  3. cool, i dont know about what you are planning, but my general idea is to have it all ballanced while you can still have different specialties in one ship. oh, maybe if hyperspace at the end is *close* to what i suggested you could add graphics to make it look more realistic, like showing a ship showing the slots where u can see the items in place or something ^^ Or if its not close to what i suggested you could make a subarena or something.. ah wth i will just wait :

XP, Item, Gold system --------------------- Every ship has slots for items, for example: SLOT............DESC ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Storage.........Items which determine the combination of ENERGY and RECHARGE ................For example: 'Heavy Energy Deposit mkIII', what would have: RECHARGE 18%, MAX ENERGY 86% 1st Weapon......Items which determine the First Weapon (guns) ................For example: 'Light Multi Gun mkII', MULTIFIRE, lvl1 GUN, no BOUNCE 2nd Weapon......Items which determine the Second Weapon (bombs) ................For example: 'Medium Proximity Bomb mkI', PROX, lvl2 BOMB, 2 shrapnel, 1 THOR Engine..........Items which determine the combination of SPEED, THRUST, ROTATION(?). and # of ROCKETS ................For example: 'Medium Super Thruster', 30% SPEED, 70% THRUST, 60% ROTATION, 3 ROCKETS Warp............Items which determine the combination of TRANSWARP, HYPERSPACE, VORTEX, ANTIWARP, NOENERGYWARP, # of PORTALs ................For example: 'Barricuda Leviathan Warp Device', NOENERGYWARP, ANTIWARP, 1 PORTAL, HYPERSPACE ................NOENERGYWARP: removes speed, takes 2hour server side reload, allows a player to warp without having to have full energy (?nwarp, can be macro'd by player) ................VORTEX: The old sysem with ?1, ?2, ?c, etc (i forgot the old name so i will use this name in my suggestion) Radar...........Items which determine the combination of XRaDAR, STEALTH, CLOAK, RADARMAP width + height ................For example: 'Weasel Cloak Device', STEALTH, CLOAK, XRADAR(high energy cost), small RADARMAP ................I am almost sure that XRADAR energy cost can not be changed dynamicly, ................Maybe to send every client different settings about this, depending on the item, when it joins the arena? ................I know it is possible to change some radar minimap settings in the arena settings, ................But i have no idea if this is dynamic, but if it is, it would be possible to have some cool radar items Specials........Special items, cloak, stealth, repel, etc: 5 special slots or something ................For example: 'Genius Spawn Shield Device', which would give you shields(not repel) for about 5 secs when you spawn. ................For example: 'Virulence Melee Burst Device', 2 REPELS, 4 BURSTs ................""""""" Repel, Brick, Decoy ...................etcetera... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For every kill; won flag/ball game; events; (quests?); a ship gains XP (and gold, duh), at a certian ammount of XP the ship gains a lvl Every item requires an ammount of TECH Level, which is equal to the units level Also every items takes up weight, a ship has a certain ammount of weight For example warbirds have low WEIGHT while levis have alot of weight (Maybe also SPACE (same system as WEIGHT), which is low and some special or heavy items require space, so a player cant have an overpowered ship) And ofcourse... every item requires gold... Some items can be exclusive to certian ships (for example: high speed items for warbirds that require not alot of weight) While some items that are for all ships a certian ship can not have (for examle: warbirds can not have certain radars with cloak, stealth combo) This is just some stuff i made up in 30 mins, about some things i do not know if it is even possible. The system itself would not be so hard to code, but making up all the items would be kinda hard. And i have no clue if anyone would like this, I do know that, I do...

  6. im not talking about those settings... im talking about the stuff that changed way before.. (still talking about area ) Before ASSS population was high, sometimes up to 2 publics ^^ and a few weeks with weeks with ASSS population was a bit high... after that it droped to about 10 players for a long while then it died...
  7. actually it was only 60 ppl, 2 publics The pop was so high because the bots crashed so much... ppl are playing, the bot crashes, they wait till its back up in an other zone so basicly at the end they play longer and tell other ppl to come...
  8. actually the population droppen when you guys started to change to much, new sets, etc. Also the zone can be confusing for new players hence the ? commands , maybe using ASSS to create a dummy 'areabot' and then use it to simulate the old bot commands. Most players are used to bots (even in the 'newb' zone trenchwars, ppl learn how to use bots ), so they will understand it !@#$%^&*oon as they enter the zone for the first time. Maybe a system where they could be able to switch between bot and ?cmds would be nice. (no, im not saying this cuz i like the areabot more ) Maybe a RPG like system, honor system or something would make the pop grow. eg. start at 10 honor, points drop for team killing or other violations, points grow for winning flag games, killing, etc. need a specific ammount of honor for special weapons, arenas, etc. and a minimum honor of 8 to play in public, minimum of 1 in a newb arena. like this ppl would follow the rules more, and if a player violates to much, he cannot play in the public anymore. Ofcourse you can easily register a new nick, but then you would loose ur money (!@#$%^&*uming the give commands does not come back). and for that you can IP ban ^^ something like AAO Just some thought that came up :>
