  1. Wow clearly your ESL class has taught you the usage of "!@#$%^&*" well. First off I am a Christian who reads the Bible and goes to church every Sunday. I also live in America and I can also explain to you that in certain places ie. Bible Belt the families force their children to become orthodox Christians. We have plenty of Christian teachings on TV, clearly you have not flipped through American TV =). Dont believe me type in "Billy Graham TV" and you will see almost all of his sermons were televised. I agree the cartoons were probably offensive and I'm sure any person of religion would be insulted if their version of God was desecrated. But the question is would everyone resolve to violence to show their anger towards the cartoon. I believe there is no excuse for the behavior of many Muslims against the Danish and other western countries. I have heard from some Muslim scholars that the Koran teaches love and peace but in your post it seems as though you believe that the Prophet would be proud of your current defense for him. The question I would ask every Muslim right now is, do you think the Prophet is proud of the way Muslims are defending Islam. As Christians we are taught to turn the other cheek when insulted or harmed. We are also taught to respect the government of this world. We are also taught when false teachers come leaders must first remind them, then publicly discipline them, and when all else fails remove them from the body of believers. Islam has failed in that not large amounts of leaders have publicly denounced false teachers who spread teachings of extremism. This makes the world believe that the leaders accept extremism which is why there is so much animosity against Islam. But in conclusion the Bible teaches us to have a forgiving heart and that only our perfect God can judge us.
  2. Aileron's statement is correct. I believe reading about a specific situation in England where they adopted stricter gun-control laws and violent crimes went up. (John Lott- More Guns, Less Crime) It is a biased book but presents statistics that do!@#$%^&*ented by non-biased organizations.
  3. Most of the countries which have stricter gun control laws are in a different type of situation. The amount of firearms in civilian/criminal hands is much higher in the US and there is no effective solution to remove those firearms that may endanger households. Again I agree that if our civilian population was relatively gun free strict gun-control laws probably would work. But stricter gun control laws in America would just take firearms from responsible owners and leave them in the hands on irresponsible owners. Monte you probably know borders around the Southern border are still weak. If you can sneak carloads of illegal immigrants in the country i'm sure you can sneak a truck load of glocks and ak-47s.
  4. If you live in dangerous cities that require yourself to defend yourself you probably wont be able to afford a Taser(~$400). Also many times attackers are quite big and under the influence of drugs. Many times a taser attack may just piss them off which would make the criminal even more dangerous. Cities try every day to enact new laws/regulations to prosecute criminals and prevent crime. But in reality there always will be murderers, rapists and criminals and I believe that we can all agree that there will never be a time where our world will be clean of all criminals. There will always be situations where a victim will be face to face with another person that wants to inflict harm. In these situations the police may not be able to respond fast enough and many people in the city cannot afford expensive alarm systems. During these times it would be crucial to have a firearm to protect yourself or your family until law enforcement arrives.
  5. I do not fully agree with the fact that having a gun in your house makes you a target. If that was the case almost every American's home would be burglarized for their firearms. But in reality many homes are broken into for expensive items or the intent to harm someone. Also in America it will be impossible to take away a significant amount of guns from criminals. I say this because as you probably know a high percentage of firearms used in crimes are un-registered. This would leave a large amount of criminals armed and a smaller amount of legal gun-owners unarmed. In a utopian society guns would not be needed to defend our homes. But in reality criminals do have guns already and we cannot do anything significant about it. Living in Philadelphia I have heard stories of guns preventing crimes like murders and rapes but the sad thing is those stories are never published in the media. Taking guns away from owners who use them in preventative crime is like taking a gun away from a soldier that is rushing into a battlefield.
  6. It is a motherboard issue and it happens to my Toshiba all the time. I have heard rumors of it being because of overheating. I have sent in my laptop five times to get it repaired and every time it is never better. Seems like a flaw of some kind.
