  1. bleh... and he really is 'his' server and noone else has access? And what would happen if I just change the port... ports on the server are probably all blocked by default?
  2. We thought of a cool concept in SSdev chat... Basically, RTS-like game. With possibly an economy, different countries, some countries could be allied, etc. People on your team would be infantry, but your team could buy stuff like tanks, boats (i.e. transport ships to get across the sea), unit upgrades... Nukes could be involved at some point... with intercepting devices. People who get in could be !@#$%^&*igned to the country they actually live in (Any way to automate this using IP lookups?) There could be some base building going... The Red Alert zone showed that this kind of stuff would be doable. Your country could build defensive structures, for example. With ASSS I think it would be possible to push that concept relatively far. The most annoying limit will probably be the 8 ships limit. (Infantry, Tank, Transport, Destroyer or Battleship, Submarine, ...) I just put this together in 30 seconds with DCME using the Image to Map feature to show to the other people involved in the discussion we just had: World.lvl
  3. I really like the greening idea... But first we'll try to make events work in pub, which will take some coding. But the pub part could be that (collecting greenz) We'll call this project "EAT YOUR GREENS OR NO DESSERT"
  4. Attach the log file after saving and re-opening the map Can't seem to reproduce it... Do you create regions from the region tool's toolbar, or from the eLVL form?
  5. Really? *tests* What I see is the 'base' and 'no weapons' properties aren't saved properly... other than that, everything is fine Haven't tested it ingame though fixed... it actually saved a "rBAS" chunk for isBase, and "NWP" for No weapons, when it should be "rBSE" and "rNWP". But for loading, it was expecting the correct strings.
  6. Several people are currently unable to connect to SSCU 17th Parallel... Some of them can even connect to Trench Wars, but not 17th. Both zones are hosted on the exact same computer. 17th is on port 5900... Apparently this is the port for Virtual Network Computer as well, maybe they are somehow blocked? I don't really know who's in charge of these things... Well I could change 17th's port in server.ini, but the server would probably not like that much And the "people who cannot connect to 17th" include freakmonger's SSCC server... He offered to host my bots, but they can't connect at all. And several people have reported the same problem before... So I'm asking, would it be possible to change the port 17th Parallel runs on? I'm guessing someone on the council can hook me up with the right person or something... I'd ask MikeTheNose, but he didn't connect for a while. And for the record, one of the people who can't connect is Maynard, and he can connect to TW, and he just reformated his whole hard drive, and still can't connect... I even put him on VIP.txt. I really don't know if this is the right place for this... but anyway... I'm sure someone here can at least point me in the right direction (or perhaps suggest solutions to the problem)
  7. I don't get it...You can include a .hlp file WITHOUT a lvz???
  8. sure
  9. 11000 of the replies in your forum are from Trash talk And this is irrelevant to the topic anyway.
  10. I like the idea... hmmm Basically it's a fight for the control of the base... And newbs will stop asking "what are these green things?" We'll just answer GET 'EM TO WIN NOOB
  11. And the bots will be online and not laggy soon, thanks to freakmonger
  12. Course not... but that sure is weird
  13. Lol yeah, I think I talk too much when I drink... And I almost don't talk when I don't. Actually, with a few beers I'm just in a good mood and willing to talk... But if I start getting drunk, I'm getting annoying (well, when I sober up and think of all the things I said, I think I was annoying )
  14. hmm, put the 3.1.12, now that I think about it...
  15. That applies to you as well. You guys ignore rootbear, rootbear ignores you, everyone is HAPPY.
  16. 17th Parallel obeys to a single rule: When people are in 17th, people come to 17th. So just go there, and people will come. It works all the time By the way, does anyone know anyone who knows anyone who could host bots? Or if you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who could do that, it would work too. Better yet, if YOU can host some bots, that would be awesome Privileges include first choice of teammate in rumbles, first class seat in spec lounge, free virtual food, and some more inexisting stuff.
  17. try /*info on him... It will give you his current IP (or proxy IP if he's using one) and machine ID. And seriously, it sounds like you need some firewall or something did he hack your files directly or did he login as sysop? Open subgame.log and search for SYSOP LOGGED IN, see if he managed to do that somehow. Also search for *delfile If he hacked files by logging as sysop, then the security measures described above should work. If not, then you're in serious need of a firewall... If you're using XP, check your Windows Firewall settings. If he really 'hacked' your files, he can very well hack your whole computer. But what do you mean by hacking? files got wiped? some files, all of them..? You're sure it's not your little sister who deleted them? I'd really add a filter in my firewall to block his IP completly... if he comes back with a different IP, then he was probably using a proxy. If the IP is relatively close, then you can IP filter his whole ISP. But blocking his machineID should work too. If nothing works, there are some bots that can handle bans.
  18. img46.imageshack.us LOL wtf indeed Is someone hosting a zone on an imageshack server? edit: yeah... tracing to hyperspace definitly brings you to that server... weird. 11 70.87.253.14 te9-2.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.co 90.0 10 10 10 12 70.87.253.74 po31.dsr01.dllstx4.theplanet.com 90.0 10 10 10 13 67.19.255.150 gi1-0-2.car06.dllstx4.theplanet. 90.0 10 10 10 I'm also getting high packetloss from these 3 nodes. Might not be an issue cause I have 0% ploss on the last node though... By high packetloss I'm talking about 90+ :S
  19. God is watching over us. Don't worry.
  20. Hey Riistar, could you update the site with 3.1.10? I have ftp access and all, but I'm such a newb at these things...
  21. I see the grammatical incoherence... But no humor.
  22. Do /*kill 9999 on him Check your server.ini, make sure that: [Validation] CheckMod=1 CheckSMod=1 CheckSysop=1 That means someone cannot get powers unless he is on the moderate.txt, smod.txt, or sysop.txt. Also, check these 3 files, in case he managed to get your sysop password and add himself or something. Also in server.ini, in the password section, make sure you have passwords set to smod and sysop. Hmmm, now that just prevents him from getting unnatural powers "legally". But if you didn't see any 'smod logged in' in your server log or something like that, then he's definitly hacking... Are you using the latest subgame? I think that's what you need to force players to use .40 right? Someone else will probably confirm/correct me on this though. hmmm: *addmachine (id) = adds machineID# to idblock.txt (version 1.34.5 or higher) *removemachine (id) = removes id# from idblock.txt (version 1.34.5 or higher) *listmachine = lists all id# from idblock.txt (version 1.34.5 or higher) idblock.txt still works for blocking ID# Get his machineID and block him.. which would be the same as permanent *kill I guess There's alot of fun to have with hackers Oh, you have his IP... If you're behind a router, you could set a rule to block anything coming from that IP. If not, well you could probably do the same with a firewall... I don't know if the number beside the IP (36433885) is his mID...hmm
  23. heh... good idea. Though I don't think I'll do much this week... I'm trying to get some stuff finished on DCME so I can finally release all those fixed bugs. DCME is currently in a not-compilable state . And I also need to code something for 17th...
  24. Well, first, they are not used for profit. Secondly, pretty much ALL the games have a variety of mods, skins, tweaks, that include graphics/sounds/references to other games/movies, if it was a problem, we wouldn't be the first targetted I think. For example, there probably are Star Wars and Star Trek mods for every game that has anything to do with space.I'm not saying that this makes us 100% legal, I just don't really think it's an issue.
  25. I'll start by making it compile again... With (at least) the same features it had. Then we'll see
