Sharpflame Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Well. Radeon HD 2400 Pro, wit DirectX 10 blah blah. The thing cost me $130, and I can manage a frame rate of about 60 if I don't have any tiles on-screen. Speccing over tiles drops it down to 7-20. Wow. I have tried various combinations of the advanced options checkboxes, but none of them seem to make a difference. If I turn on software emulation, I will always have a slow frame rate of 15. In 8-Bit mode, I get a frame rate of 30 easily in software emulation, in 16-Bit or 32-Bit, it's 15. Problem with not having software emulation on is that the frame rate drops instantly if I get a few tiles on screen. Lvz graphics RAPE the frame rate, sometimes it slows it down so much that I can't even get the keyboard to respond easily to get away.Crappy computers that I play this game on, like, ones that take about 2 minutes to enter a zone, get a frame rate higher than this computer that is relatively fast. Uhh... The reason I am here is because I am hoping that somebody around here knows why this is happening, and possibly how to fix this. Anyone know what's going on?
Dav Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 what other software are you running that may be graphically demanding? What is your screen resolution?
Samapico Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Is your resolution set to the same resolution as your desktop? Also, make sure no other process is taking some CPU (Even if they are not graphically demanding), media players and antivirus scanners can cause that. From this topic:I used to have fps problems back in the day aswell. Go to advanced options and check following boxes: "No Frame Limit" "Avoid Page Flipping" I'm at work at the moment but i think thats right.Give it a try Another topic about the same problem, some proposed solutions in there.
Sharpflame Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 I have my media player open sometimes, and it does drop the FR slightly, but it'll be slow without it. I also tried closing out my antivirus, which failed.
Shock Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Had the same problem with my 9250 and I never did fix it. I blame Continuum because it worked perfect in everything else.
Samapico Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Continuum's graphic engine mostly sucks... It sucks up the whole CPU for simple 2D images, and has issues with several graphic cards :/
jacob hunter! Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Ok here are some problems that you may have. 1. If you are using a laptop you might have a bad charger or bad battery and it can affect your fps drastically in game whn you plug and unplug the charger. 2. You need to update drivers possibly? 3. Not having the up to date microsoft software may also affect your fps in game.
