  1. About a year ago, I was working on some graphics replacements for subspace. I was going to change all the graphics, but like most of the projects I start, I never finished it I saw Static's posting for some GFX he made. I thought I would release mine too. What I have changed: Bombs Bullets Mines Explosions (Ships, Bombs and EMP) KOTH Crown #1 Subspace Shield Shrapnel I included my Warbird along with the Roll for it also. Here are a couple screenshots I took in EG real quick. Originally, I wanted to use PNG's with alpha channels so the graphics would all have nice transparencies and be, pretty But The Continuum client doesn't support it. I *THINK* Discretion does. Maybe I'll remake then for that client. I don't know I had to do a checker pattern to make the graphics appear to be transparent. In fast paced games, it's hardly noticeable Before extracting the files and moving them to your Continuum folder, I suggest you rename the old "Graphics" folder to something else like "Graphics-Original" just so they aren't overwritten and you can easily switch back to the old graphics by renaming the folders again.   2. Well, here is a concept of the Nightwasp I drew up real quick. I was recently looking around to see if there happened to be a ship roll .bm2 for the Nightwasp, but apparently, in build 1.24, they removed the Nightwasp, and in that same build, VIE introduced the ship roll files. Too bad... The rolls would help with the side profile of the Nightwasp.
  3. That's cool. It'll help a lot when I get around to modeling it. It would be cool if more people drew up some concepts of when they think the NightWasp might look like. Make it a community project. I could try mashing all the designs together into one design... I dunno. Just a thought. looking through posts, it looks like it could have been grazzhoppa's warbird. would be nice if you shared too =P I still have a long way to go. I don't want to release it when it isn't finished. I'm going to go back and rework the model a little big and rework the textures. Maybe even try to get some work done on the spider I started a while back...?
  4. basically, your 3d object is a specific set of points in 3d space. right now (in the .x file you uploaded) you have all points in -1- subset. in application programming terms, that means your ship can be made from -1- material. there are black parts of the warbird. there are red parts of the warbird. there are grey parts of the warbird. theres 3 subsets right there. what i want is a mesh with multiple subsets. As far as I know, I haven't uploaded my model anywhere. You might have mistaken my model for the other Warbird that was released in this thread. So far, I've only uploaded pictures. Right now, my model is split in a couple different sections. One for the fuselage, the engines, wings, and probably a couple other parts. I don't know if I'll split it up any further. Considering I can color it it with textures. Yeah, I know. It was something I noticed when I was rending this. I started texturing this when I didn't know much about the finer points of texturing Part of the reason I want to start the textures over I also want model some more of the details. I don't know how the Warbird shoots bullets and bombs without any sort of guns... :\ I'm actually looking forward to the Nightwasp. The Shark too. Though, they will probably be the last ships I start.
  5. Here, I guess you can work with this for the time being. It's quite a bit bigger then you asked for. But in cases like these, bigger is better Like I said, it's not finished. And progress might go a little backwards before getting better. I want to add some details and that means scrapping the textures that I'm using right now.
  6. My version of the Shield would have looked more like the original if I knew what I was doing when I started it. I'm not very good at replicating shapes exactly LOL I'm sure I'll go back and fine tune the shape later on. If you want a certain angle of the ship, I can probably render something specific for you. Resolution, Angles, whatever. But, the engines aren't textured yet, and some other issues with the textures I want to work on. So I'm afraid it might be a while. This thread has been open for almost 3 years. I'll try to get renders out ASAP. It shouldn't be too much longer until the Warbird is 'finished' .matt

If I understand what you're saying, the reason the sides look 'thinner' (left-to-right) is because I gave is a thinner thickness (front-to-back) so when the shield is rotating, it has a cooler profile. There is a BOW to the front face. The perspective makes it look thinner. Honestly, I don't like the way the point on the original is so thin and pointy That might just be 'cause I've been looking at my version for a while now I'm trying to get back into the 3ds max groove again. I'm almost having to re-learn everything again And not only 3ds max, but Vray also. The renders seem to be taking A LOT longer then I remember them taking. Soon.... I'll start getting some more stuff up soon hopefully... .matt
  8. 4th page....? It says that it is the 10th page on my end...? I'll see what I can do. If you, or anybody, knows where I can get some decent references of the Subspace Shield, I would appreciate it. I think I was working off the old icons and the spinning one from the game I seem to remember a slightly higher resolution (128x128 pix. possibly...?) of the shield from way back when...

  10. The images that are up are the ones that are available for the time being. I'm not going to render anymore beauty shots or shipsets or anything until I make some more progress or finish up the model. multiple differnt subsets....? I don't know what you mean by this The colors are bitmap textures...? I'm confused... I've seen that video already. I appreciate the heads-up anyways I'm getting tired of looking at those small, rotating animated gifs that have been around forever. I'm having issues with 3ds max right now too, and out of frustration, I'm just leaving it alone for the time being I'll try to tackle this model again soon tho

I don't know what drove Cheese to post that message... but I am still around, unless I'm wandering the earth not realizing I'm dead, and in some sort of limbo, which would totally suck...! If you see my obit. some place, please bring it to my attention so I can move on towards the light... Cheese's post was a little fucked up, it makes me feel creeped out. I don't know of a 9th ship other than the Night Wasp. And I don't know of any other images of the Night Wasp other than the ones included in the original VIE ship sets. If anybody knows or has any other views of the night wasp, I would LOVE to get my hands on it I have my desktop working again, in a limited fashion (I'm working this a small 15in. lcd as apposed to my TWO (2) 19in. wide-screens I was working with before ) But I want to start working on the ships again. But don't expect an update any time TOO soon. I have some real world issues to deal with But, like I said, I'm still around and want to get at-least the Warbird finished up and make some nice renders and junk
  12. I'm not sure Silva should have anymore fights at 185. It doesn't seem like anybody WANTS to fight him there anyhow. I would be a little embarrassed if a guy was able to punch me in the knee over and over again. But, Anderson Silva is one slick fighter. That kick with his back leg, around the back of his other leg.... ! I actually did laugh out loud. Maybe he should make a permanent move up to 205...? He'll be able to find people to fight if he moves up. Though, if he were to fight Lyoto Machida, that would be a boring fight. Two counterstrikers.... Boring. Don't get me wrong, they are two of my favorite fighters right now I'm hoping Machida can beat Rashad. I HATE Evans!!!
  13. It's funny, I was thinking, recently, how hard it would be for somebody new to find information on subspace, without having to navigate through a bunch of different websites. Sure, you can go to GetContinuum... but even I find it hard to get to where I want to from there. I don't know if there is a "hub" website like there used to be when Subspace.net and SubspaceHQ.com were around where I cant get a majority of my news from. When I came back to this game after a couple years (or more ) off, I was confused as to where I would download the client and actually get back to playing. As nice as the website layout and design is (and it is pretty my hat goes off to larrythehamster), I'm more excited about the prospect of a centralized website where I can get most, if not all, of my subspace news and not have to navigate through a hand-full of websites. As for the name... I wonder if it would be possible to acquire SubspaceHQ.com and set up base there...? I doubt it though.... Nevermind, SubspaceHQ.com = $3995. Forget that! No matter what the name, it'll be my first stop for Subspace related news. Seriously, guys.... I can't wait
  14. When I started them, I wasn't working... so I had some free time and a working computer. I find myself, now, with free time again, but my computer isn't being as friendly as it once was I used 3ds Max. And used V-Ray to render the Warbird.
  15. I started playing around 95/96 i guess. I *think*, maybe, I saw an advertisement for subspace on the back of a C&C manual...? I played mostly Alpha (T20), and I sucked so bad.... but I loved playing. I don't know what name I was using back then. But when the game went retail... I stopped playing for the most part. I played as a "Demo" a bunch of times, but it just wasn't the same I picked it up again after the the game became *free* again. And have been playing-off-and-on-and-on-and-off-and-on again since then. But moslty off... But when I pick up the game again after being on hiatus, I'm almost as addicted as I was originally. Right now... I'm not really playing the game. But I'm trying to model the ships in 3D. Just for the hell of it. I started with the Warbird, and If you look closely, the number on the Hull is T-20 in homage to the good-ol' Alpha days @No_Remorse: I'm pretty sure I remember you. Did you have a site called "Subspace 5". I designed a site by that name for a person by the name of "No_Remorse".
  16. Well, here is the start of the Spider I started way back when... Really basic, I didn't get to detailing and, obviously, texturing it. But it still needs a lot of work. Some of the lines need to be worked on. but I thought you guys might wanna see...
  17. One more thing I found lingering on my desktop's HDD. I'm really itching to get this thing finished now...! Maybe I'll just install 3ds Max on this laptop, and plug away at it slowly...

  21. @Cheese: With the references I was using, the width doesn't seem to be so off. I'm guessing that it is, in fact, a perspective thing like Samapico said. I think that the reference you posted is an Orthographic render from the top. My version is Stouter and bulkier and fatter. As for making the engines smaller and more square, I kind of feel like it makes the proportions for the whole ship a little funny if the engines are smaller. I'm just making excuses for myself so I don't have to go and change the model and fix the textures. *If* I ever get around to modeling the other ships, hopefully they will be a little bit more accurate.
  22. I was working on some models, or should I say model. I started with the Warbird. And Just as I was making some pretty good progress on it, my desktop goes and has a little bit of a hissy fit on me, and all progress has halted. I'm working on an OLD IBM thinkpad for the time being And I'm not sure that 3ds Max will like to be ran from it Silver lining time...? Possibly... Before all computer troubles, I did manage to render some previews and something that might be somewhat useful to the subspace community. Not in the way of an actual model for everybody to play around with though. This is an older preview I rendered. This is a preview I made that is a little more recent, slightly. Here comes the stuff that **might** be useful to somebody in the community A large version of the WB to be used in the game, it you want. The roll file to go along with it... Here is a Gold version of the WB, just for the hell of it. Eventually, I want to finish this model and release it to people that might have a project that is in need of it. But I'm afraid I might stop with the warbird. Talk about half-ass'ing it. I'm sorry if this post was just one big tease... but once I get my desktop up and working again, I'll finish, this model at least, asap.
  23. I didn't make this model. It's a low poly one I downloaded from SciFi Meshes. I probably should have mentioned that. <_< Sorry. I rendered it with 3ds max, split the frames apart into pngs and made a photoshop action to s!@#$%^&*ch parts of it together. It's definitely not the most efficient way to do it. I need to find a better way
  24. I made this for fun. Thought somebody might find it useful. Or maybe even semi-interesting It can be used to replace whatever ship you want. I changed the wb into this for a while. Have fun. forgot.... there is a roll to go along with it.
