  1. that's cool, but I don't think it would matter too much if we just used a CMS. Though I'm open to suggestions!
  2. yes.
  3. I disagree. I think we should play up the chat part of the game. A web-based chat client might help, I guess. The gameplay is better than any other online game, but it just doesn't look as good. We just have to stop putting 'Ancient top-down 2d asteroids game' as our description (OK, not in those words, but you get the point), and put something dynamic. We need a team who will advertise. We need to play up the fact that playing for ages doesn't give you a huge advantage like it does in RPGs, for example. You don't level up, you just get better. Top-down gameplay means that tactics are easier as you can see exactly what is going on. SubSpace CAN compete, as it's not just what looks best that wins, it's the easiest game to play, but with the best progression as you improve, with the best gameplay and player interaction. I don't play other games, but I gather that there's little interaction in most MMORPGs, and it becomes a question of how often you play, not necessarily how skilled you are. SS is purely skill-based. Consider this: chess is still incredibly popular even compared with other board games like Trivial Pursuit, Hungro Hippos, whatever. It's because you know that there's no gimmicks: it's not about how good it looks, it's about how much fun and how challenging it is to play. SS is good, we just need to market ourselves better. Over and out.
  4. Going to make a definitive SS news site. Thinking of making it pretty simple, maybe using wordpress and inviting a couple of people from each zone to post news on the site as well as people to moderate and post general news. I don't want the site to do anything else, just be an independent news portal where any SS players know they can go. I got the domain subspacewire.com, and I'm thinking of giving it a newspaper theme. Anyway, I just need a couple of people to help me with it. Just drop me a line.
  5. one question, why is altec allowed to host zones if he STOLE a zone from its rightful owner and gave it to someone who isn't even on staff? Forgive me if i'm mistaken about that.
  6. I spoke to ekted a couple of days ago, and he hasn't HEARD from Priit, let alone made any new developments, Continuum-wise.
  7. stop posting everywhere with the same message. I didn't vote no, I'm just saying it sounds like you've just come up with the idea on the spur of the moment (dare I say it, to try and get people into Super Fortress?) and are already asking for signups before even considering its logistics?
  8. 'that someone' is me. I tried to run the SS olympics two years ago, with SimonSays and Polix. Got pretty far actually, just for one reason or another (e.g. it's incredibly hard to schedule) it didn't happen. We had a site, ss-olympics.net or something, even. I made one simple mistake - the idea was to host it in its own zone. I collected most of the SSC zone settings, but I realise now that to try and host it in a separate zone was a mistake, and if it was attempted again, it should be run it in all the separate zones. No offense, but why would it be you to run it if it ever happened? :/ don't bother, is all I'm saying. A half-!@#$%^&*ed attempt at a league without any preparation is a dumb idea. It'd need months of preparation, a site, and meetings with the individual zone staff to even bother.
  9. If anyone knows PHP and wants to do a little for me and the good people of RedStar (on a league site which is 85% done) then it would be much appreciated. Drop me a line in game or post here. Thanks.
  10. oh i see what you mean. Well another biller reset is inevitable - i simply can't imagine how big the database must be.
  11. Shh zcraft. Couldn't we have a formula that says that all names reset after say 2 months of not being used unless they're on a short list of names that don't reset. Usage should affect it so that they reset between 2 days and 3 months. If a squadowner name is reset then the squad should be granted to a random squad member. And maybe it's time we restricted the number of accounts people can have.
  12. what SVS said
  13. uh yeah.. well BZ will be alive sooner rather than later.. we have some awesome stuff planned, and i want to take advantage of the 'wow factor' that will be available to us if we show off what it can do before anyone else. I disagree that eg's ASSS test is the make or break for the server.. ASSS WILL become the dominant server. All that a failure in their test would mean is that its development would be slower.
  14. Are you fricking re!@#$%^&*ed? Yeah, Priit is the only one that can add IPs to the list that can connect to the biller.. i'm sure if there was actually a decent host out there then he'd add it...
  15. For Unsubtle. (www.unsubtle-squad.tk) and moderator is me for the time being until others have signed up to forums.
  16. two years? doubt that it had that much usage
  17. I can't say, not enough evidence, you really need a whole lot more to even think about that question.
  18. 7:PLATINUM-HALO> the billing server auto deletes names. 7:PLATINUM-HALO> it is called a formula, it use one and calculates out ok this name is ready to be deleted. There. Didn't ask for how this formula works :/
  19. and also i was under the impression that nicks with over 500 usage and/or on a squad never reset
  20. eh?
  21. that's *really* odd
  22. i know, i meant what was referred to in the BanG policy as 'Billing Administrators.'
  23. Since the original topic was closed... I love the 'Extreme Exceptions' section, I mean, honestly, is anyone going to sexually harr!@#$%^&* another player if they killed them ingame / phone the server host to try and get a zone shut down? I guess you have to cover every eventuality... Seriously though, it's nice to see that the council (i'm !@#$%^&*uming) have finally agreed on some WRITTEN rules for BanG. This i'm sure isn't the end of the debate concerning BanG, but perhaps soon, it will be obvious what rule breaking is. A few concerns I have, though, are with the loophole covering, which just seems to say that Billing Administrators can netban for effectively whatever they choose (at their discretion) Is a Billing Admin. someone with billing access, or a level 0 BanG op?

    Lag coma

Talking to grel last night, he believes that it has gone entirely (though he hasn't been watching HS closely)
  25. Nothing to say really, just put the URL as comingsoon.com or something.
