I've been tinkering around with the flag modules lately looking at ways to improve gameplay, and I have a couple of ideas that should help take away control of rogue players on teams.

The first is adding a command like ?forceneut. If there is a single flag carrier on your team, you can use the command to vote for their flags to be neuted. Once a majority of the team votes to force neut, all of the flags that are currently carried by the flagger are neuted. It would only apply when there is one flag carrier, not for technical reasons but because it's harder to make a m!@#$%^&* informed decision and then determine what it is the team really wants when there are multiple people running around with flags. If you have a lot of rogue players on one team, you probably have some bigger issues you need to work out.

Another is having it set up so that only players designated by majority vote are permitted to win. You pm the players on your team with something like ?letdrop and unless a majority of the team has indicated they are allowed to win, at the end of the flag timer the flags will simply neut instead of dropping.

Hopefully this has been clear enough. What do you think, Hyperspace?

?forceneut good, ?letdrop bad

I think a command like ?restrictdrop would be better than ?letdrop, ?restrictdrop would change the behavior for ANY flag carrier (on your team) to neut at timer end instead of drop. It would be a majority command.

That way, unless ?restrictdrop is used, the game plays normally, dropping on timer end. That way you keep default functionality the same and only make players who want to use it learn it.

Ok so For D1's...

Flags can Only be dropped if the majority pms the flagger with ?letdrop

Flags will be stopped from dropping if the majority pms the one flagger with ?forceneut

Right?

And Arry you're saying that...

Any player is free to drop flags, unless majority pms a flag carrier with ?restrictdrop, which forces neut instead of drop at timer end.

Sorry it was kinda tricky to comprehend it all at first, i figure other people might not understand it right away - correct me if i'm wrong.

I like Arry's idea, it's basically ?forceneut, with no ?letdrop, and more lenient.

It would be a nice addition to keep the majority of a team happy...

Another thought - giving a private team owners full power over those commands, without the need of the majority. Meaning that only the team owner needs to pm the player with ?restrictdrop to keep him from winning.

For the concern of freqs with little experience of commands - a message system could be utilized. When a player acquires a flag, a message to the team appears saying something like "DareSound has acquired 1 flag. PM them with ?restrictdrop if you wish for them to neut flags instead of dropping." A problem with that could be spam from the beginning of a flag game, when flags are changing sides often. For that issue, maybe have the message come up after the flag is held for half timer or so.

People seem to ignore most green messages already. For private teams it's not a problem because we can have the team name say it in yellow, but pubs don't have that luxury. Maybe, like you suggested, when there is like a minute left on someone's flag timer we can send the messages to their teammates.

The difference between the restrictdrop and forceneut commands would be that forceneut immediately neuts flags if you have somebody running away with them while restrictdrop simply prevents winning of the flag game

Considering if there were no neuts... That Would make a flag game last longer - I don't know what you were getting at by eliminating neuts - maybe a completely different flagging, jackpot style - but if it were taken out as is right now...

-A player would always be holding a flag while basing (keeping the game live), increasing the risk of losing it (compared to neuting it safely in the fr), and dragging on the flag game. If the flagger is killed, the game goes on even longer.

-Wallneuts wouldn't be a problem - If an enemy rushes in, takes all flags, and neuts, all flags go to center(?) -> Sounds all fairness to me.

I'm for that. It sounds like the games would get bigger, faster, and more enjoyable - Even though that's probably not what you had in mind. blum.gif

One of the concerns I had would be with freqs that had little or no experience in the zone or with the commands

I think the ?forceneut is good, there should be enough skilled players on a team to be majority

People seem to ignore most green messages already.

Hence the idea of being able to ?moneymessages or something to turn off kill-money messages, mentioned in another topic

so you don't get spammed by kill messages (especially basing)

I agree with oid; basing would be difficult because you would have no choice but to win... games would be pretty short

That's not true. What would end up happening is that there would be one milker who would constantly be holding a flag in order to keep milking the jp - until the team decided they wanted to win. Now that increases the risk of losing the flag - team loses flag, flag game is drawn on even longer.

To disprove:

1) Many zones have to deal with thors while milking. We can too. Reps will work.

2) When a flag game is being "milked," one person grabs flags to keep the flag game going, and kills to raise the timer and keep from dropping.

Personally, I'd like to reform the entire flagging style to eliminate neuts, making these proposed changes not matter.

As things are, no matter who wins, when they do it, or for what reason, they're always NOOBZ and COULD HAVE MAED MOAR MONEE BY BASING THOSE ZTUPID NOOBZ

A complete flagging rework sounds like a good idea to me.

I vote to do the ?restrictdrop and ?forcedrop. That would prevent just 2 or 3 people on a freq with 15-30 people fron ruining the game for everyone when they dont listen to everyone saying that its better to play than win. The only time you should EVER win is if there is at least 20k per person. so, 100k jackpot for 5 ppl 200k for a team of 10 ppl, etc.......200k for every 10 ppl. I really hate those people, Hyperpsace is a great flagging zone. Edited by scouto2

i think there should be a bot called "HS-flags (bot)" and like after u pick up all 20 flags the bot will ask the freq to literally VOTE if the team allowes the person to win. and if it's allowed the bot does nothing. but if it's not allowed then the bot will literally SPEC the person who's winning the flags.

P.S. i added a signature. charmed is a show i love and the middle person, paige is my favoirte! blum.gif

If someone's willing to do it.. Also it should be the other way around... Instead of vote to win, it's vote to neut since well, if your new how the !@#$%^&* do you know how to vote?!

From what I see, this will just a simple command to have a chance to stop "selfish" players from winning while pissing everyone else off. Theres no need to get complicated.
