TBH I am surprised limewire survived for this long anyway. Napster and Kazzaa met their ends in a much shorter time span.

As always though one goes down 5 will reappear to replace it.

hmmmm... people use torrents because it's free... paying for something else to download stuff would kind of ruin that, no? :p

Good, keep torrenting. That way Usenet will exist forever and be available to intelligent people willing to spend a dime to get more, get faster, and safer, and be free of morons and world-wide masses that would get law firms to target Usenet users daily.

Just like the topic of viruses and exploits for Mac OSX, Unix, and Linux. Only where the masses go.

That way if I ever need to pirate something, I know I will be able to get virtually anything I want with equal bandwidth treatment at literally maximum throughput my internet connection subscription through the least number of secure connections (to be exact: 1 connection per file; good ol' HTTP and HTTPS!).. and I won't have to worry about fragging my line (or the neighborhood), a DMCA letter in the mail, or the RIAA bringing down the house on my arse.

Usenet/Rapidshare/Megaupload/Mediafire/etc = a billion times more efficient, folds safer, and totally worth the very small fee (of course, unless you don't have a job).

(EDIT: Oops, not supposed to talk about it.. you know.. it. ;) )

It is quite worth paying the money. But as I started this post: good, keep torrenting and stay with torrenting. Don't ever change, please.

But... it's free. Price outweighs any advantage Usenet has, IMO.

YOUR RIGHT! Keep using torrents. I really mean it. Edited by L.C.

Uh? Usenet a secret? Riiiiggghhhtttt - Anyway, I'd rather not pay anything, still get 1mbps+ download speeds that are easy to prioritize (so I don't actually notice I am downloading while surfing) and not pay anything at all. Also, it's very easy to encrypt your downloads, and even if a law-firm jump on your arse about a claim you are always free to ask them to prove it.

Rapidshare/Usenet or whatever flavour is your taste is over-rated, and over-priced. Why pay for something you can get elsewhere for free.
