  1. DBE donated me -20k for saying !@#$%^&* which isnt even a racist term what kind of a <...> runs a zone like that, do the mods get to keep the 20k they take off players? I guess in the 7 years i've played this <...> game nothing has changed. staff always on power trips, looking for an excuse to use their commands. anyway this kind of <...> doesn't get you players, the <...> should be happy i'm playing there its not like there arent plenty of other zones to play in and this one <...> because of all the hacking that goes on. every single day someone goes into the zone and realises their account has been <...> for some reason, which leads me to think the whole money system in the zone has got to be the worst idea ever
  2. i was a lil screaming brat in 1991
  3. yeah but i had to get extra files from someplace before it would work. liek an ancient unicode library for wine
  4. ahh.. those were the really good old days. BBS? I can't beleive he completely missed out on gopher. since he's from the good old days when men were men horses were horses
  5. the thing they had before the world wide web clicky
  6. I would post the image here, but its too freakin big. http://97k.eu/blog/comments.php?y=07&m...ry070312-023044
  7. ahh I remember ExQ. !@#$%^&* that guy was weird, and was another one of those typical hosts where you had to live under the constant threat of being shut down if a "better" zone come along that got more players
  8. omg I remember one particular day when the biller was down, i came in with the name of someone who had access to the bot, had it green everyone super's and started pwning everyone with a levi i cant believe people don't like that zone, it used to get a good few players and everything
  9. I remember tnet! you used to have a t1 at some point didn't you? and i remember you saying it was better than SDSL, and gemini dream not agreeing with you. I used to be a mod in one of the zones on that network. 1stLife? the guy who owned the zone had the same name, until he !@#$%^&*ed off like most people who ever played this game and that was the end of it. anyone know what happend to 1stStrike?
  10. All this ss stuff is making me feel nostalgic so i thought I'd make a thread about the ancient gopher protocol. is anyone here even old enough to remember? back when I was like 10 I remember going into one with IE4. that was in 1998 and most of them were already down then. I set up my own server not so long ago to keep the thing alive. but ya know the gophers still around today, got lots of goodies in them from the early days of the interweb
  11. !@#$%^&*. those ASSS. mine dont do it though, and when its not !@#$%^&*ing up my speeds are stable. i can always get 40k up, 300-320 down
  12. !@#$%^&*, i miss the oldskool cast. although they all hated me at the time. lol anyone remember viper13grl, or 16grl. I forget - jeez she was a crazy !@#$%^&*. Then she found this stupid bf who happend to own a zone and he netbanned me for 2 weeks cause i har!@#$%^&*ed her. but i got around that ban, like i did with all my other 15 year bans. jeez those were crazy ASSS, back in the good old days
  13. Is there one for linux, or does priitk's one run reliably in WINE? I remember that if the directory server went down for a short period the zones stop updating themselves to it. is that true? or just my imagination I could definitely run one, I got a static IP and all that good stuff. my server doesnt go down much. but sometimes the line kind of ASSS up. it comes and goes though, I could be on for a month without any glitch and then one day it will run like !@#$%^&*, constantly reconnecting and that. I havnt been following the development of directory servers the past few years hehe
  14. I'll have a look, but Ill tell you now I never liked the settings in that zone. Can setts from subgame run on ASSS? I got old stuff to bring back. !@#$%^&* would be nice since my server runs linux (and is a heap of !@#$%^&*)
  15. Back in the good old days finding a host for your zone was almost impossible. Why now that everybody has DSL or Cable nobody bothers hosting a server? Has the whole thing of running a server at home gone down the drain or is nobody interested in running one for SS? In Florida I had 2 5/2mbit FiOS connections. but that was a rented house, you'd think the people living in those areas are running servers everywhere, but no they are dumb consumers who go on myspace, pay their bills online and download legally licensed content from various DRM stores. I'll try running a few zones from the good old days on my server but I have a 3072/384 connection. Enough for a good few players though, I remember 10-15 players on a 128k upstream connection without too much lag so it should be possible. But srsly, everybody and their mom have a high speed connection, and an old computer yet hardly anyone bothers running any sort of server at all, !@#$%^&* it they don't even forward their ports for bittorrent. Is there even a good billing server I could hook up my zones to so I won't have to run my own? my server is a bit of a heap of !@#$%^&* (350MHz) but I guess it will do
  16. this is useful. I never really use windows anymore. The only reason i booted into windows (2000) is to clean the U3 off a USB flash drive.
  17. .. as the !@#$%^&*le says
  18. i remember polix. he was a big evil bully in my day
  19. Or The Abyss, or any of those other zones from the good old days. what happend to "a small warzone". they forced the .39 pre-release and then nobody played there anymore? after about 2 years of not playing i now have a comp with windoz installed in this house and decided to dl ss and see how many of my old homies are still playing. most of em moved on to bigger and better things i would run a ss zone but my server runs linux, ASSS is a pain in the ASSS to set up and my 384k of upload is nearly always saturated with other stuff. maybe some day i will bring back Terminal Force for the laugh, i think i still have thefiles somewhere
  20. My static IP costs 50 euros (once off). but i'm using verizon fios now. if i want a static IP on that its like $50 a month. but i won't be here long. 2mbit upload is nice
  21. bahh n/m stupid wiki was missing stuff
  22. he was also an alcoholic
  23. Yeah.. its absolutely rediculous how if some country wants to set up a nuclear power station they have to ask permission from america. The yanks will probably tell them it needs to be installed by a qualified US oil company (the oil will run out in a few years so they are trying to make sure the oil companies wont go bust after it runs out). If you are a America Approved® nation then you can build nukes all you like, getting approved probably has something to do with how many american multinationals you allow into your country to leech it of all its money and how many windows® licenses in the country. having the government comps run linux will probably get you modded down closer to the "rogue nation" list. Of course if you do manage to get America Approved® and you do have an army with some decent equipment you are expected to join in any silly wars america starts to do with fear, revenge, oil or copyright laws. Just see what happend the french, its not like america was occupied by the iraqi's who were throwing american babies into shredders and the french were just sitting there twiddling their thumbs.
  24. kewel
  25. quick question ^^ read the !@#$%^&*le
