well while i was running an older version of the plugin on confess' server, his biller went offline for a few hours (and when the biller goes down you can login under any name with any password) and someone managed to log in under a name that had access to the arena, but wasn't really that player. So i figured if i added macid's that it would only allow users from certain machines to log in. The MacID filter is purely optional, no MacId's have to be tied to names, it can just be based off of the players screen name. EDIT: and i whipped this plugin up a few years ago when i was still developing for MERC (when the plugin was based only off of a single text file, and had no in-game commands), and i was only a moderator in a sub arena, yet the dev'ing was taking place in a different arena. The secure plugin was merely a last resort so that if someone happened to stumble upon the arena, nothing would be compromised, and you would not have to take the time to move everything to a different arena. Editx2: I also understand fully that the plugin is not that hard to make, and concerning confess' statement earlier, an 8ball plugin isn't that hard to make either, yet it is still available to the community, regardless of it's importance. Some of the features i have added to this plugin though make for a more dynamic system with the options available. Rather than just "if (!CMPSTR(p->name,"Dark_Nexus"))" just recently did i decide to port things over to build 45 and add some new features.

like i said i would be more than happy to supply you with the source, drop me a message at darknexus@cableone.net and i will be sure to reply back with the source, thanks again.

it's good if you have a dev team that are not moderators, or if the biller is offline, to verify macids. i would also like to thank you for the un-requested and un-needed opinion.

actually you add names and macids to an access list, and when someone tries to enter it compares their name and macid (if you supplied an ID) against the ones in the access list. The intial access rights are set in a .txt file, but more can be added later in game. .txt file looks like this Name:Arenas:MacID's Dark_Nexus:0,test,#nexus:16533325,45696652 if the player is not found in the access list, or there is a MacId mismatch, it sends the player an Access-denied message (based off of arenas.ini where the messages can be changed) and then *kill's the player for a set amount of minutes (also found in arenas.ini).

I have been working on a security plugin that limits access to arenas based on configurable access rights. What I am really looking for is high traffic zones to help test the effeciency of the plugin, and root out any bugs i haven't found yet. The plugin is pretty stable as I have been doing some testing of my own in a development server. The only big issue (besides the possibility of the plugin being malicious ) is that the bot requires SysOp access to send *info to verify MacId's. In an ideal situation, the zone owner could set up a bot to run the plugin (avoiding any passwords being given out) and allowing me to configure the plugin; then a few days later the log file is emailed back to me. If you can help out, send me a message at darknexus@cableone.net If you are concerned about running the plugin in your zone, I will be more than happy to foward the source to you. The following is a link to provide some more details on the plugin: http://darknexus.no-ip.com/c++/bots/secure Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

well out of the context of 0's and 1's, i use it to swap out characters in a string, it works, and i just don't see how it works. maybe explain in being used to swap out characters in a character array? thanks for the help

i can remember reading about this in one of my books, but can't remember for the life of me what the heck it actually does. i saw it used to swap variables without using a temporary variable int a = 1, b = 0; a ^= b ^= a ^= b; this sets a to 0 and b to 1 obviously it is overloaded so the original would be a = a ^ b; anyone know?

yeah but the problem with that is, not everyone really wants to go off to war since they have better things to do right here in america. social contracts 2 win

It is definatley not the way to run things down there when you are peeing on prisoners and showing them in naked piles. But what about the Nick Berg incident in where an American PRISONER was brutally be-headed in revenge for what we had done to Iraqi prisoners. Do two wrongs make a right? No. This just shows the kind of people the American Military forces have to deal with in Iraq. I would agree that we seem to involve our-selves in a lot of international affairs. But what if America just didn't give a -*BAD WORD*-? I am not saying it would be the end of the world, and I am not saying everything would be perfect: but what if? Early in the topic it was suggested that we take all the American soldeirs who abused the Iraqi prisoners to an international trial of sorts. I believe part of the reason we are involved in this entire war is to bring "evil" leaders and terrorist orginizations down and put them on trial. Being that I live in America I typically support what decisions my nation's government makes. Even though there will always be fault in these kind of decisions. The media always portrays everything that we do as wrong and evil. How many news casts have you seen in which you see pictures of Iraqi's supporting American forces? The media will always cover the cons instead of the pros. Reports always say that we could have prevented 9-11, or not killed this family or that one. Of course, everything always looks better in hind-sight.

As stated before, the whole point of war is to kill and subdue an enemy. So war must ultimately come with death, for civilians and active duty military members...this is not dodgeball. Look at WWII, around 55 million died in that war, and what percentage of those deaths were civilians? I do not believe that we are aiming out civilians, some of them just end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Here is an idea of how many civilians were killed in just 5 years of combat. World-wide combat, but a war none the less. http://www.hitler.org/ww2-deaths.html What is that comapared to the amount of non-military personell that are killed today in wars like desert storm, and operation iraqi freedom. Maybe a little sized down to compare to the type of war going on now, the korean war which left 54,000 americans dead. How many more civilians would have died under a terrorist's reign in iraq? it is not good that children and what not are being killed in what i believe to be accidents, but we can't always just look at the photo's of the dead children and civilians and then form your opinions on the conflict. you still have to look at the whole picture.

if you have a problem with america here are your options: 1) stfu 2) if you live in america, go to china and then see how much you hate america, stfu 3) if you do not live in america, stfu nobody really cares how much you hate our country. american2win

In order to prevent unwanted bots from entering your zone you must do: 1) go to your server.ini under [Misc] and set AllowVIEClients=0 2) in the same folder where your subgame2.exe is running, create a text file called, VIP.txt. 3) in that file list the names of the bots you would like to grant access to 4) have the bot enter the zone to make sure that it works. if not check the spelling of the bots name the bots file, and in VIP.txt and if all that does not work post here yeah it is a little late of me to be posting this, but just incase he did not get it figured out meanwhile let this --> ninja guy entertain you. he told me he was in the cool kids club, members only let me tell you.

I guess i can't completely express the goals of ground warefare, but if you are moving you are still running, you are not really supposed to slow down unless you want too. In real life, if you are running, friction typically does not gradually slow you down as you work, you slow down as you want. Granted friction is a major factor in running. Just my 2 cents.

so you want someone to mail you the cd? congratulations

as long as the dimensions of each frame are the same and your bm2 image is 4 frames high by 10 frames wide, it will divide the width by 10 and the height by 4 to figure out the dimensions of your shipset. For instance i have a ship bm2 that is 1000 by 400, so that means each frame is (1000 / 10) 100 by (400 /4 ) 100 pixels. In other words just make the frames even and the image needs to have 4 frames going up and 10 frames going accross.
