  1. Okay, you asked for it, son. Nit-pick time. Tap water aren't free, YOU (or your parents), ALSO, pay for them. The vendor on the street who sell you the water pays for these water. You CANNOT get water for FREE elsewhere (unless you steal, or purify lake water) or readily available for FREE at your leisure. You CAN get SubSpace for FREE, ANY WHERE, ANY TIME While a Government owns your country's water reservoirs, none essentially owns water themselves. Anyone is allowed to sell them (so long they register as business and abide health inspectors guidance). SubSpace is OWNED. There is an unofficial agreement, due to some functionary factors, which allows us to operate SubSpace for FREE. None is allowed to sell SubSpace, unless permitted by owners (which wouldn't know they owned it in first place if we hadn't contacted them that first time). Same way this community been doing it for nigh 10 years. Free Of Charge. Look up the word "volunteer". vol⋅un⋅teer –noun 1. a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking. 2. a person who performs a service willingly and without pay. Hosting companies, and advertising companies at that (since essentially, this is these portals' entire leverage), charge a flat fee from the CLIENT, in this case US, for their service. NOT potential CUSTOMERS of US. This is how they fund their bandwidth. You either rent bandwidth, or buy a server hosting from a data center, and then you put stuff up there. And YOU foot the monthly bill for it. Not the people who VIEW YOUR WEBSITE. This isn't SomethingAweful, we don't charge (nor have the leverage to, at that, if we're going to talk marketing/business here) people to participate. SubSpace is a FREE MPOG, a subscription, or retail, of any sort, will be akin shooting ourselves in the foot, from any and all perspectives. How about YOU pay for it? How about you offer them a $500 advance on the first 100 people to download? Prick. The entire idea here is that people who have no clue about SubSpace catch wind of it. Where do you come off with this "do his homework" bull? People who search for SubSpace already do know of it, so why do we need a portal that charge them money for it to tell them of it? This is bent out of mind retard'o-logic. Consider that it is also ILLEGAL. Downright ILLEGAL. They're charging money for a piece of software, an IP, copyrighted IP, which was either designated to be exclusively distributed FREE OF CHARGE or is distributed for fee WITHOUT CONSENT OF RIGHTFUL OWNERS. THIS IS PIRACY. If crime enforcement had clear cut case of who does it and who they are, where they are, and good evidence to easily file charges and put them in jail (not to mention high fines) they WILL. IT IS ILLEGAL. I'll repeat, say again with me: AGAINST THE LAW!!! And you may want to look this combo up, as well. Rip-Off –noun Slang. 1. an act or instance of ripping off another or others; a theft, cheat, or swindle. 2. exploitation, esp. of those who cannot prevent or counter it. 3. a copy or imitation. 4. a person who rips off another or others; thief or swindler. Polix, bill him for $5 for viewing this website, please. Then tell him to go do his research and find the direct access url so he can post for FREE. Yeah, I'm starting to think you have some vested interest in this. Do YOU also get a CUT? DO YOU? No, this isn't business. Bottom line is SubSpace, the game, the FUN. No one is here to make dollars out of this...except you, it would seem. Especially given the way you vehemently argue in favor of such a scam scheme. I sure hope you DO go through with this, and then get SUED, somehow. I know I'll be first in line to help anyone who'll be seeking damages against you. Scum. For an alleged 30 YO, you have the mentality of a 14 YO delinquent and a racketeer. The less of your ilk to populate this Earth, the better for the entirety of humanity.

    BDE

The more you speak, the more stupid you appear to be. Yes, they are interested in getting money over the client being SOLD by someone else while they can just sit back and collect checks. Which is exactly what I've said. (Not to mention, AGAIN, how immoral of US to allow it would be and howHARMFULLY DAMAGING to our community, this game, and the collectivereputation thereof it will be. It still does not mean they're willing to provide any sort of support for the game. So, how is my argument wrong at any level? I never said they won't do it, of COURSE they'll do it. It brings them money for doing practically jack shit nothing at all. What sane commercial "for-profit" company would refuse such an opportunity to exploit their IP? And I believe that the continuum license falls under the aforementioned unofficial agreement. I'm done handling kids. Summon forth Hoch (is he even still around?), let the (official Subspace) professional lawyer explain it to the herd.
  3. Bottom line: you are going to make people PAY $5 to download a game that is offered for FREE to anyone who wants to play/download it. In every ethical book this is A SCAM. And if for one moment you think any user who has been scammed is going to say "oh well, it was just 5 bucks, lets keep on playing the game" then you are also a FOOL. You are NOT a representative of this community and this shit WON"T float. Furthermore, anyone who think that it's okay should just take their $5, and give it to Polix, or whomever. Or, make a poll of all that money, and use it to buy ad space, or hire a coder, ROFL. There is nothing more pissing than juvenile hypocritical twits who stand on the sideline, play for FREE, and then say "well, $5 isn't much for this game, I don't care if they charge OTHER PEOPLE".
  4. I always liked the L3 green bombs the most, way better than current L4 violet/purple, IMHO. GHOSTING!!!!

    BDE

We've had contacts with BDE in the past. Bottom line is, they have some unofficial oral arrangement with us/Priit that we can do what we want so long the game stays free (IE none is making money for something they own). They won't do jack for the game unless it can bring them profit in doing so. Last time the ©s were mentioned they demanded a six figure. There's nothing for us to look with them.
  6. Of course they are happy. They can just sit back and collect money for doing absolutely nothing over a FREE GAME. The catch is that this is MORALLY WRONG and will ALIENATE FUTURE USERS and dub us as a COMMUNITY OF FRAUDERS.
  7. Okay, I might have screwed up. Cash Company, perhaps? Eitherway, there's an old term which is pronounced on similar vocals which refers to a company that exists solely as a legal entity, does not conduct any business or employ any work force or produce anything, merely serves to write assets under its ownership as to separate them from the real owners and protect these assets from the owners' liabilities and/or to draw loans on account of these assets whilst the owners would be denied. For all other intents and purposes this company is by mere name only and is fictional in every other field save the legal.
  8. Kindly wire Polix "just 5 bucks" for your use of this website. Thank you. (Failure to comply may result in a ban until next month when you can sign in for free. This may reoccur every two months.)
  9. WE pay THEM to HOST/ADVERTISE our GAME/CLIENT or Potential USERS coming through THEIR site PAY THEM to DOWNLOAD the SS client? Eitherway, there's breach of ©s that we basically don't own, and while I doubt anyone would go complaining over it, it's still portal-faggots making profit over something that is meant to be free without people who deserve to see that money (like priit who pays for the bandwidth essentially, or people who pay to host these fan sites, whoever host bots for Pro League, and so on) ever getting a dime. I vote NO, purely on moral grounds. Also, whenever users who come through this learn they paid $5 for FREE GAME (if that's what these services are requesting), they're going to be pissed and troubles ensues. So this is twice ethically wrong, and on that basis I personally wouldn't contribute my hand in such an endeavor.
  10. HAVAC (Seals), Talisman (Marines), ZombieBobie (Rangers)...there were many others.
  11. My apologies, I've provided inaccurate information, which is the worst. The people who own BDE also own an asset cache company called Ozaq2 (or Ozaq3?) which is where the assets they've acquired from VIE, alongside SubSpace, are stored. BDE itself, as a company, has nothing to do with, and no knowledge of, SubSpace's copyrights. Were you to approach them they'd likely be baffled.
  12. Or, you'd notice that I actually had posted these at different dates? So, I see you've deteriorated to the level of a kindergarten. Pity.
  13. Well, I've signed up for the Sites of the Final Call (ironically, nolonger exists) ring's oath to be there when they pull the plug on thefinal server. Although the vow they have taken was primarily for the upcoming, at the time, demise of VIE, I believe it has since been extended, due to player-ownedserver/networks, to the literal last SS zone to go down. So, until they shut down the last one, I'll be here, still. Likely to be the sole representative still left 'playing' (or around) the game. Einexile, Conspiracy Theory, Minbari Warship, here's looking at you, old friends. You are sorely missed by this old geezer.
  14. I'm honestly having a hard time deciding which because, last I knew, there were so many...Will naming names really ruin anything at this point, Polix? Yes, I know, it's a drama stirring more than anything but, honestly, I tire of political BS and lies and masks. I want the real douches to be reckoned for what they are. People without dignity need not have their shameless self given a shield of anonymity out of undeserved respect. Personally, I've worked with free-pro-bono coders on many projects that failed because they lacked the interest and motivation to keep on going so I pretty much bounce from one project to the other, contributing what I can to each. I just keep on going hoping to find that one awesome and self motivated talented coder that'll make my design dream come true. To find my (very own) "JeffP". My current project is also suffering from the "one coder guy who appears and disappears at will and hold all the source" syndrom. I personally don't want to open source it, and neither does he, but I'd like to be able to bring in other coders, if possible, to keep developing, alas I cannot as he holds all the keys to the kingdom. But, I've grown accustomed to it by now. I know they'll come and go as they please. I know they have "all the power" so to speak, because without them my ideas are just ideas. And I know they have personal desires, lives and so on. So it's ok. We both try our best and what happens - happens. I don't really know snrrrb, and I am not going to hold him to blame. He probably did what he thought to be best. I do know Alex to a good degree, and I know that saying he's putting his ego in front of SubSpace would be wrong. At the end of the day, different people have differing ideologies and personalities and things which they believe will be worth the risk and things which they believe will bring forth the Armageddon. The difficult part is to make them put aside their differences, strike common ground, compromise, and find a consensus to be used as a framework for them to collaborate within towards a higher, greater, goal.
  15. The people Priit worked for on Kazaa/Skype (Brilliant Digital Entertainment) are the people who own Subspace's copyrights. EA only bought the Westwood division from VIE, because VIE had weak-knee lawyers who couldn't stick to their guns. There were also some deals that fell through the cracks because of VIE idiots or Viacom idiots, I forgot which, Jeff would remember, but lets not go there, now. So, basically, Priit only needs to make a small phone call and the lawyers come raining down.
  16. Enemy power up: detected. Heat levels: critical.
  17. I'm just a die hard fanboy. http://www.y8.com/games/Battle_City
  18. The KISS principal implemented in its most marvelous form. A Petri-dish for social studies. A technological marvel for its time. The most wonderful and balanced PvP-oriented online game system and mechanics ever invented. A proof of concept that dedicated quality exceeds in its accomplishments, over short period of time, the produce of quantity.
  19. Sounds as though mutual misunderstanding and fear, which ever drive men to bulk off taking a chance, have had their play. If I could contact both, perhaps a new framework may be reached. It is worth to try, I suppose. I have not mailed snrrrub in long time and the address I have isprobably defunct by now. I haven't seen Alex on ICQ in a very long time, either... Could you assist me in this endeavor, Polix?
  20. May I suggest that instead of quoting entire walls of text for the sole purpose of throwing inane drivel and insults, you'd actually post coherent counter-arguments with that which you disagree?
  21. That I actually find very hard to believe.
  22. Here we go. The leechers awoke.
  23. Worth adding that if they managed to anger away snrrrub they're dumber than I thought. That guy was Subspace's last best chance.
  24. So nothing has changed.
