Rainin Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Alright im running win 98 and i recently reformatted and reinstalled all my drivers. I installed continuum and was having fps problems. I changed settings, as people advised me, but it didnt seem to help. I installed a better graphics card geforce 440 nvidia and im still having the FPS problems. Furthermore i tried reinstalling continuum to get the default setings fo rthe options and advanced options back.. but it doesnt work.. even uninstalling and deleting the entire folder. im getting 10 fps in safe zone and very laggy playing outside of safe zone could anyone please tell me what settings to make sure and have off and on for the most FPS possible, or tell me any ideas they might have on why my fps is sucking. It used to work fine with a worse card on the same system.
»SOS Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Do other games do this as well? Do start->run->dxdiag and see if anything is listed as disabled in the graphics tab. Try updating your motherboard drivers. How old is the computer? If it's very old, also update the motherboard BIOS (be careful with this, you have to use the right one or you'll nuke your computer).
Rainin Posted November 30, 2005 Author Report Posted November 30, 2005 Well i updated my BIOs and it didnt help but is probly good for my system anyways... motherboard is fine and no it doesnt do this on Ragnarok Online which is a much more graphic game then Continuum... any other help anyone could give me would be awsome... i still think i may have messed with too many settings in the continuum options but no matter what i try it doesnt help
»SOS Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Was everything enabled in dxdiag? Try newer drivers. If they dont' help, try *older* drivers. Some should work. Basically, the problem is probably that Continuum, as you know, is pretty old-fashioned. And some driver makers don't care much about making old-fashioned stuff work well always, so these sorts of things might have some bugs in order for the newer stuff to work better.Older drivers might help if newer ones don't.
SoM Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 I used to have fps problems back in the day aswell. Go to advanced options and check following boxes: "No Frame Limit" "Avoid Page Flipping" I'm at work at the moment but i think thats right. Reply back if it gets better. /SoM
Rainin Posted December 1, 2005 Author Report Posted December 1, 2005 I dont know how to install older drivers really :/ and ive tried messing with the advanced options as well... nothing is working :/
Bargeld Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 Try changng the color depth in the game options. Use 8 bit color.
