Instead of plucking out independently strong players I would pick strong individuals who have a proven history of consistent 4v4 acuity and teamwork. Lineup: Maimer, Travis, Rage, Dingo Maimer and Travis for follows and tying together plays. Rage and Dingo for creating openings and providing containment. I think a lot of people are confused about Chemical - he was primarily a threat in the overpowered shark. It has since been nerfed and in the warbird he was good but not top 10. And no offense to kingnewbie but in the years assassins/The Dark/Sterling/BIA/Flawless were playing a lot he wasn't really as impactful.

Will there be games this Sunday? It falls on mother's day and I know people have mothers/wives who they will be busy entertaining.

SSCX Chaos is back online now.

Bahahaha he removed the video then put me at rank 5 to get back at me. Love it.

I still think you're a rank 5 player - but I decided to give you some charity points after watching your work promotion video: https://vine.co/v/hmbrDhqFW7d

I force my way in from the merging lane at the last minute every morning - on my way to work.

You died with 2 repels which gives a larger -rating.

It seems like it happens a lot because there's like 30ish practices being played every day. Additionally, people are more reckless in practices so the chances are greatly increased (since people redline alot and take substantially more risks). On that note, I have seen it and I don't know what causes it. It's been extremely rare for it to occur during official matches because they're slower paced and there's fewer of them. So I don't think its become an epidemic or something that requires immediate action.

I think this would be fun to bring back again - and I think having the captains draft teams will be just as fun as well. My only suggestion would be to have the draft an hour before the matches start. This way a team isn't selected a few days prior and people end up not showing.

You beat up on Storm and an Ego lineup without bhang. Impressive. You went 1-6 in playoffs on a strong team, not so impressive. I'm flattered that you're calculating my k/d ratio out of context. Are you talking about when Sika crippled our team by dying twice in under 10 minutes over and over? I know you're still bitter that we kicked you from Requiem but it's widely known how much of a non-factor you are. Go ahead and continue to have delusions of grandeur and I will continue to crush you like I did a week ago.

Aye, was just trying to think about the approach first - and the map second. If people are comfortable with the approach they may be more open to to some sort of map change. In regards to the map I think the approach of 'replace it straight up' will never work. It's too much of a change to everyone's comfort zone.

I didn't want to derail Arctos' post more than I already did so I figured I would start my own. His thread is about people submitting maps - and I wanted to start one that talked about the format. (So we can have some segregation of discussion) Some history: -In 1999 trixter lobbied to change the league map and we all practiced on a different map for a bit. It didn't work, and people wouldn't accept it. -In 2001 Sephiroso told the population to submit maps... guys like Arctos, hagetaga and Shuko all submitted maps. People practiced on them for a bit and people submitted their likes and dislikes. In the end it never ended up changing. However, in the 2001 effort Operator suggested that league games rotate between two maps. One map being 'home' and one map being 'away'. Unfortunately, I think his suggestion was overlooked. Here is the direct quote: "Look at the schedule, and make each team have an even amount of home and away matches... In home matches, the squad captain, at the time of the game, can pick which map the game is played on.." One of the maps could be the current league layout and the other can be a new one. OR we could take the current pro map and vertically flip it - so we have the same amount of structures and space but it still feels different. Additionally, if it was vertically flipped people could still anticipate things and know where they are but it takes an additional second or so to think about it. Thoughts? 001 effort Operator suggested that league games rotate between two maps. One map being 'home' and one map being 'away'.

All those games you named started with different maps from the beginning. League has been on the same map for years, subsequently ingraining deeper feelings of comfort in the population over time. So changing it now would be too large of a distraction because of that sentiment. I realize you're just a massive troll but if you're genuinely that dense I hope the above explanation helps.

Pretty much what Street said. You guys barely played Aquitas and he's a solid player. With the exception of Enforcer and hibachi you guys have 11 active pilots who sign on at least twice a week. That's far more activity than any other squad. It will also prove to be a huge playtime issue for your team on Sundays as well. So good luck with dealing with that drama.

Since the only squad evaluation posted for this season was by a troll I figured I would post one. Hopefully this will spark other's interest to do the same. (Post for real, not troll) Alphabetically: Assassins Looks like Assassins will be joining in this season after all. There is still a question of activity vs inactivity but they should still be able to field a solid 4. I suspect we will see mediocre interest in regular season and more interest/activity as the season nears playoffs. Dev and saiyan are the most active players but showing on Sundays is more important than regular week activity. Look for Nacre, Mop and kdak to show for some random sundays and help bring wins in. Sika seems to have disappeared so jury is still out on him. Ideal Lineup: develop, saiyan, nacre and Mop Full Sub: Kdak for whoever Backarrow Returning for a second season is a team captained by Arctos and mis-managed by Candyman. Backarrow has a commendable amount of activity, with Pracplane in full effect and euro pracs taking place on the daily. This team has some good individual players but relies heavily on Tunahead being on his A-game and Candyman staying in spec. I suspect this team will do pretty decent in playoffs - with some possible upsets. However, this all hinges on Arctos calling the shots and Candyman keeping his trap shut. Ideal Lineup: Arctos, Tunahead, Plarep, Sabrewolf Full Sub: Savage for Sabrewolf beastfu Teams like this spawn up every season, with sometimes good results....but not in the realm of winning. Usually they lose the first 3-4 matches they play then no-show. However, every once in a while a new guy is recruited to a team like this and becomes active in league...gets pretty good then transitions to a more stable team. That's the only hope I have for this team. Ideal Lineup: Any Full Sub: Any discombobulate Newly formed team for this season. I think they can do pretty well. Roster needs a little cleaning of dead weight though (wahini, frowzy). I don't know who McLaren is but he's doing pretty decent lately. RICKDAWGGGGG has had pretty exponential skill growth as well - that's been cool to see. Overall I think that if this team can level out and learn to play well together they can upset some people. Ideal Lineup: Mindriot, McLaren, Joe Jr, Acidfreak Full Sub: Pog maybe? Dropships Another newly formed team for this season which has bits of Port Llast and Alpha Reunion. The activity is questionable though, some of these guys come on for short stretches of time then disappear. I see this team battling discombobulate in a decent match. Their squad practices have gone ok, with mixed results. They will need a bit more offense though, Mighty Sven habitually backlobbing puts a wrench in any team's momentum. Ideal Lineup: Plutorus, Harmchief, Mighty Sven, Pryde Full Sub: replika maybe? Ego Jury is still out on Ego. bhang wasn't able to show up and they got crushed by Backarrow in the pre-season opener. They're definitely in need of recruits and could be deadly if they picked up one or two solid guys. If they can get more people they will be competing with Llamas for a semi-finals spot. Ideal Lineup: bhang, pseudo, fedu and captor Full Sub: Whoever Llamas This squad has always been a favorite of mine. I think it's because on any given Sunday they can upsets a good team. The only thing they're missing is one or two upper echelon players. Don't get me wrong, they have a lot of good players but they're all at about the same level. They're in need of a current player or a new player who can create opportunities and openings without flying out of control. I believe they're counting on this person to be Ghostbuster but he's either super rusty or lost his spark. Ideal Lineup: Ghostbuster17, Nine, Psyanide, twista Full Sub: Dagger, PP or CFK Outlaws So this is FTNguyen renamed but with a hint of stackage. With the addition of chrono and enforcer it's become clear that these guys didn't like losing last season. I think everyone knows the story here: Caer and Crescendo should stay in spec, Legacy tilts after early deaths, etc etc. Look for this team to be in the finals or knocked out in a close semi-final match. Oh yeah, and chrono is double-squadding. Ideal Lineup: Village, King, chrono, legacy Full Sub: eric clapton for legacy after first early death StarFire Elite I think we all know this story. Ideal Lineup: Shikaa, Something Dutch, unfotable, mfa Full Sub: scubie The Dark This team returns but took a page from Outlaws' book and added 9-volt to bring on the stackage. 3 guys from the Flawless starting lineup and 4 guys from The Dark starting lineup. GG. We shall see if they all remain active but this is another team that could get eliminated in the semi-finals or make it to finals. Oh yeah, and trouser ferret (chrono) is double-squadding. Ideal Lineup: Da Douche, Blink, benji, trouser ferret Full Sub: Jocker or Nadai

Played on arc1 last night and it seemed a bit too spaced out. The placement of walls and objects had a unnatural flow as well because the center is rounded versus box-like which is what we're all used to. It seems like it would take a while for everyone to get used to it. I realize we're testing out new ideas but after playing on something different last night it became clear that league won't be receptive to it. Hearing what everyone was saying, changing back to old arena, etc... Made me think. Every league game and championship has been played on the same map for 15+ years. If a new map is put into place and a team wins - the league population that hates the map will deem the win null. This could degrade the quality of league even more and it would likely result in the map changing back or a population drop-off. I hate comparing spaceships to real-life sports but let's entertain it for a second. Football, soccer, baseball, etc all play on the same field and have been for decades. Aside from establishing standards applicable to the field for a given sport, the teams practice and have become acclimated with its form-factor and structure over time. If you were to change the field then players would be spending more time re-learning the field versus focusing on the game itself. Just my 2 cents.

I really like the first one Arctos. I think we should try it in the prac arenas.

This looks like Flawless + The Dark. Why not split into 2 teams? Wasn't Monkk just giving people a hard time about stacking squads the other day? (and why is chrono on Outlaws + The Dark) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k4x-_wriSyM/T9TVLUKTftI/AAAAAAAACYI/BMhMR0aqWPU/s1600/user6133_pic34477_1326494238.jpg

I fixed it for you obsessed kid. Did anyone get Backarrow's loss to Port Llast on tape? I like the part where Candyman contributed nothing subsequently meeting his normal status quo.
-
Actually we wanted to give them the opportunity to play 4v4 instead of just killing them 4v2. They said they could get more players on later but it ended up not working out. The 'stat padding' comment is hilarious though. Look in the mirror. It hasn't gone un-noticed by the entire league that Nguyens have a strategically mapped out schedule that starts with weaker teams and gradually gets harder. Not only are you guys padding stats but you get to warm up throughout the season. Whereas other squads have to play tough teams right off the bat. I'm sure you just plugged Nguyens into the spreadsheet first, mapped out the teams you wanted to play - then scheduled everyone else around it. Unhallowed, Shocktech, SFE, Gods, Rebels, Alpha Reunion then Assassins. Good work. You played the entire lower half of league in the first quarter of the season.

Well they have been for a few days - but I tested them and one other person just posted theirs. For those of you that were nice enough to write predictions for previous rounds - would be nice to get this part of the site kicking again. http://www.svssubspace.com/index.php?page=4v4Predictions
