  1. One could try temporarily disabling and sort of software firewall, just in case its a connection problem. Firewall blocking the inbound ports. If that works, add a new rule manually to the firewall allowing the continuum.exe.
  2. Where did you download the game client from? Try the one here if other. Make sure to pick a resolution that your setup is capable of. Try windowed mode.
  3. The login for the game is not linked to any website. To create a new profile for the game simply enter a username and password into the game client. If it tells you the name is already in use, someone has already registered it, try another name. What you should see when have chosen a name not already in use is a message asking you if you would like to create a new player with the information you have entered. If you want any chance of recovering a lost or stolen password you should enter a valid email in the space provided. Welcome to the Game!

  8. Are you getting the speeds from your ISP that you are supposed to be getting? Did you ISP change something about the network which can sometimes cause older cable modems to have issues?

  10. When its closer to maybe beta you could have a skin competition or something to be voted on by the players. The top few get included in the working release. I made a skin or two for Cont UI and you define the areas of the screen that are buttons(where a specific mouse event will occur) Its been awhile since I have looked at so my memory about it is not the clearest. But basically you define "hotspots" such as pixel position 300,300 to 320, 320 is the next ship button or whatever. Then you have different images for inactive/mouseover/active button events. More or less. Its all configurable. Do you need all that, not at first I would say, but something to consider down the road.
  11. Just make it skin-able and all will be well.
  12. The Blue Berries will find you.

  14. 1) DCME has a few little bugs. I suggest instead of clicking "Save" Click "Save items" and uncheck all the eLVL data options. Then give it a go. 2) The only fly under or over tiles you can have are the predefined tiles in the tileset. This cannot be changed. However you can use LVZ to simulate having more tiles. 3) If you want to add custom animations onto a map, such as those from a animated gif, you would have to separate the gif into its component frames and then tile those frames sequentially as one large image, then setup the LVZ to interpret that image as an animation. Alternately you can add files to the LVZ that will replace graphics inherent to the game itself, such as having a custom ship, or custom bomb graphics(anything in continuum graphics and sound folders)
  15. I don't know the whole story, and I am sure there is more to it then just the surface I know. Cosmic Rift was a 2d spaceship game created by one of the lead programers of the original subspace, based on the infantry engine. There was a plethora of buzz around it and many subspace pilots(including myself) played there during the open beta. As soon as it went pay, the game itself just could not offer compelling reasons to stay despite all of its more advanced features. Continuum just proved to be a more "solid" game, and it cost nothing more then having the desire and equipment to play it. The population remaining faltered after a few years and the game died. Its not far off from what happened to subspace itself. Beta too long, went pay, cracked 1 day after retail, dead. Perhaps no cost to play the game, and nominal fees to develop and host servers to offset the costs of development. Some sort of benefit to being attached to a central name server? Universal ban network? Priority support? A louder voice in suggestions for development. A "registered" server would get "special" treatment.
  16. Whatever the case, you should really start to think about this. Look as far as Cosmic Rift to discover what happens with Open Beta to Pay. Your intentions of what you expect the costs to be should be made clear very soon in the life cycle of Beta.
  17. The realistic renderings by rocket engineers of the possibility of what an actual trans atmospheric space craft might look like are all pretty darn boring, and would most likely not make for a good SS ship. Slender looking, fragile things. SS ships are bulky armored war machines, far removed from anything even being considered by actual engineers.
  18. Or perhaps a heat-sink, needed to cool those blazing guns!
  19. I like em jab. Nice work. Sizing would be my only critical comment. WB too small, Jav could be a bit more bulky, Spider too big. Light ships: WB, Spider, Wzl. Medium ships: Ter, Shark. Heavy Ships: Jav, Levi, Lanc. That's just how they feel to me SVSish.
  20. Ya, it was fun! With stats and things!
