Oh Man!!! I can't even say how much I've missed playing Subspace since I got my Mac. Playing with no sound, Shitty framerates, random freezes (I've actually only had one so far), and a little KeyRemap4MacBook to work around keyboard stuff, I'm so happy right now. Need to get my Subspace reflexes back now Or what little reflexed I had

What are the working Directory Servers... I'm kinda out of the loop Is there a place with a up-to-date list of all the servers or something... or are people (me ) supposed to gather this information from other sources around...?
-
I know LYNX because he's loaded with intelligent information.. Same here...

I'll be watching this thread carefully.... I'm totally down for getting my ass kicked by a hundred different people..... Would it be SVS or something... different...? It would be cool if it were SVS. I only skimmed the thread, sorry if this was already mentioned. I would also like to get my hands on any video that gets recorded at this event. Maybe do something with my little teaser video thing finally. Heh, I was just checking the videos on SSO. The one I made is up there... COOL

Okay... now what....? I'm not so sure that this "been needed done for a long time." Good job on replicating it though.
-
You got me mixed up with jab.....!? I don't know how I feel about that....
-
I'm getting it tattoo'd on my arm Haha... good luck with that. That is some dedication to Subspace. Post some pics when it is done. I definitely want to see it when it's done. When are you planning on getting it done...?

I made this a while ago. It is a little bit of a departure from the original. Click on it, it is animated. Just thought I would contribute. @Aquarius -- Mind if I ask what you are going to do/why you were looking for a higher resolution version of the shield. Just interested to know if you are working on some sort of 'project' or something interesting

I did QA for Electronic Arts a long while ago. And I thought it was an AWESOME job. Besides playing the "same thing over and over again," we had a hand in setting Time-Trial times, scores for scored events, and stuff like that. And besides all that, we had a cafeteria where we could eat and get fat, ping-pong tables, pool tables and big screen tv's, A large soccer field where you could play soccer and volleyball, a basketball court where we held basketball leagues (competitive and casual), hockey leagues (comp. and casual). Yeah, you spend A LOT of time in a LARGE room with a bunch of other testers (the majority of which are male ) but you'll still manage to mingle with "the higher ups." (the QA were pretty much the bottom rung, but we had good times.) I played regular ping-pong and pool (9-ball) with one of the developers. I never managed to beat him though. He was freakin' good! LOL I only have fond memories of testing for EA (for the most part.) Though, the area of the games I tested, I was required to play the games from start to finish, so I wasn't stuck playing one part of the game over and over and over again like some of the testers were required to. That being said, I DOUBT that what was posted in the Original Post will be anything like my experience at EA.

I'm thinking that we probably don't need to give people to more reasons to sit in spec, and rather, get the people that already in spec, playing... Maybe I missed the point...?

LOL!!! "you have yam-speak." I don't know why that is SO funny to me. But I laughed for a good, minute!

183 with my double click button I managed to get to 99 clicks with my regular left mouse click

Looks much better now. The metal paneling looks like its the same one I included with my WarBird model. I didn't create it, so I'm not trying to take credit. Good work.
-
Old subspace staple. I REALLY like this thing...
-
Well, yeah... It's basically your model, and I've told you that it looks good. Jab's texture, rather than looking like metal, looks like stone... other then that, it looks alright. If it had more of a metal look, it would be better
-
Kinda looks like it is made out of stone rather then being made out of metal. Looks alright though. Looking forward to your progress.

Force refresh...! Or, clear your cache................

The Lancaster is looking good. I like that you cleaned up the mesh That was my only gripe with the model I could care less about the accuracy of the model, I just like seeing that you are getting better at it Keep it up. On another note, I did some work on a Lancaster model. Only preview right now is in my signature

Y'know, you're always so quick to nit-pick on Gannon's ships, telling him to change this and add that and you need to do so-and-so. But when somebody comments on something you are working on, and gives some constructive criticism, you have another mini hissy-fit. Here are my 2 cents: - The camera tracking is sloppy. It needs to be smoothed out a lot.- The skybox (the space and stars) is messed up. You should make a pano so there isn't a visible seam when the texture is repeated.- It might be better without the 'platform' on which the 'Subspace' text is sitting. You'll start with ships flying between the text, fighting, and the viewer doesn't know what the text says, or that there is even text. Then, you pan way back, and the viewer sees that it is text, and that it says 'Subspace.' All the while, you can see the ships still flying between the letters and shooting and exploding.- The planet seems to come out of nowhere. It just appears...?

@ Jab: No... you're going to have to do your own textures. @ Gannon8 : The lanc looks good. Keep it up. I think you should clean up some of the polygons though. It's a bit messy in places. And the mesh is a little dense in some places also. Also. I exported my Warbird into a .3DS file. The only thing with that is, it doesn't export with the materials/textures applied. So, you'll either have to re-texture it yourself, or fingure out a way to re-apply my textures back onto it. The UVW coord files are still there from the .MAX file. You can try to figure out how to use those. My textures are still included in the .rar. Warbird.rar
-
Okay... well... I haven't touched my Warbird model in a long time. And I went to play around with it today, and HATED IT! I'm going to try and re-model it using Sub-D. Hopefully I can do it the way I want. I dunno. Maybe I won't, and be done with it That being said, I'm just releasing my model into the wild, **AS-IS**. If you want to use it, go ahead, credit me if you do use the model. But if you want any mods or need to get it rendering, or whatever, it is up to you... None of the texture files have been optimized (they are still in photoshop .psd format) and the model is split up into about a*million different parts. Don't ask me about the model, I probably wont help you... I think it's in .max format. I *think* blender opens that format. [attachment removed. see later posts for another] Have fun.

The Nightwasp in my sig is white only because when I scetched it, it was on white paper It'll be dark like the original if I ever get around to actually making it. I wanted to do some sort of air intakes where the 'pod' things are, but I didn't know how when I started Maybe on the 'WarBird mk.II'... yeah right Maybe like an Indy Car style intake directly behind the cockpit... LOL. @MillenniumMan: The trailer looks pretty slick.

Maybe it's just me. But I thought the name of the thread was '3d models of subspace ships?' Yes, it may be 3D, but, what it isn't, it isn't a subspace ship... so it isn't on topic. Unless, it only bothers me, and everybody else doesn't mind including the other stuff also...?
-
Y'know, maybe that stuff should go into another topic. I don't want this one to get too off topic. I know I might have started it when I posted some of my non-3D ship related stuff like the shield, but this thread has been going on for just under 3 years, and has stayed pretty much on topic. Let's keep the talk in here about 3D Subspace Ships. Maybe a new topic for 'Subspace Graphics/Resources' or something along those lines...? Or, JabJabJab, you can post them in your Continuum Face lift topic. Edit: I said the word 'Topic' 5 times in this post, not including the one in this sentence. **topic**

Animated ships would be pretty sick though Navigation light flashing every now and then... **boner!** I like the customizable animation lengths. I could probably cut my bomb animations to 5 frames I do like the idea of direction based animations also. It would be nice for things like a Thor's Hammer (which I imagined to be an actual missile of sorts). Though, for bombs, I always Imagined them to be energy based weapons ('cause they don't ever seem to run out ) Splitting the bombs into diff. sprites it a nice idea. Like the way you can split the Ships into 'Ship1.png', 'Ship2.png', 'Ship3.png' and so on...
