Was in spec tonite in DSB,and during the conversation the statement was made that Death Star Battle was copyrighted.Therefore any clones or copy zones could possibly and or actually be, sued by the current owner.After a little bit of research I found this to be a accurate statement.However it is owned by Lucas Arts lmt.Any likeness or terminology is EXCLUSIVELY owned by George Lucas.This also includes any fictional or non-fictional characters,and by the looks of it,it's all inclusive.It also expressly forbids usage of any kind without his prior consent.The term "Death Star" is one of these aforementioned licensed names. I find it hard to believe that it would come to this. Is there any chance of someone coming forth and acting as a mediator between Hoch and the DSB Players? P.S. Lads, You are free to discuss what was announced on Sunday. I for one encourage it. But in the present climate nothing good will come of it. Everyone needs to settle down and take a deep breath. However, I will not tolerate such nonsense as mutiny, a new zone or the like threads. They will be moved, not removed. We will not remove a zone sysop. Though if Argyle removed Hoch for any reason... not sure how that reaction would go down. Though if Loops or Chy stepped in, they quite possibly would be supported. Again, all a case by case, who really knows basis. huh?

Guys here's the more important topic imo.First off "IF" hoch shuts the zone down,then he would no longer need any SSC Billing,Bang powers,ect.What we really need is someone on the SS council to weigh in on this,and tell us what has been discussed if anything.What hoch is really saying is that he is no longer willing to pay for the server which hosts DSB.If the SS Council wants hoch to take down DSB,which I find hard to believe,then they will probably not allow anyone to have SSC Billing and the use of Bang or whatever they supply the zones.If this is true then a clone of DSB will fail have no doubt.Having watched and been a part of 2 other good zones demise i have seen this happen before.Being sysop of WLI/USD Annihilation (zone ruined and smeared by Gemini Dream)and staff SMOD of T3 I can see whats coming.Although we are all pissed because Hoch announced the eventual closing of DSB,it really makes little sense to kill zones period in Subspace.To make a long story short,without SSC billing any resurrection of DSB is doomed.Personally the "speech" hoch wrote for zone closing was quite good.Hoch you wouldnt be a politician in the UK are you?However seems to me if you made the decision to close the zone then what are you waiting for?Seems more like a Ploy to get zone population back up.If so we can hardly blame him for that.However its my belief that people like the_snake are highly creative and there ideas should be given proper weight.Fly swatter has also came up with some good ideas.So if were not lacking in ideas and resources...what is lacking? I think wO is right..isnt getting more people to play the point?Or existing players to devote more time/energy to SS instead of the 57 million other games out there?I personally play for the social interaction and hell it's still a fun game!
