we can slow down people with flags but that just makes it really annoying when there's no flag game and people are flying around center with flags guys you're just depressing so i'm just having more fun playing this game than i would writing code to make the game more fun by preventing this griefing sorry

Those items (the kind that describe what kind of pilot you are) already exist, they're just not available with ?buy, kind of like ?buy skill.

Probably didn't give interest? If you didn't use it, why be a troll? Dozens of people were using it and everyone who put in money before I called the thing off has made something. It was kept online for over 12 hours on the first full day or so, but given how it's the middle of summer and I've got no air conditioning, not really a good idea leaving my computer on in the middle of the day unattended. This kind of thing has been brought up for use in the potential team evener. 'spose there's no harm in making your total rating public, though the fun part is always making the numbers actually useful.

Whether you are hostile or not, it is tiring time and time again seeing posts from people who think the things they post are some sort of marvelous revelation to the rest of us and that their proposals are easily implemented (or at least they come off like that.) I don't deny being cynical. My intention was not to be hostile back, also note I didn't deny it was an elbow-jerk reaction post. Ethics of player run bots are not HS's concern, you shouldn't trust them more than you trust the bot owner (and in most cases this means don't trust them more than you would trust any random player in HS.) You will not see a staff endorsed bot designed to misrepresent what it does and scam you out of money. The only thing the UB represents is the "player" being an automaton subject to rules about how it can chat, more or less. I could run a manual gambling service, why would you be more inclined to trust a gambling bot I wrote more? It's as D1 says "GAMBLING IS BAD FOR YOU." Whether you agree with what a mod or sysop does (and no decision is liked by everyone), doesn't change the fact that they are the ones doing the work. If I was trying to be a martyr you would think I'd go around making my own threads about how HS players are so ungrateful. And while everyone who produces for the zone has a personal investment, but don't presume to know why we do it if you think it's for something so base as "personal reasons" and "personal satisfaction." The people that have questions and concerns that can present them in a decent manner are the ones being treated decently, though if that is not how things seem overall it does say something about how the majority of things go.. My bet is there will be another new thread in a week about the same things. On the bright side, this forum seems to be picking up in usage.

That formula I believe is for when you have an interest rate referencing the year (the usual way a real interest rate is shown) but compounding more often. This is compounded hourly referencing the hour. You're referencing a day. The intended effect is to give a certain % (the number was .002416) of their funds to them every hour. (n = 1, t = 24 * days.) This worked out to a good investment over the course of a week but ridiculous over several weeks. I'd like to avoid using grant money. Just would make it easy to be careless about things, and makes running this an interesting challenge.

Interest is compounded hourly, not daily, so it grows relatively quickly. Of course the interest rates will be adjusted as necessary to balance the amount of incoming investor money with outgoing interest payments. Like real banks, if you end up depositing a crap ton of money, withdrawals may be delayed. We'll see who is willing to invest and who has good credit (who wants a loan?) By the way, before anyone brings it up: there's a very good chance certain mechanics don't run like a real bank does (for example I doubt the loan mechanism will be quite the same.) This is just a fun project I wrote a few months back and I've decided to revive. If you have questions you are free to ask me, though I'll probably eventually write a !faq command too. Edit: After making some deals with some investors I'll probably keep things safe and tone down the interest rate to a level that is still good (really any significant interest rate is good, because it's making more money than it would sitting in your account) but something that won't break down the bank after two months when someone invests $5 million. (lolz the current rate would yield 3200%, I just wasn't thinking enough about how it'd grow in that time, meh) The general deal is your available balance will also hit a ceiling (possibly a million) due to what I said above. So if you're planning on growing large amounts of money in the bank you'll have to take it out slowly enough to keep things running smoothly. If you deposit some large sum of money I'll probably ask you to become an investor just so the less fortunate in the zone can get maximum enjoyment from this, the rich don't need to get money as fast. I'll try to get the bot up once a day, !about or !help has some scheduled hours but I can't really commit to them yet, I'll figure out what works best soon (yes, your money still accrues while it's offline, so the benefit of it being online is solely to deposit/withdraw.) If I'm online but the bot is not and it's not 4am you can feel free to ask me to put it up. Features to come: loans. If you're not a !@#$%^&* you can get some advance money. If you run off with it then you're just going to forfeit bank services for life. I'll figure out some other form of collateral if it needs to come to that. Might have some sort of bond system where you can deposit your money, but it will be inaccessible for a while, but gain better interest. Both of these functions would have to be manually set up per user, as automation of that stuff would really get out of hand.

Don't forget that there were two bank bots before, one was not legit (HS-BankBot or something), and one was (UB-Bank.) UB-Bank didn't have issues, the other one was a scam. Not only are things stored in a reliable database but transactions are logged. The rates are in !help.

And the reason it didn't work is because they were being spammed so ?away wouldn't activate, now they don't get spammed.
