Alright, then a nodrop brick that reverses your velocity
-
Is this possible? You (freq 0) drop a one-block brick that is aligned with the other team (freq 1) (or if possible, every team but yours). This one-block brick appears in front of you and only lasts 2 seconds. The idea is that you hit it with your ship and bounce back the other way without needing a wall. I'd kill for something like this.
-
Honestly summoner and lancs were designed for privs/super richies that work as a tight team with other superships. Just be happy you get to use it at all.
-
I can also attest that this happened. Fat mouse's little freq defended unix's little freq. The jackpot was also abnormally high for 1:30 am est at night (~34k). Not claiming outright that unix raised it, but I was on at 12:30 am est and logged off when it got won around that time. Needless to say I was floored when I logged on in the middle of the night, nobody on but privs doing something weird, and there's a 34k jackpot being won, uncontested, by two priv freqs of 3.

lol, i know they're ridiculous, but that's the kind of thing these massively useless ships need to even be compe!@#$%^&*ive... Levis and Spiders in center are basically free kills, while in bases Levis can only bombline well, something other ships can do now thanks to TacNuke being widely available, and Spiders in bases are... well, slower Terriers. As for Arnk, I'm fairly sure his idea of variation in ship design means each ship only has one possible role for it to fill. I'm not even being sarcastic. He's said this directly. I just don't understand how he gets from point A (each ship pigeonholed) to point B (more variation in ship design).

lol, you did edit the b-word, but where's the post? It was mostly meant humorously, even though the very real basis for it just adds to the hilarity... Continuum zones are not the be-all end-all of precedent. Now if you took as precedent every single other online game in existence, you would understand why we're all used to having admins and mods not be part of the very game they're hosting.

New item type: Computer. General idea: Each computer is a specialized possibly-powerful item only available to one or two ships. This is a response to almost every item being available to almost all the ships, making every ship not-so-unique. Also, each minigroup has at least two computers, so there must be a choice. None of these are signature. These items are intended to balance the extreme power disparities between ships. They are NOT intended to promote superships or item spammage. For example, these 3/4 computers might seem very strong, but that's because Spider and Leviathan are currently extremely underpowered: Point Defense System: mobilizes part of the internal hull under a computer's control to better protect against pinpoint attacks, but sacrifices general strength Ships 34 bulletdamage -24 bulletdamageup -6 burstdamage -121 bombdamage +106 or Thunder System: retrofits hull with feedback relays that would normally destroy the ship, if not for an ever-watchful balancing computer. Ships 34 speed +2 maxspeed +7 thrust +5 maxthrust +9 rotation +4 recharge -3 Pinpoint system because spiders and leviathans have almost no hope of survival if an enemy gets close. Thunder system because spiders and leviathans need massive help centering. These are examples. Either of these items would be overpowered on any other ship, but that's the point of Computers: put powerful items only on ships that need them, and not 123 567 like every other item out there now. Will post more ideas later if there's any response at all or I feel like it.

I was trying to figure out some idea to suggest along the lines of making Spider a good defender. This sounds cool, but it's overly complex, and still does nothing to stop sharks.

It felt so good to read this thread. This is what I've been arguing about for months. Glad to see it's finally hit home for everyone else. Unix needs his mod powers stripped, immediately. I won't even tell you why: if you, speaking generally to any dev, mod, or owner, actually cares or wants to know what's been going on when you're not around, get on your freaking zone and ask: "Hey, who here has seen Unix abuse mod powers?" Here's a tip: ?ignore all the privs and Unix's squadmates before you ask, or you might miss the ten or so 'normies' responding amidst the flood of propoganda from the rich people that benefit from Unix's abuses. Funny thing is, even some of the rich people aren't on his side, like fear-evil. Anyway, about the basing. I liked the 'item spam !@#$%^&*', but the devs here all have a 'vision' that has nothing to do with what their population wants. We can't change that. I think that limiting items to 1 max but having their 'reprize time' being modified by mounts or such is a great idea that combines skill and lack of spammage. It also slightly devalues Lancasters, Antideath, and dying-to-restock in general. For instance, one defense mount prizes a rep every 20 seconds and a burst every 25 seconds, while two defense mounts prizes rep every 10 and burst every 12.5? Have them deduct from the total reps/bursts you've bought, so you still choose whether or not you want to buy them. I like this system - it removes the 'strength of dying' aspect, too, something I always thought was a little strange. Currently, killing an enemy shark can actually be a bad idea, because it goes from a fast-moving but unthreatening hull (out of items) to a re-summoned fully stocked godship with like 7 items to spam and slaughter you with. Most of the things said in this thread are exactly right. We can only pray somebody actually listens. I do believe that even a large majority outcry won't affect Arnk Dylie or Dr Brain, so it will be a very difficult battle trying to fix HyperSpace. Sad thing is, our forum team doesn't even have a forum lanc, so we're pretty much doomed.
-
lol I'd be on Unix's side in this except for the fact that I and many others have seen him appear on freqs that couldn't possibly be joined. We were all waiting to hop from a team of 7 to a team that currently had 10 ( ) when suddenly Unix appears on the vet defending team making it 7v11... So you are quite publicly a hypocrite and we all know you would never balance the power out of your own team.

this was the funniest thing I've read in awhile, mostly because it's all entirely true; the shark recharge nerf most especially. I've almost posted like 7 times about how nerfing the shark's recharge by tidbits doesn't do jack all, but every time I wrote the post, I realized Unix would just come on here and blame the players somehow or talk about minor changes to ?shipinfo, Sharpflame would just make some smartdonkey comment, Arnk Dylie would refuse to listen to any idea that points out his item set is terribly done, and Dr Brain would [read the thread and not care if HS dies]... then I'd delete my post and not bother edit: fixed
-
I know this isn't a brick, but what if there was an item-wiping field? If you enter it and you're an enemy, it removes all your reps and bursts? Just trying to think of something to provide defense against the currently unstoppable sharks.
-
Actually, I was thinking of a brick item that made your maxspeed 0 for 10 seconds... meaning you can't move at all, but you also can't be repelled. That could be very interesting. It could help open up a new role for ships, a true 'defender' rather than simply a 'reverse rusher' like we have now. This could be continued with other additions.
-
Random thought: does the existence of energy infusion mean bricks can have certain effects on your ship other than maxing your energy? If so, what kind of effects?
-
Yeah, I get that, and figured it was risky to spoof Arnk. That's why I didn't say anything the first time.
-
Logged on today, Rareitanium banned me literally for no reason. Anyone know how I get an explanation for this, or get this undone? This is getting a little stupid, as I was banned a few days ago by Arnk Dylie for making an alt called 'Arnk Dylien', logging on and saying 'I admit it, we need to revert this item set' once and immediately logging off. That's all. Somebody's ego bruised a little bit? Anyway, I doubt there are any impartial or fair moderators in Hyperspace that will actually help me out here, so I don't expect much. An explanation, at least, would be cool. I'll even take the inevitable arrogant/condescending answer, if that's all that's available.
-
Exactly... EI needs 'the right time', meanwhile a mount sits useless forever.
-
First off, please drop the arrogant at!@#$%^&*ude you take towards everybody in the zone. I am not whining. I am not the only one pointing out the flaws in this event. As for squad growth being #1, the majority of HS players don't care. I can probably list all the players that will participate in squads, and they already segregate themselves from the rest of us. So, seriously, when are you going to stop catering the minority of rich players? HS lives or dies on POPULATION, not on MONEY. Haha, I can't do that, because the next event is squads too.
-
Basically, because Falcon Missile fires faster, so its shrapnel adds up quicker. Also, all of the figures I discussed don't take into account prox vs no prox. Cluster Bomb does not have prox so 1/4 to 1/2 of its shrap won't appear (ship or wall will absorb it)
-
I love this idea. I have never and will never use a brick solely because of their current cost. Energy Infusion is ridiculously expensive.
-
Alright, make the !@#$%^&*fire Missile's delay 51, equal to Salvo. Problem solved. Or, god forbid we get creative, and have !@#$%^&*fire Missile come with -3 burstmax.
-
This is a fallacy. Our otherwise lack of a tournament does not mean yours is great. As for 'easily making a squad of five', do you really think most of us can do that in the face of your exceedingly complex rules? Some people show up, some don't, some people show up at different times, some don't participate at all, 2 out of 5 duel... what? You do realize that 1: There aren't enough people for HS to have true squads? 2: HS is already factioned into informal squads? No, I in fact said the next event is squad based so ruin the next event with squads and let normal people participate in this one. As for your 'simple' DT not being able to get squads !@#$%^&*embled, maybe that's because it's not simple? And there aren't enough people for squads?
-
Not that anyone noticed, but the !@#$%^&*fire Missile was only for Jav and Leviathan. If you want to make a rusher out of those, go ahead. I have a serious problem with this ultrageneralization. Nobody wants a one hit wonder. They want a useable weapon. You expect a Levi to bomb someone and then finish them with guns?
-
Any feedback on my !@#$%^&*fire missile idea? I think it matches the level 1 shrapnel bomb you wanted. edit: Is it possible to change the damage done by bombs? The bomb system is severely hampered by all bombs being the same damage...
-
I propose a replacement to Cluster Bomb, something that will break the step-formula currently in place and replace a useless bomb. It is also only available to ships 2 and 4, giving them some needed uniqueness. !@#$%^&*fire Missile Buy Price $60000 Sell Price $25900 Exp 5500 Ships 2 4 A devastating rapid-fire weapon from another age, the !@#$%^&*fire Missile drains massive amounts of energy for the ability to flood an area with shrapnel. bomblevel +1 shrapnel +2 bombdelay = 40 bombenergy = 425 maxmines = 5 minedelay = 11 mineenergy = 305 The mines function as quick as String of Pearls, except at three times the energy cost (following !@#$%^&*fire's theme). The mines are a secondary function for flavor, and I don't want them used like String of Pearls (i.e. overpowered re!@#$%^&*edness). This setup allows !@#$%^&*fire Missiles to be used 'vanilla' (i.e. without SMulti or SBooster) at 1063 energy per second for 2.2 shots/second, which produces 5 shraps a second, a rate equal to Cluster Bomb with both SMulti and SBooster right now. This setup results in a short but deadly burst of level 1 bombs and shrapnel. This setup is probably more useful for a Javelin than a Leviathan. Or, alternatively, (Wow, 2 different uses for the same bomb? Who would have thought!) , with SMulti and SBooster, !@#$%^&*fire Missile changes drastically. It becomes a 125 delay bomb that costs 500, draining a modest 400 energy per second for a shot every 1.25 seconds, producing 6.4 shraps a second. This beats Heat Reaver + SMulti + SBooster by .7 shraps a second, which is the standard 'step up' (TacNuke 4.3, Cluster 5.0, Heat Reaver 5.7). This setup results in a moderately timed bomb (same delay as Heat Reaver and close to Falcon) with a drain about twice that of most other bombs, but producing massive amounts of shrapnel. This setup is probably more useful for a Leviathan than a Javelin. I fully believe that something like this could provide an alternative to TacNuke for Leviathans, offering almost 2 more shraps a second in exchange for less splash damage from the actual bomb. Let me know what you think.
