSS test zone years ago, but the problem was always hosting as the zone was on TW's server.

I knew there was a reason I re-installed Continuum the other day. I haven't the time for anything beyond helping playtest when you get around to it, but I'm game.

I = me though.

And to think, Complex only exists because I got a Nintendo 64 for Christmas back in 96 For those of you who played Perfect Dark, the original scheme was to design the "King of the Hill" game mode, and Explody Thingy and I got that module reasonably close to completion. Then my memory fades out to where there was the Complex (which is named for the Goldeneye/PD map btw) map with capture points, and Rifleman was almost done with THAT plugin...but then World of Warcraft took his soul. So I quit staff thinking it would never get done...and then Mav was somehow motivated to finish it. And it was the most fun I've ever had in SS. Unfortunately the gameplay was eventually corrupted to hell, but that's another story. That is all.

One base in the center of the map, make it where greens only spawn inside the base. Each team needs ~200 or so greens collected to win the game (# could be based on pop). Greenweight is also an easy way to balance how easy it is to win based on how many people are playing. You would have to balance defending the base (to stop the enemy from getting closer to winning) and collecting greens yourself. I suggested it to Delic a while back but that obviously didn't go anywhere.

You can't get all 120 stars until you beat the game once btw. 15 remain to be unlocked.

Angled tiles would revolutionize the game. Luckily, there's probably a good set of odds that it's included in the update.

Tis absolutely rock solid. It takes a week or so to get over the transition period, then you'll wonder why you didn't switch before.

If I remember right: DSB is hosted on the SSI serverbank in Dallas. 17th is hosted on one of Prittk's servers either in Fort McLean, VA, or Atlanta, not sure which one anymore.

I'm quite glad that Delic is taking his time and preparing something. It makes it much easier to advertise a reopening that way. Random Suggestion Time: ***Zones that Require .39 should list it in their description/zone name*** On the same token, ANYWHERE that it is possible to download CTM, .39 must be immediately emphasized with clear instructions for install. A few people should get together (like Catid did for MERVbot) and program a few standard ASSS plugins for people to use. Like Linux itself, the learning curve must be broken in order to get everyone to use it. Make it easy. Make a tutorial. With Pictures. Zones that insist on remaining on Subgame should optimize their main arenas like TW for ease of download. Zones that are a quick download should put a (Dialup Friendly) tag in their name/description. This tag isn't exactly antagonistic, so nobody should have a problem with it. The more people we don't piss off before they even download a zone, the better. When SSCentral.com is complete, have ss.net point to it, and gc.com point to the download page on it. If the SSC is just going to be a mailing list, create a seperate group to finance the promotion of SS. Someone in our community must work as a marketer or something. Someone else is probably good with finances. You can see where this is going. I do a !@#$%^&*load of technical writing, and the cardnial rule is always to make everything simple enough for the lowest common denominator to understand. In this case, we're talking people who for some ungodly reason still use AOL.

If the map is shortened, perhaps bounce can be enabled in the prizeweights but the bulletalivetime shortened quite a bit. Just a thought.

Unfortunately I don't have SysOp powers yet. I was given the password, but apparently, from what I've been told it's useless if you're not on sysop.txt, which apparently I'm not >;P! I've spoken with some people about what I'm planning to do. More information will be available once we get to work. Whatever else you wind up doing, ASSS has to be a huge priority. You'll have way too much to worry about without having power hungry botmakers to appease to get them to change one line of code. Plus, modules don't have to be hosted. Plus, then you get to assign certain powers to certain people based on need. Which is something that 17th's needed since the dawn of time. Good luck Sir Cueball.
