much of the west european powe is in the EU, the eu is growing all the time and with it miletary and political power grows. I just hope that the uk doent support america in their next invation so mabye they wont do it. if the US do invaid i think they will need un supporting forces from europe tho tto make sure they do not destroy the infrestructure and law and order systems. Basiccally the un will need to be there to cleam up americas mess.

Back to the topic, I'd have to say that it is currently hard to decide which of these two is more powerfull. Republicans have a majority in the house, and would have had so in the Senate if some Senators didn't change parties. What we have is close to a Republican Congress with a Republican President. Currently, there is no way to tell. One House supports the President, the other opposes him. It is clear that the Presidency, when supported by the House, is stronger than the Senate. Ok that the cover story, i think poil was the main reason for iraq. Also as far a a more stable middle east goes, thay will get nowhere untill israil is sorted out and that war criminal sharon is eithyer elected out of power of the UN does somthing to interviene. ok solar costs too much money at the moment. Its a very gpood source, extreemly green and as techniology advances thay will be ablwe to make it cheaper. Hydrogen fuel cells are a very good way to do thigs. Problems arise in 2 ways tho 1. Hydrolosis (splitting of water) is endothermic. this means energy has to be piut in to go it and so another source is needed. this may be oil solar enery. 2. burning of hydrogen will increace water vapor in the air and increace humidity rainfall chamnginf the weather systems

the power lies in congress, the president cannot act umless congress gives him the authority to do so (basiclly the president has littkle power) However as soon as congress gives the go ahead all power in the situation is given to the president making him extreemly piowerfull. The problem with tge US is that bush is an idiot that seems to give a shiyt only about the US (we all iknow iraq being for the people is meerly properganda) and ciongress are a bunch of whiny little wooses that give the go ahead anyway.

If you place tiles that people can fly over in the caturpults, people cannot lay mines at all but xcan still soot bullets and bombs and do everything else normally. Do that and problem solved

You was saying about how humans adapt thier environmet to suit them. That is very true, we adapt our envirinmet to best suit the conditions we work best under. In essance we remove any pressures for adaption thriugh natural selection. By adapting out environment we have found ourselves where we are today. Also we are not the only animals to do this, a bever will create a dam across a rvier causing an area of still water to be formed. This changes its environmet to suit it.

Yes the fact universities are underfunded is a problem, the solution thay have suggested will just cause more problems tho. They want to add an extra £3000 per student per year to the tuition fees. This means that students will go into huge debt when they come out of university, on avrage about £30,000. This will cirtianly deter many working class students from going in fear of debt. Less students at university will have a cascading effect, it will mean there are less people at the universities so they get less money and will still be underfunded. In addition the government targets of 50% of people going to uni by 2010 will not happen. The second effect of this is people that go to university will choose on prises (they dont have to charge the full £3000), people will go to the place they get less debt and not where will get them the best degree. There are other solutions to this problem, it can be paid for by taxation of the genral public. Govenmets tend to say thay want to reduce taxes and gibe more public service which doesnt add up, taxes will always rise. They can also introduce a graduate tax wich means graduates get taxed extra because they had the privilage of going to university. Jimster - the thing is graduate students are extreemly usefull to sociaty, expecially in science and engineering where there is a great shortage, idealy 60% of the population need to be getting degrees. Aileron - Since when were universitys into making profits? they make their money and use it to fund research and new facilities, not to put hefty sums of money in somones pocket.
