Cheese is a psychotic toddler. Just mute him entirely and move on. Plus, Arnk rules.
  2. THIS.
  3. Yeah, Sharks are just irritating griefer ships. They pose literally no threat for any reason other than silly cloak leaking... meanwhile their team is annoyed the shark player is doing nothing, and the enemy team is annoyed that they have to keep x on and chase this stupid little ship all over. I think they need a total concept overhaul. Personally, I'd give them a very high bombspeed and take away cloaking. I can see them as tactical EMP deliverers, whereas weasels try to bounce EMPs in, sharks can get up close due to their small size and fire directly.
  4. Holy crap. Nanomite Swarm takes 1500 kills + a kill for each death? I thought it was 'your deaths count as kills' and I was like hey, that's not too bad. But the way it really is is nuts.

Classic example of exactly what people are talking about when they bring up Arnk's ridiculous behavior. Nobody was being rude to you in my case or the OP's case... YOU came out of the woodwork and started with the inexplicable attacks. My 'wtf is with all the useless new engines' was first in pubchat and then a question to you once you responded. I spent the next half an hour calmly explaining myself to you as you insulted, wheedled, and basically thought you were being a badass and totally 'putting down a troll' - when you were actually just blowing everything out of proportion and twisting reality. Pretty much what you're doing now, actually.

Don't be ridiculous. Asking 'wtf is with all the useless new engines' in pub chat is an invitation for discussion, not a personal attack on anyone. You chose to warp reality and turn it into a personal attack on you. You did the same thing to the OP of this thread. Yes, mods are held to higher standards throughout the entire Internet. Yes, you are expected to be courteous. If you can't manage that, then you're expected to be silent. Mods directly contribute to the atmosphere and thus the longevity of a game community. What more proof do you need than people quitting because of you? You go ahead and bitterly tell us all to 'toughen up buttercup' as we leave, right up until nobody but angry, aggressive, and obnoxious players like you are left. Oh wait... lol...

Yes, the mods in Hyperspace have always been one of its biggest problems. I've always been of the opinion that if Dr Brain really doesn't give a flying crap about the zone like he says, he should hand it off to someone who will actually take care of it. He and the rest of the mod staff need to face certain realities - which they won't, because those realities make their callous attitude inexcusable. It's cognitive dissonance. They don't want to face the truth. YES, ABRASIVE MODS ARE A BAD THING. YES, ABUSIVE MODS ARE A BAD THING. YES, ARNK HAS BEEN A DOUCHEBAG FOR AWHILE. I actually came up against this myself. Something happened to Arnk IRL that filled him with anger and made him quick to start crap with people. I noticed because I used to talk to Arnk sometimes, and he responded like a normal human being. He was actually an interesting and nice person. Then, after a few months gone, I came back, and noticed that there were several new engines that did nothing interesting and were generally underpowered or pointless. I said, 'wtf is with all the useless new engines?' after which Arnk erupted on me in a positively Vesuvian fashion. He completely ignored what I was actually saying, instead willfully believing that I was somehow insulting him. He was cursing, screaming, personally insulting me, and generally acting insane. My experience almost exactly mirrored the one posted by the OP in this thread. It's one of the major reasons I haven't come back to Hyperspace, his kind of insane reversal in personality and his aggressive attack of literally anyone that questions even the slightest thing in the zone. Now some of you may ROFL and LOL and say GOOD RIDDANCE because you don't like me or because you're all mostly pieces of shit, but you should at least recognize that Arnk has become unbalanced, and something needs to be done about him. Maybe exile him for awhile, let him cool off. Using Hyperspace as his place to explode on people without consequences is a pretty bad idea from everyone's point of view.

    ZOMG BOT R DED

It was probably Arnk over-reacting to somebody innocently asking why he put in a bunch of useless reactors 'Useless? I'll show you useless, you ungrateful jerk! Try using your reactors with the zone down! AHHH!!!'
  9. of course it does. The best way in the game to make money is to make a new name, get in a lanc at 100 xp, and never fire another shot. Just sit and leech $40-$70 a kill. Totally retarded that as a 12k xp player I am basically barred from making any more money. The amount of money you get at that level is negligible to none, while the money you get as a newbie is huge.
  10. No, the reason privs can't be allowed in HyperSpace is the borked item set. Transwarp, lightning fields, coffin makers, and brickwarping exist for almost no other reason than letting rich old vets grief pubs. Yes, brickwarp isn't a problem now, but any rich ass who feels like it can hop in a cloaking shark, TW to a flag game, and die over and over until he finally lands a coffin on a team. GG cleared. Think it depends on skill? No, because the rich ass can just do it again and again and eventually your flag game WILL bust. And for anyone who wants to respond with a variation on 'cry more' or 'get skill', well, you're an idiot. This is a simple assessment of game design. I guarantee you nothing you can do could stop a TWing cloaking shark trying to coffin you. Either he will get you eventually, or all the attention you focus on him gets you killed anyway. Let me rephrase what proto is saying... 'when there are only 4 people in the zone it's possible to have fun at all because the mini exists'. There we go. Centering is the most boring and slow thing I've ever experienced in a game. Please don't try to make it a mainstream activity. Everything that made it interesting, like bountying, turrets, and mini, have all been raped.

    Entropy

Too bad Arnk had to go and remove a great aspect of bomb design by setting all the shrap levels... he could have just set some, he didn't need to set all. I say too bad, because the other changes all rule.
  13. First off, it's not a macro. I type it every time. Second, it's not a comeback. I really do consider you dumb as hell, and I am asking you not to contribute your pointless and shortsighted comments.
  14. Oh wow, you thought of one single instance where higher recharge helps you RECHARGE for a spam weapon. Too bad that's not what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about sacrifices for extra +recharge and how they aren't worth it. Nevermind that the combination of a warbird and mass driver is ineffective regardless. Corey, don't talk. The internet has enough retards, ty. Protocol_, don't talk. The internet has enough retards, ty.
  15. Emit, don't talk. The Internet has enough retards, ty.
  16. The main problem with the ten minute limit is, nobody would want to sit out of the action for 5 minutes to drop a third of the flags. If I had control and a team had 10 minutes to win, I'd experiment with a 1 or 2 flag carrying max, but a drop timer of 30 seconds. I believe this would demand a higher level of skill and team coordination. It would also allow people to drop OR get back to the action as quick as they like.
  17. I specifically addressed how the 'basing happening at all' argument is not a defense against the fact that it is not happening enough, yet Arnk responds with it anyway.
  18. Like I told Arnk, the response given every time someone mentions lack of basing is that 'there was basing last night'. Sorry, but you guys need to realize that one basing game one time a night does not constitute a defense. The less chance that basing is happening each time a given player logs on, means the greater chance that player won't bother logging on at all. Basing is happening. NOT ENOUGH BASING is happening. So you admit HyperSpace is being killed. We can disagree on the causes, but action needs to be taken.
  19. Really? REALLY? So you admit that the current setup of the zone that encourages rich players to mass brick and field isn't anyone's idea of fun?
  20. None of this really matters anymore. The population is too low to really support any activity other than center vulching. Basing may happen in specific instances, but the chance it's happening while any given player has time to play is low.
  21. You obviously weren't listening then. I didn't say your arguments were theories. I said they were just plain wrong. In almost any HS encounter a ship that sacrifices important things for +recharge is at a disadvantage. You may notice a *minimal* difference between +0 and +10 recharge, but +0 recharge is stil actually 1000-1500 recharge depending on ship. On the other hand, the difference between +0 and +10 energy can be almost *double* the direct survivability. In specific cases it can be even more - e.g. the Warbird. 875-1000 energy affords virtually instant death vs a shrapnel bomb from a Javelin. Recharge does nothing at all in this case. However, getting your ship up to 1300-1400 energy allows you to survive 2 and sometimes even 3 bombs depending on the time in between them. In this case added recharge would still do almost nothing because the time between bombs is so short relative to the '10 second recharge rule'. When you're faced with multiple bombs, would you rather have +1 recharge (20 or 30 energy before the next bomb) or +1 energy (65 energy before the next bomb)? And that is the minimal case of the Warbird. On larger ships +energy can mean HUNDREDS of points difference, while recharge does *not* scale up with size. In fact, it's worse. Even in the one case where you told me a centering bounty warbird could use recharge - those centering folks, back when HS was alive, depended on 1400+ energy to survive rockets, spammers, and gangers. They did not depend on their '1500 recharge' as opposed to the enemies' '1300 recharge'...
  22. Yesterday, Arnk was arguing to me that +recharge is equally as useful as +energy. As in, a +2 energy/+10 recharge ship is equally as powerful as a +10 energy/+2 recharge ship.
  23. Corey, this is far in the future world of 2010. By then, most of HS' pop will be bots, because the real players all left.
  24. I'm not complaining. That's what you teenagers don't understand. I'm discussing ways to improve the zone. I'm not saying the zone is bad.
  25. In the year 2010... I predict that two to four resets from now, Only WBs and Javs will be allowed to center, with no bountying at all. The center itself will just be one big empty square. All consumable items (rep/burst/thor) will simply be removed to cut down on 'spam'. All popular equipment items will come with terrible drawbacks, which will result in Jedlik Dynamo being the most used reactor. Whenever the zone detects actual basing happening, all Lances on all teams are automatically brickwarped to punish players for being a-holes. Players that have ?usage above 16 hours a day will be given godly items and the ability to transport to anywhere instantly. These teleporting super ships will also be given access to weapons (cobalt) and items (coffin) that can destroy entire freqs singlehandedly. The balancing factor, specially designed by Dr Brain, is that 'you can quit if you don't like it.' Anyone who protests when the teleporting super ships disrupt gameplay for the rest of the zone will be denounced as an a-hole and reminded of the balancing factor. A bot will continually scan the zone for whatever item is most popular over the last 10 minute period. This item will then be automatically nerfed. A bot will continually scan the zone for whatever base is most popular over the last 10 minute period. This base will then be dipped in week old cow manure, and will not be allowed to be hosed off. To save space, Spiders and Levis will be combined into one ship, which chooses 'Guns' or 'Bombs' and is otherwise exactly the same. This new 'Spidiathan' will inexplicably be unable to buy the reactor that would be the best for it. To save space, WBs and Javs will be combined into one ship, which chooses 'Guns' or 'Bombs' and is otherwise exactly the same. This new 'Warvelin' will be hard to play, because it simultaneously wants to kamikaze suicide rush/run away all the damn time. Weasels will still be irritating. The future will be so magical and different! I can't wait!
