Hey y'all. Ok, I realize how long this post is.. but do take the time and look it over. For those who don't remember me, I am Kent. Remember when you were about to score a goal, only to find yourself mysteriously warped to the middle? Yeah, well that was me. Today I reveal my secret to how I did it! I'm a wizard. Oh, and I used bricks. Even better news now.. (hehe.. Kent tells news).. I am apparently a Mod, and have *warpto powers so I no longer need these bricks. .. yes thats a joke. You were probably also one of my squad members... probably only for ten minutes when you learned what a joke it was, but hey... we did come 3rd place in pub league. You may also remember when I kicked your ass in rumble, sbl, duel, and whatnot... Ok, thats a lie, I suck at javs... But I did rule at speedball and dodgeball. My point: 17th events kick ass. I returned to SS a month ago. 17th is kinda dead still, so I tried out some other zones... well what can I say? TW: one hit kills just give me a headache... then people yell at me for tking them in that jav.. how can you not tk in a jav like that? one little rep from a shark sends it right back at ya! EGgames: wtf? thats a pub? whats the purpose? its a bunch of tiny maps into one arena... ok there duel is kinda fun if others are playing, but again - one hit kills... boo. DSB: Seems like it got its popularity by using something starwars... Im not even sure what I'm fighting for.. erm.. dying for.. What can I say.. I miss 17th Parallel. So I sit in 17th now, and this week alone I have had like ten 3vs3 games going on. YAY! We even had 4 guys in rumble the other day.. we just stayed on our own freqs and had a blast.. Well, they blasted me good anyways.. even the noob. Which is why I am the Legendary Noob. I'm putting some ideas down with the sysops.. so far Larrythehamster, Mikethenose, and Samapico are positive on my ideas. Come into 17th when I'm on and I'll show you what I'm working on. No its not a 'new map' - its the old map, just made a little smaller to accommodate a smaller pub. The current one is made for 15vs15... well I want something that a 1vs1 soccer game can still be fun. Delic even approved of this. I could use some more public opinions. Why will this map succeed? Because my goal isn't to get the zone 'alive' again with people constantly playing - my goal is to make it so that when there are people in the zone, a fun soccer game can be played without it being just a dumb race to the ball and to the goals. Or just pointless killing in the center (though thats still very doable and allowed). But thats not why I am writing this.. I just like to talk. Ok, the mailing list.. Anyone sign up for that yet? So the sysops can send a mass email to the hundreds of you guys to tell you when we will be hosting a scheduled event? And when we send you that E-Mail, your going to write it on your calendar right? Your going to tell your friends you can't go out because theres a 17th game going on? I got a better idea! K.. Do keep the email thing going, dont stop - cause there will be scheduled events still. But heres another idea, effective immediately! GIVE US YOUR MSN ADDRESSES I will add you! or you can add me! justin 'at' ogorman 'dot' ca. If there are 4 people playing pub, we will PM you a quick message, just once, that pub is currently alive and that you should come and play right now. Your already online, so we* probably caught you at a time you were available to come play. And anyone on my msn who wants to play 17th, just send me a message if you want to play a 1vs1 with me even. If im not already in the zone, I will probably accept. *we: any staff member willing to participate in this msn alert program whatever you wanna call it. and note, the sysops did not authorize this idea yet. but thats not stopping me

ahh, incomplete = lucozade. bout time i figured that one out.

we had a nice 3vs3 game going on earlier today. the cost of bounce is nice and cheap now - 2 goals worth of points - so everyone was playing soccer to get the bouncies. a neat idea. it lasted at least a couple hours, then I had to go.

Christ, we can argue about how the zone died forever.. no one will agree. I think it's because they kept changing things - sets, maps, the opal thing and whatnot.. even just minor tweaks.. but then a little bit of a recession in players called for an entire new game mode - complex.. leave it up for 3 months with no one playing it then give up and put the old 17th map up and expect people to just come back.. didnt happen... so they kept changing pub map to different things. and obviously someones gonna reply just to tell me how wrong i am. dont really care. yes, the only way things are going to happen is if people are actually playing pub. been said 1000 times, been tried 100 times by individuals, but its a very slow process. you pretty much need 6 people playing to attract new people into wanting to try it, and you gotta do it for more then 40 minutes. New guy came in last week when we got a pub game started, but we moved on to playing other arenas in 17th, then everyone left, and so did he. Been a long time now, I certainly am not expecting any revival.

kents still around every 4-5 month i find myself playing eggames duel, for less than a week... no ones around no more.. i think its the 'community' that made me like this game way back then, and its just not there and i cant care to try rebuilding it with the unknowns....

when 17th had a recession of a population, they launched a new pub called complex. complex being launched i believe september 2005. complex wasnt a bad idea, but it had flaws and bot problems, and after 3 weeks no one played it and they left it on for 5 months. when they put the old map back up, 17th population didnt recover back to even as bad as it was. since then, 3-5 new sysops came in, tried different maps, settings, and other stuff. they had some success but were unsuccessful in the long run. today a successful map sits in pub with 5 year old settings that some people just hate, and no bots are up, so no one wants to play. yeah, thats pretty much what happened. maybe its just cause of xmas, but 17th sure feels dead when no one posts in the forum for 4 days..

mm.. that could be it, silly ss forum here likes to do some dumb change every 3 weeks that gives the forum a days downtime and messes up threads like this.. but just what i said in that post kinda made you php-insisters look stupid, so it seemed like perfect timing for someone to delete the post so shortly after i posted it... lol

arguing on the internet is just like competing in the special olympics... even if you win, your still a re!@#$%^&*. and i like how somebody deleted my post about why php isnt needed and such..... good job.
