Your router probably doesn't support NAT loopback. That means that you won't be able to connect to your public facing IP from within your local network. You can see if it's working by having a friend try to connect.

I don't use Windows 8, but this sounds like it could be UAC data redirection. Check to see if it's storing it in %localappdata%/VirtualStore/Program Files (x86)/Continuum. You can get there by typing that in the address bar of explorer.

It is up. Most of the zones are back up. You have to redownload the zone list. Click zones on the main screen, make sure ssdir.playsubspace.com is in the directory server address list, click download.

What biller are you using? The one that doc compiled for linux will ban anyone using wine, because it will have a machine id of 0. It's an easy fix if you can recompile it.

Are you using wine to run Continuum? I think they are using a biller that bans anyone connecting with a machine id of 0, which will happen with wine.

Each ship has a different cost for xradar/aw/stealth that is set in the arena settings. The items modify that value. xradar: 444, 421, 491, 447, 555, 514, 844, 624 aw: 153, 145, 169, 154, 191, 177, 210, 215 stealth: 340, 322, 375, 342, 425, 393, 466, 477 These values are pretty old, it's possible that they have changed. Also, you should probably be toggling xradar now instead of keeping it on constantly, especially while emped. I think the xradar delay is gone again.

I'm not the one that put in a 4 tile wide doorway at the entrance to the base.

Still down. It's no longer SSCE. Only Hyperspace is down.

Can't delay reset much longer, people are already bored. The issues can be fixed as they come up. A reset now is better than doing nothing, even if we don't get a developer to fix the issues.

I think it is time for the zone to be reset, but SpiderNL has been missing for a few months. The zone has been pretty dead lately, and it would be nice to be able to pull in the summer population with a zone reset. The zone also needs a new developer since Spid has been absent. It doesn't need someone to create more modules, just balance what's currently there. Some examples of things that need to be adjusted: Shark shields Turrets Radiating coils Ball goal rewards are a bit too high for the team scoring. It should be there to promote a flag game with jackpot increases, not as an alternative to playing the game.

The one brain uploaded has an outdated zones.txt. Here is a more recent one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hzazxo4ryi03d0p/SignedChatnut.jar It should work with at least Hyperspace and Hockey Zone.

The site isn't down, the domain expired. You can trick it into accessing the virtual host by editing your hosts file. Open %windir%/system32/drivers/etc/hosts and append 184.168.109.56 sshyperspace.net You will probably have to restart your browser. Take it out when the domain is fixed in case the IP changes in the future.

I don't think that it is a very good idea. It seems like a system that promotes flanking based flagging. I think that it will just lead to disorganized flagging. The current system is very simple and it is still too hard for most of the players to organize. They will join in any ship they feel like playing and play however they want. Introducing the need for constant flanking will just make things way worse. People complain about flanking enough as it is.

I've been using it for a while now and everything seems fine. Here is a download link for a compiled version if anybody else wants it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/73c8i0fe7s6b64b/multicont.zip Read the readme.txt.

Could be, I haven't tested anything. I would bet that the mutex is only to limit the processes though.
-
You could do it if you could find a way to delete the mutex that the client creates. I don't know any easy to way to delete it with code. It would be very easy to create a wrapper to delete it every time you launch it if you could find a way. A work-around to delete it is to use SysInternals Process Explorer. Click on Continuum.exe in top pane. Press Control + H and find the mutex in the bottom pane. You have to do this every time you start Continuum. The mutex is named "mtxsscont". edit: I did a little research to find a way to close a mutex created by another process. http://pastebin.com/2q2xGqKX Tested with visual studio 2010 and mingw. The argument is the path to your continuum.exe.

Fast user switching works, I believe. It is very inconvenient though. Virtual machines are the best option.

Looks like an internap router issue. If you are the one of the lucky few to see the zone as up, the zone is probably disconnected from the biller.

There are baseraces and a few other small events in ?go tetris, bombline, hyperball, and wherever racing is now. They aren't hosted very often anymore. Most of them believe that it kills the zone's population when they host them. Psythe was working a few events (domination, polarity) not too long ago, but they never get hosted. The zone needs more staff to be able to actually host events.

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

This isn't an argument. It's just contradiction!
