  1. Ban Ban Ban!!!
  2. Ummm ailereon, don't you think your ship and character are a bit too powerful? Plus you have all those weapons on you. As to this, i know youre just trying to peturb me. Theres only enugh room for one envisi-ship, plus yours is huge. A hull of this nature only works when the hull is very smooth and rounded, not a big clunky battleship. Take a cloak or something, not my ideas. And paine, 18,000 Km/H is a little fast yes? If its going to go that fast, make it use a warp drive or something... normal thrusters cant make stuff go that fast.
  3. Sure. I don't know exactly what all we need but ill go aheadand put soem stuff down. For reference: 1 atmosphere= atmospheric resistance of earth. (.5 atmosphere= half resistance, etc) Player specifications Name: Johann Valtreik Race: Human Faction: Terran Thingy Age: 26 Gender: M Call Sign: The Maurauder (Maur) Weapons (carried): A convertible laser rifle of unknown origin, 5 plasma grenades, a high-power emitter laser pistol, and a CPCB (Concentrated Plasma Concussion Bomb). Abilities: An excellent pilot and gunfighter, he owes most of his skills to the Academy on Prxion 6. Although his ship is stealthy, he himself is not. Ship Specifications Name: TSS Gauntlet Runner (Not printed on hull) Weapons: Rapid-fire pulse cannon, light EMP torpedo launcher Armor: None Shields: Light Max Speed (No atmosphere): 4,853.5 Km/H Max Speed (1 Atmosphere): 2,722 Km/H Propulsion: Single-Shaft Fusion Drive (Prototype) Appearance: Teardrop shaped hull with 2 weapon chutes along bottom. No discernable !@#$%^&*pit. Entire hull is coated with silver material which reflects 99.99% of light. Length: 6 Meters Annoying scientific notes: A convertible laser rifle is a weapon that can switch between a sniper rifle and an assault rifle automatically. Also, a fusion drive is a rare top of the line form of propulsion still being reseaerched by most of the factions. A ship using a fusion drive as its only source of propulsion is untraceable by scanners. Only a few prototypes are said to exist. The Gauntlet Runner is untraceable on all scanners except for photon diffussion scaners. Although it is virtually impossible to see in dark areas, when it is in bright light, it is possible to see it. Since it reflects light, anything near it is visible on its hull. For example: If the Gauntlet Runner is flying above a forest, not only would it cast a shadow, but from above it would reflect the color of the sky.
  4. Cool, when can we get started? And can we have custom ships such as mine?
  5. Leave it open for people. For example: My ship of choice for the last rpg and this one is a tear-shaped ship whith an extremely shiny coating which reflects 99.99% of all light. Its only weapons are a single-barrelled rapid fire pulse cannon and an EMP torpedo launcher. (Equivalent to a fast shooting lv3 stream and a lv1 emp bomb) It is very fast but has virtually no armor. Other than its hull and silver coating (easily piercable by almost any weapon) it is protected only by a light energy shield.
  6. Why barr them when they can simply be monitored, with all their specifications and abilities (cloaking etc) listed on character thread?
  7. Thats why i said their ship and its abilities/weapons must be listed on their character post. Then when manus approves their character, he also approves the ship, which must be gagued not to be too powerful. About the parent/child factions, i like the idea. I simply don't think that it should be called a "child faction." Let it be named a guild or something. About being based on ss, this rpg isnt ss ships only. Stockholm, if you had played it before (as i have) you would understand. Sure, you can fly a jav or whatever you want, but being limited only to ss ships and variations is lame. Half the fun of this game is making your ship and showing off what it's special features are. Again, if you had played the old rpg that was here you would understand. Some people flew modified ss ships; some others, like me, flew ships that didn't remotely resemble ss ships. Also, why should you have to call a modified ship a "capital ship"? I simply see very little point in that.
  8. Stockholm, i wasnt saying to use a "Character sheet" or anything. Wat i meant by a character thread was to list your character and their background and ship, etc. Numbers are bad in a RPG like this one. I am the one who said NOT to base it around ss, because it isnt. It's a space rpg, not a ss one. The ships arent just warbird javelin etc, although some people did this on the last RP here. I participated much in that, and i can truthfully say there were only a few problems. One of them was that everyone was posting their things in one thread. The was a huge battle going on and then someone wouls begin typing about how they were doing something on some space colony 100 lightyears away. It was confusing, and that is why we need multiple threads. The oher main issue was that people would try to make their own story and make it overrun everyone else's; i distinctly remember someone bringing a huge battlecruiser into the game last time on their own accord. Things like that are the GM's job, not the players'. I don't know why you are bashing me stockholm, because you basically restated what i said. Maybe your are arguing against Aileron? Anyways I also believe that numbers and strict limitations are bad. Only being able to use the 8 ss ships is REALLY lame, and that isnt how this RP worked last time anyway. To Manus: Keep it the same as last time, but require charater and ship specs to be approved and don't let people take the plot off on a tangent and then throwing everything in the RPG off. Be sure to keep a handle on things. Keep it interesting, but not out of control and create multiple threads as i stated above. To Stockholm: Try to remember who you are arguing against. :maur:
  9. It isnt fun if you are limited to only a few ships, etc... This coming from a 6-year DM (D&D). The following are my suggestions regarding your questions: 1) The player interaction should be separate from battles and adventures and such. I suggest creating a thread for each major location (the station, planetary systems, and in cases where a planet has an important role, the planet as its own thread) and a separate thread for the bar or whatever our main interaction point will be. 2) We should be able to interact as freely as we wish, but there will always be consequences. You be the judge manus; if someone does something too wild, then they will be imprisioned, shot down on an uninhabited planet, etc... 3) Of course npcs must be used! You should create as many as you need to further teh story, but remember that you will have to keep up with them all. For example if an npc fighter pilot saves a character in a game, the npc cant just dissapear after the battle, their life has to continue just like all the pcs'. As for players creating npcs, they should have to approve them with you first and should be limited at a max to one player created npc for each character. An acceptable player created npc would be a sidekick, spouse, etc so long as the characters stick together. If one leaves the area of their pc, then you (the GM) will take control of them and may or may not return them to their pc's control. 4) As i said, give each major location its own thread. For example, some uninhabited planetary systems could only take up one thread, but some important planets (such as a capitol planet or major military base) could take up an entire thread themselves. Also, in the case of a very large battle (2+ flagships, multiple smaller battle vessels, and up to hundreds of fighter ships involved) an entire thread could be created for this. These threads would be pinned, and after the battle concludes, they will be locked. For example: the Federation military base Gamma-3 (which already has its own thread)is !@#$%^&*ualted by the Alliance, who brings along 3 frigates and multiple gunships to destroy the base. A new thread would be created for this battle only, and would be separate from the Gamma-3 thread. In the case of a planet/base/system being destroyed, the thread would be locked, but never deleted. 5) In my opinion you should not be able to create your own factions. You could create your own guild or similar noun, but this would be limited to only a few members, and would be an enemy to everyone else. Of course there are sub-divisions of the different factions, and these could be squadrons, battalions etc. 6) Yes, all forum rpgs ABSOLUTELY need a chharacter thread. It would be approved by manus before being allowed to participate. Your ship's specs woyuld also be here. Any new aquisitions (such as a new ship, weapon systems, etc) would have to be listed here. If it isn't on your character post, then you cannot use it in the game. On another note i suggest not limiting ships to those found in ss as aileron suggested. At most i would set the limitations on weapons to those in ss. Never limit the ships themselves.
  10. Manus, i say you start something up
  11. I dont get it either.
  12. || || V
  13. Stylez, ask on e of the sysops about it. Keep in mind though, it will probably at best be a friday map. Just because you made it doesnt mean it has to go up, i learned that a long time ago. Be patient and don't be a nuisence about it. If the sysops wat to put it up they will, if not, they wont. End of story.
  14. Seems liek a good contender for pub. Joker I do have one suggestion though. If you cant take criticism, get out of teh mapping business. You have lashed out several times when people offered constructive criticism. Although you haven't done it every time, doing so makes people not want to comment. I say these things from experience.
  15. As people have stated before, East/West gameplay is more natural and comfortable than North/South. The center is a little large, and teh bases are a bit big as well. Maybe it's just me but it seems like pub got super-sized... Would you like fries with that?
  16. Spider is supposed to be weak. Have you noticed what a burst can do now? You used to maybe kill 1 person with one. Now, if you burst carefully, you can take out like 3 enemies. It is an ambush craft, not a fighter. As for the map, I still say that the bases are pretty far apart and large.
  17. Happy Brithday Kyla!
  18. DKR, It's not exactly old TO, things changed. Weasel has lv2 bullets, and terr is back the way it was a LONG time ago.
  19. First off, im glad to at least see some change. It shows that the upper staff have finally taken a hinto to the steady decrease in pop and have decided to do something about it. I like the settings change overall, but i do not like the new Terrier as much as the one we had until recently. One reason is that i have recently witnessed multiple people placing all their mines in one spot with a decoy over them. Although this could be done in the other Terrier, this strategy rarely produced kills. Now however, a lame kill is produced 99% of teh time. As for the map, i have mixed feelings as well. It is good for a change, but i just don't see it working permanently. The pases aren't the same and therefore there are slight advantages to certain frequencies. Also, the flag play is now even less intertwined with the ball game. I like change, but certain things need to go back.
  20. lol, once insane, always insane... same goes with bans... :maur:
  21. 17th Pwnzorforageosizes J00!
  22. Theres a screen for PS2. Yeah the monitor-in-case looks cool.
  23. The moveable flag just doesnt fit in, its liek taking a flagging zone and putting a ball and goal in the middle...
  24. My opinion is to put the flags back in bases, but to spread them out. I am thinking 12 per base (Don't freak out though!), but the further you go into the base, the more flags there are. For example there would be 2 near entrance, then 4, then 6 near goal. The further the enemy pushed into the base, the more flags they got, thus making the defense of bases more crucial. If this setup was used, the flagging game would be seamlessly integrated with the ball game.
