I have no idea if this has been posed before. I recently started playing subspace again and am very disheartened to see the games dying. 3 years ago I migrated almost completely to linux, finally choosing linux mint as my preffered linux flavor. One thing I noticed about linux distros ubuntu and mint (and basically all distros) is their default repositories lack greatly in games, especially games which are multi-player online and also fun and dont require much hardware resource to run (basically 0 if you account for the last bit) I have posed an idea to several veterans who I know, and they seemed to like the idea. UPDATE: Okay so the directory server issue is apparently not resolved. If you can't find the zone in the directory list just use the IP 69.164.209.244 and port 13000 to add the zone manually to your list while we try to sort out this nightmare. DS is back online as SSCL Desert Storm. The zone will be in a beta state for a few months while some things are improved and an ASSS conversion is started. The zone is playable and functional but the ship settings are subject to change as they have not been tested in more than 1v1 situations. Graphics and SFX will be being improved and bot functionality will be improved as well during this beta period. Thanks to everyone …

Can someone explain the base duel commands? I would like to learn BD. I understand the part of choosing a freq 50-60 or a private freq but don't understand the command formats. !ch = challenge but then the rest ( 5b2 ) etc loses me. many thanks

Think it is obvious. Just a way to award members for the things they do with some recognition. Maybe nothing special, but something none the less. Might find something better in the near future.

I have installed a "pirated" version of the Tutorials app for us to test out and see if it is worth further investment. My plan/idea for the app long ago was to turn it into a central FAQ/Help section for the game. An addition to the Technical Support forum where newbs and current players alike could go for information and help. There is also the ability for posts to be turned into Tutorials with a single click, many more categories if needed, and even Zones could have their own sections/categories if wanted. Look at it, and lemme know what you guys think.

Don't know where this should be posted so ill post it here. I'm looking for a host to get DS back online. I miss playing it and I know others do too so I want to get it back up. I have all the files I just need to get it all reorganized. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I've been disconnected from the community for a bit so I'm not sure who is doing reliable hosting now. Thanks guys.

i believe these are private files you could have asked jowie for them personally in any case, these are pretty old, and have since been rewritten by both jowie and myself however, mine is part of an unreleased fake player platform, which is far more powerful

Have added a Twitter feed app to the forums also. Will allow me to post forum updates to twitter, and in time even feed from other twitter accounts like EG's. Hopefully will allow me to better communicate what is going on around here.

Can now only quote a selection of the post, rather than quoting the entire thing and editing it out. Or just quoting the entire thing when meaning to only quote a partial. Just highlight the text you want to quote, and then click the "Selective Quote" button. Example And again It does seem to fail after posting from quick reply though. Gonna post that bug on the support thread.

so things have been looking pretty bad lately ive had to sit and watch zone after zone get infested with cancer and die. the development forums for ss died about a year ago, and have literally not received a single post for 2 months. the development team for the biggest zone is now dead, and is led by someone actively driving away developers. 3 large ssc hosts have shut down in the last year. mavericks statistics pages have the death of this game slated for some time in 2016: and thats just with a continued linear decay, which is extremely unlikely. personally, i expect an inverse exponential decay near the end, when people start quitting because n…
