  1. What's wrong with the limit equation I had for infinity? By "negating all other possibilities" he is proving it's not a squirrel. What do you mean when you say prove a negative? What makes you think the Bible is true and not made up?
  2. You were supposed to prove God, not 1! have you never done any formal proofs? You're leaning on the edge of trolling at the level of ignorance you're displaying. I believe in the first three, although I question where you get the almighty all knowing, and eternal from?
  3. I WOULD USE DISCRETION
  4. I didn't really provide a proof, since I'm sure what you mean by prove infinity (what does it mean to prove a number, do you have a proof for 3?) However, I did provide a definition. Define what you mean by God.
  5. Yeah veg for the win lim x->0 |1/x| = infinity your turn!
  6. Why not just teach first order logic in high school? Geometry is less useful than other things they teach. Try to think of a non-academic context where you used it.

  8. there's an extra module they need to run, and small modifications to core modules (they just just load those ones from the new module)
  9. Well i've given up on server-side checks for anti-cheat. I've been working on it for a while so this is a few steps back, but it's necssary I think. The problem is it's either a lot of work to get right, or if you do it naively it uses too many resources. I still think it's doable, just a lot of work. Also talked to arnk/goldeye a little bit. they seem to think that replicating continuum is important so that goes along with the new direction. for you guys that means you get a playable version out quicker (the one on the svn is playable now! you can kill other discretion clients and everything), i'll have a 0.3 release out in 2 weeks (and a permanent server so you can come in and test stuff out). only concern is that cheating now is likely to be a problem. The module manager could be distributed as a binary and it could check module hashes and do continuum encypt / decypt, which would be about the level of security continuum offers. Although memory edits and stuff would still need to be prevented. Anyways I think it would be good if we get a server up and then an automatically updating client so that we can make incremental changes and updates quickly. Sass has agreed to sysop the zone and make it "fun" so if we get a constant population updating and debugging will be fun and easy. edit: ok the new anti-cheat plan is auditability. Clients can deterministically replay the actions of other clients. Thus if you suspect someone of cheating you can audit them by checking if their actions over the last say 20 seconds have been legal. Speccers could automatically check players in game, or after players die they could auto-check their killers. I suppose if you catch someone cheating then the server would need to check for real or at least log the violation hmm.. well it's a start
  10. along the same lines, does anyone else think relay for life is rediculous? how does walking in a circle for 24 hours help?

    C++

u should start with turing machines and work up from there, start with something simple like brainfuck and work up from there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfuck
  12. great idea
  13. link or it didn't happen
  14. you're right. However, pay inequality would disappear company B isn't necessarily sexist, just greedy, which is reasonable
  15. what about the sexist women-only company?
  16. Are these stories made up or do they reflect actual news stories? Anyone can make up stories.
  17. isn't the free market similar to survival of the fittest? Like if one company is sexist and hires men which it has to pay more it would lose business to the women-only company that can lower costs or not go bankrupt? Sexism would get taken care of by itself.
  18. If it were true, what incentive would any company have to hire a man. You can cut 20% off of payroll costs by hiring only women. I vote myth.

  20. more powerful how? This sounds exactly like asss' record module. If you want to see instant replay in action, come to Hockey Zone during the league finals (happening now, see http://rshl.org/ci/ for a schedule). Although there may be a few replays during the game, afterwards they always replay all the important plays.
  21. $50 more an ounce is like $6 more per eighth... which is nothing.
  22. From what I understood it's not that they're paying more taxes, it's that they're receiving less benefits.
  23. that's a bit deceptive, since its not that they're being punished for marrying, it's just that they no longer need the government support because they're combining their income and therefore can afford a little bit more (and therefore dont need all the government help). It only seems to happen with low income marriages, whereas your quote made it sound like it happened to everyone. By a similar measure, people are being "punished" when they stop collecting unemployment because they found a job.
  24. I don't believe you. Link?
