  3. Because you never know when one of these guys might pay attention. Today's Tip: Try to stay fresh. Burglar "Rob" lurked on the streets of Amsterdam. Make no mistake, it's a strenuous gig: all that skulking, sneaking, and burgling is very physical work. And it had its effect on Rob. In August 2003, he snuck into a nice old lady's house and stole some of her jewelry. But then all his theivery sapped him of his will to go on. The nice old lady's sofa beckoned, so cozy, so soft. Rob lay down and within minutes was off in a refreshing slumber. Refreshing that is, until he found himself being nudged awake by the cops; the nice old lady had found him snoozing on the sofa and made the call. Lying there on the sofa, the old woman's jewelry still in his hands, Rob didn't even bother to try to come up with an excuse for being in someone else's house with someone else's property. He just owned up to the theft and gave himself up. We hope he'll get some rest in jail. 7. Yup, which is why the DS has done a !@#$%^&* of a lot better than the PSP (ON THE GAME SIDE! i dont give a !@#$%^&* if the PSP can play movies and music, that's what i have a iPod and portable DVD player for... and i hate the stupid UMD format... but that's a story for another topic) actually, what makes it worse is that the movies are in HD. and have you seen the repotoire (sp?) of actors? you have the Lando (?not sure if its Lando.. but he was in Star Wars) guy from Star Wars, and the original Kane actor, and a bunch of other well known movie/tv actors.

  11. Because when smart criminals need tips, we're all in trouble. Today's Tip: When you decide to reembark on a life of crime, don't leave your ID at the scene. We don't know for sure, but we expect that "Joaquin" did not spend his free time in California's Folsom Prison in job-training courses. This might explain why, nine days after being released, Joaquin was lurking around homes in Los Angeles, searching for that certain special domicile to break into. Eventually Joaquin found one that appeared to be right, so, like an older, scruffier, more Y-chromosome-laden Goldilocks, he just wandered right in through the back door. Whereupon he found the homeowner, who just happened to be home on that day. This particular homeowner, incidentally, happened to be Rocky Delgadillo, City Attorney for Los Angeles. In the entire city of L.A., there may be worse houses to break into, but off the top of our heads we can't think of any. So there they are, the just-released inmate and the guy who represents the second largest city in the United States in court (although Joaquin, who is proving himself to be kind of an "always the last to know" sort of guy, is not up on this little fact). But Joaquin is not entirely without guile, and suggests to Delgadillo that he's part of a work crew at the address. But Delgadillo, being the homeowner, would probably know if he was expecting people to work at the house today, so he decides to call 911. Joaquin runs away, but leaves a backpack with identifying information. Soon enough, the LAPD hustles him off and holds him without bail. 16. The Commander of the Rootanian EBA would like to remind the dictator of Ailestan that while we might not be controlling our bacon smuggling, your intelligence will show that we have no troops or weapons built up to attack or even defend. See this quote made earlier today: "We are in peacetime my friends. Let us show all of the Ailestani peoples what we can do for fun" -Commander of the EBA
  17. Because stupid criminals might make smart readers. Today's Tip: It's bad form to look for a job at the same place you recently robbed. Ironically, the reason "Art" robbed that construction company in Stillwater, Oklahoma, seems to be that when he went there looking for a job in June 2003, no one was around. And perhaps Art figured, heck, there's no reason why he should have come all that way for nothing. Whatever Art's thought processes (or lack thereof), he came away from that construction site with a power tool and several goodies he lifted from a car on the site. Unbeknowst to Art, his adventures in thievery were recorded on a security camera. And so, when he came back to the construction company the next day, employees recognized him as the guy who'd helped himself to whatever wasn't pinned down the day before. The folks at the company kept him on the premises by interviewing him for a job; while he was talking about his qualifications, the cops showed up and hauled him away. Art didn't get a second interview. Apparently they don't give points for initiative. Or audacity. Source: Reuters --------------------- Entire passage lifted from Uncle John's Book of the Dumb
