polix are you playing with settings on the forums cuz my posts keep coming out crazy weird: Anyone thought about using these for SS servers? Some linkage: http://www.raspberrypi.org http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/general-discussion/how-would-you-use-a-raspberry-pi-device/page-1 http://raspberrypihacks.com/ Can't wait to buy one. So far, the most interesting idea I've read so far was: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ QUOTE: or should i order 40 and create my own cloud in a computer? ;=) buy a bigtower, place in a 48port switch, put in a DC powersuply that brings 12v (because its the cheapest), create from wood slots for the raspberry"s ….. total price: raspberrys = 35$ * 40 Tower = 100$ Powersupply = 20$ Switch (used one)= 30$ 4 GB micro-SD = 5$ * 40 ———————————– 1750$ Power consumption: less than 40W Processor power: 28Ghz Ram: 10GB Disk : 160GB (with ultra high IOP) ————————————- Costs to get the first placed super computer: 9123 * 1750$ = 16M$ 9123 * 40W = about 365kW 9123 * 28Ghz = 255"444 Ghz 9123 * 10 GBram = 91"230 GBram 9123 * 160GB Disk = 1.2 Exabyte And you will have the worlds fastest super computer, if you compare this to the real price of the todays super computer 340M$ …. its the cheapest solution…. ;=)))))) ————————————– +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I noticed y'all were mentioning xsplit and twitch.tv I don't know why nobody does some livestreaming for SS, it would be hella fun to tune in and watch if I wasn't playing. I'm currently doing a stream of some recorded footage (24+hrs) from my xbox (I have an HD-PVR connected to PC to record the footage). It's still a bit choppy but I've been working out the kinks over the past month and a half. http://www.twitch.tv/XIM_Gaming If anyone has some questions for Xsplit (it's what I use), don't hesitate to ask. Also - as of right now you don't have to pay anything, it's still in beta. Although I did pre-purchase for the deal (was like 70% off) for 1 year sub. I'd love to help y'all get a twitch channel up. Best part about twitch is that you can have multiple people stream through your channel, not just one! Edit: lol'd i still have this sig

"Well seems like anything Priit worked with was a failure. What other projects besides subspace and Kazaa are credited to him? " 4 posts later "And I don't care what Priitk owns. This has nothing to do with everything he touches failing. Skype was failing, thats why he sold it. " OK - I originally ended this post right there. But I'd also like to point out how much of an idiot you are. If you made a revolutionary program, and was offered a contract for $X Million, and CONTINUE to be paid to develop for it, would you "sell" it too? Avast, you have absolutely no idea how the business world works. If no company ever came around to Priit (I believe it was initially MSN), Skype would be nowhere right now. What would be the point in even developing it then? You don't know what goes through Priit's developmental process. He probably planned the whole thing - Make a great thing, then make money from it. I mean, it's not too hard to understand. Or would you rather try to market it by yourself with a huge chance of just blowing your money into the wind?
-
I absolutely do not believe Kazaa or subspace was a failure. What makes you think that? Because Kazaa went through a lawsuit and was taken down by government laws? Because the dwindling population in subspace is attributed to Priit in what way shape or form? Priit was not the one who made the game, get that straight. And your argument defeats itself when you say: "You can post about his company all day. But these hardly mean anything about an individual. First of all his company is founded by Jaan, and various other founders. He has always followed Jaans lead. And has been more of a follower. Saying I am the best because my squad is the best is similar to the retarded logic you are using here. You are not good because your squad is undefeatable. You individually can suck. What makes the success is a combination of players." And guess what makes a success as well? A company, a combination of people. So your statement defeats itself. And, just because a person "follows" a teammate does not make him a follower. They are a team. They work together. "Well seems like anything Priit worked with was a failure" Really? Did you even see the post I made? "Priit being a success or failure was never the argument." Then why are you defending the accusation in the very same post?: "You can post about his company all day. But these hardly mean anything about an individual. " "First of all his company is founded by Jaan, and various other founders. He has always followed Jaans lead. And has been more of a follower. Saying I am the best because my squad is the best is similar to the retarded logic you are using here. You are not good because your squad is undefeatable. You individually can suck. What makes the success is a combination of players. What was the point in fingering that little part out? Trying to get a jab in at priit? You're not even arguing anything, you're just stating random things. Also, to defend priit in your joust on jaan - if you worked along side someone your whole career, why would you split up if everything made sense? Priit makes money with Jaan. Jaan, Priit and others have a history together as a team, and they continue to make money. What exactly is your argument? It makes perfect sense. What they're doing is called being smart and productive.

So, I've been away from this game for a while, but I joined a clan from another game that plays a few other games. We are called Pwning Inc. (http://www.gametracker.com/clan/pwninginc/) I suggested to the clanleader, another game (This one) So I went to go get him all set up, and he clicked SSCU Trench Wars, but it game him the message you get from when you try to connect to offline zones: "Failed to connect to server. Check to make sure the server is online (it should appear in yellow or green in the zone list) and that you are currently connected to the internet. If problem persists, seek help at the Tech Support Forums found at www.subspacehq.com" The zone list is green, and he gets a ping for the zone as well, averaging 100 (he's in Australia). So I ask him to connect to Extreme Games. It works. I tell him to ?go trenchwars. As it downloads, it stops at 70%ish for the map download, and then disconnects him So we try again. He gets into EG, then does ?go trenchwars and downloads the map. So I tell him to type "?go" for the public arena. Disconnected from server. What's the issue here? I asked him to lower his resolution but the problem persists. I spoke to LizardFuel on TW during the whole ordeal. He left a message with Turban cuz he didn't know. LizardFuel suspects it's some type of setting he has set. When I first asked for help, LF asked for his IP, which I supplied, and said it didn't match, which is understandable I guess, since when I asked my friend (superhugo), for his IP, he said "external, or..?" and I said "external, I guess" which is the one I gave to LF. I dunno about that stuff, so I guess I could've just gave the wrong IP address. Anyways, anyone know? I'd like to get my clan into this game.
-
Yes. In fact I'm not sure if the server could grasp this game style in any better way. I think it is the best, by process of elimination.
