  1. You might also want to try going into YOU'RE system registry and remove all the continuum entries from the CURRENT_USER branch. Then reinstall again. Don't poke around in the reg unless YOUR comfortable doing so. You may also wish to give a reg cleaner like CCleaner a shot.
  2. If your running some form of AV, perhaps its autoprotect has now labeled the continuum executable as harmful and wont let it execute. Some AV packages will only warn you the first time that they block something, then they get added to a list to be blocked always without any interaction from you.
  3. Honestly, It it is irrelevant if Axe has a son or not. I saw this exchange personally. What was being said both in pub, and most likely private as well, has no business in this game and was clearly crossing the line. Why are people surprised when they get what they have coming?
  4. Go into the sounds options and make sure 3d sounds is unchecked. If it still crashes, turn sound off and try again. If this fixes it, well then you know its an audio related, and most likely drivers. You could try changing the bitrate both in the game options and in windows.
  5. Lets say you take a somewhat active zone and make it a sub of a larger zone. Lets say the existing player base is aware and moves with it. Good Good. Now, returning players who might be looking for it don't see it initially, whats more, new players are not aware of it for quite some time while they adjust to the game in general. The way I see it, the zone that was more healthy to begin with will be the one to reap the rewards in this situation. It will hurt the zone that is struggling for pop and benefit the one that is not. Regardless of the reasons why it is on the way out. Making a zone a sub is a last ditch effort to just have the zone exist after all hope is lost and the owner no longer wants to invest time in it.
  6. This will never, ever happen. Dead zones become subarenas of zones that are still scrapping by. A zone owner that commits his still sometimes active zone to be a subarena is consigning his zone to be nothing more then an event, a oddity from times past to be gawked at for a few minutes and then forgotten again.
  7. Well, that's depressing. I can't see anyone being able to explain that in any way that justifies it.

A Ship-set replacement. Rendered in 3d with rolls. Originally released in 2004. Enjoy!
  10. While I do tend to fire up some old games for the nostalgia from time to time, I simply cant get into them for very long. Atari 2600 was pretty much my introduction to graphical video games, and while its neat to look them again, I find them too boring these days. Except for the 2 players ones, like Combat.

  12. People don't recognize when you are doing things right, only when you f-up. That is just how things are in the world in general. So good work will mostly go unmentioned, leaving the only way to gauge your success how fervent the commentary becomes when you make a perceived mistake. I have found the "where is yours?" mentality trumps pretty much most petty complaints. One must persevere through critical negativity to arrive at the destination with results that are better for it. Consumers are critical of products without thought to what it takes to make them exist. Human nature, that. You weed out the complaining that is just there to be negative from the truly thoughtful input and move forward. Too bad about the zone. But you shouldn't have given it up because of some Negative Nancey's didn't like what you were doing. Should have seen the spam hate when the new graphics were introduced. F-em. These days a zone that doesn't evolve some will stagnate and die.

  15. Subspace requires pretty hefty servers(at least connection wise) to run a decent player count. Most console games are p2p, this is how the game companies increase profit margin even more, by not running expensive servers. Who will run the server? Just take bf3 for instance. 64 players on pc, something like half or a quarter of that on a console? A modern PC has the horsepower and bandwidth potential to host something like that. A console does not. A console port of SS would be gimped like most things on a console. That doesn't mean It wouldn't be cool even with smaller player counts and that I wouldn't have interest in it. Without a company to foot the bill for servers and somehow profit from the game enough to keep them running, however, success would be limited.
  16. 60 Graphics Replaced. 40 Sounds. Still needs some tweaking but is at a good point for some possible feedback. Download, Backup your sound & graphics folders, Extract the zip into your Continuum folder, Enjoy! If you want to use the font, change the font option to medium. 17. Are you gonna have the text gauges as well? I have always preferred those. Tho I have recently started using the gauges mainly because I was making some new graphics for them. I have noticed a few drawbacks to them. They are small. Not so much the Icon itself, but the icon door numbers. This graphics needs to be a little more contrasting or larger. Also, while it seems the icondoor graphics are in place to show you your shrap count, It is not used. These graphics were fine when lower resolutions were common.

  20. Well some sort of command console would have to remain I suppose. But alot of things could be integrated into the GUI. Like instead of a zone op having to type commands relative to various players, they could interact with the GUI player list. Like right clicking a player would give a set of options based on the Op level. Or something.
  21. I would think it might be a good thing to do away with the chat commands that are not related to chat and put those in the GUI. Perhaps in one of those fancy clickable dragable windows. A auto collapsing command bar? Chat would be just that, communication with other players. Commands related to gameplay and stats would be menu/hotkey based.
  22. Those bases are hardcore.
  23. This should really happen. A large task to be sure, but all that content should be sorted and available here if ssdls is no more.
  24. Awesome RIchard! Keep at it buddy
