  1. Hmmmmmm, I was thinking about this... Questions: 1) Is it possible to know if Discretion is installed on a system, and where it is? Any registry key or something? 2) Can LVZ's be loaded for the offline map? 3) Can the offline map be reloaded instead of having to close the map and come back? i.e. the equivalent of ?go when there are changes made to a map and you're already in there. 4) (Related to 3) More importantly, would it be possible to trigger this from an external program? i.e. with a WindowMessage or something like that? Plan: 1) I'd add command line arguments like '-offline ' to start the offline practice mode automatically, if is specified, it uses it for the offline testing. 2) It would need to also load .cfg settings, and a list of LVZ files, using custom gfx and sounds in those LVZ's if applicable. 3) If you make modifications to the map in DCME, and hit 'test' again while Discretion is already running (and in offline mode), it would simply reload the map. 4) DCME would check if Discretion is installed, and use it where it is installed if it is. Else, it will offer you to download it before using the Test feature. (I'll have to modify the (sucky) update manager to allow optional downloads) I know all of these things 'can' technically be done, but do you see any potential issue, or things in the architecture of your program that would make some parts of it impossible? All of these things need to work only for offline mode, and maybe there are some security issues that could, I dunno, allow someone to load any map from DCME in the zone he's in or something? PS: I just updated my SVN Discretion folder... lol: 94,37 MBytes transferred Added:2919 Deleted:42 Updated:174 Nice. I still have lots of things to do with DCME before I get there, though. Edit: Changed topic title from 'lightweight stand-alone client' to something that makes more sense now
  2. Is your desktop still at 1600?
  3. You edited your post you sneaky bastard
  4. Scene 1: trenchwars.org (5 seconds) Scene 2: this
  5. Also, it means that it's better to put up a half-assed video right now, than to work on a video that is actually good, but will take you a few months to finish and upload
  6. Good point
  7. Can I skip the 'make a video' part and go straight to the 'win 20" LCD monitor' part?

    GO DIE PC

    That's like... a half-compliment
  9. We should have a clear FAQ about this
  10. Your office is 600m large? ... Airport still? And yeah, that is pretty old. I just discovered xkcd a few days ago, actually
  11. Since the tile editor I had made was full of bugs and I didn't want to continue supporting it. But you can specify any other program you want, like GIMP or whatever, if you check the preferences, file associations tab. On a side note, I'm glad it seems to open Paint correctly on Vista lol... had no way to check, really. Maybe I'll compile the old tile editor we had in its own exe, and make it available for download if people still want to use it. But I strongly recommend GIMP, it's free, and it's not bugged like my editor
  12. Read this thread: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=20550
  13. On a side note, if you like MechWarrior, check out MechWarrior: Living Legends. It's a full conversion mod for Crysis, and it looks great. Though I doubt I'll be able to run it
  14. RRL matches will probably be hosted on Sundays around 3pm EST; this way we can cover american and european time zones.
  15. Cool, you're not the only one who had trouble with Vista+DCME, this will certainly help.
  16. ... http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=4 I obviously meant comct332.ocx
  17. However, we might want to design new graphics/sounds for Discretion We could do much nicer things because of the alpha channel for transparency, and one day or another, Bak will need graphics. We probably could have different explosions too, smaller ones for smaller bombs, and bigger booms for larger bombs, for example.
  18. Hmmmm, are these things using Integers or Longs? VB ints are only 2 bytes That MD5 code was taken from somewhere, we didn't change anything in it though
  19. Did you try downloading the comctl32.ocx file? You can get it in the downloads section here. Put it in the same folder as DCME. The sku112.cab file appears to be an installation file of Office, though... I have no idea why it would search for it.
  20. Oh yeah, I heard that one too... I don't understand why they'd release a game for free though
  21. Why is it the first time I hear about Bing?
  22. (It's supposed to be 50 mph) Or 80.4672 km/h
  23. It's PC/Xbox360
  24. The high packet loss doesn't mean much. Some servers drop a lot of ping packets on purpose to avoid being overloaded
  25. It seems topic icons don't show up anymore on the index I am sad. Is this a skin thing, or IPB3 thing?
