Try kicking your comp. always worked for me but i usually kick it cause i have windows xp.. it fixes all the problems.. really.

It's when someone plays a custom sound. It comes up as Voice: (their name). And if your speakers are working, you should hear their custom wav sound.

Does your comp freeze afterwords? If it does, then it's the soundcard. Get a new one.

How would that stop people from "cheating" if you've played in the zone long enough, you can tell the approximate location of where the person is by just pressing alt, or whatever your map key is. So there really is no point to it.

It's probably just your internet connection. Once you get your dsl, it'll be all better.

I'd rather not have that. Although I don't play in zones that use shields, it'd make the game less interesting. Just think about it for a minute. If that was you with the sheilds, wouldn't you want no one to know about it, so that you could get a quick easy kill? But that's just my opinion.
