Whether you do or don't support the group responsible for the greatest human tragety in recorded history is irrelavent. Respect for the dead and even for your friends in your home zone should preclude that sort display. Yes we have the freedom to express our ideas, no matter how outrageous. I fully support the 1st amendment, (note the group you support frequently killed countrymen for having differing opinions) but there is a time and a place for it. Subspace is not the place for racism and hate. If it is, the FAQ needs to be updated.

I sincerely hope that none of us ever have to live through the horror of the m!@#$%^&* extermination of our friends, family, and love ones. Those who turn the other way exercise the cowardice, backstabbing, blame, and greed that turned a nation of good people into a blood-thirsty regime. Those who display the symbols of hatred and avarice that led to the deaths of some 7 million innocent non-military are simply ignorant. Talk to a WWII vet while you still have a chance, and thank them. They are becoming fewer every year. I was at the WWII memorial dedication here in DC. You look into the eyes of these soldiers and tell me that it's not offensive. If you can, you are heartless, ignorant, blind, or all three.

I'm not about to start a new string on the stupidity of racism. Thanks for the support GL , I'm done complaining about this. If mods don't care if this goes on in forums, I guess there isn't a thing I can do to change it. But it is wrong, and the FAQ makes it clear that racism isn't tolerated.

I wonder if you will feel the same way about sept 11 50 years from now... Someone puts up the twin towers falling down on their avatar. Ha -*BAD WORD*-ing ha

Read the FAQ. Racism shouldn't be tolerated anywhere. Yes we have the freedom of speech in this country. However, this is a game (and a forum) with moderators to prevent certain things happening. Nobody with any sense and any family who fought in WWII should turn the other way. Never again...

As if one needs to be persuaded that nazi imagery is a bad idea for an avatar, not to mention wrong and evil in general.

I'm not kidding... I mean seriously. That's disgusting. No matter what your our vast views are on the various thing in and out of game, there is no place for that here or anywhere.

From a strictly terrier perspective, the large amount of open space in the center gives javs a huge advantage. Basically, changing directions without obstacles is nearly impossible, making it easy for a jav to overwealm. I'd add a few more obstacles in the center, and some asteroids around the center. I like the ball time, and I like the various routes to the bases- particularly the north corridor. -=pax=-

Slow and steady or fast and sweeping... Slow pub change caveats: 1. Small constant changes cause people to constantly re-adapt every day 2. Nobody is sure what it is building to 3. New players may not be able to get a sense of what 17th is with everything changing. Slow change advantages: 1. Each change can be evaluated on it's own. A broad overall change makes the individual changes difficult to evaluate. 2. Regs have a chance to get used to 17th changing without too much shock. 3. Ongoing change process lends itself to healthy discussion about the future of the zone (though I'm not sure if that holds true to SOME of us... heh) Sweeping overhaul caveats: 1. Regs have to completely relearn everything (unless we go back to old settings) 2. No advantage to being a zone vet 3. If it doesn't work out, harder to pinpoint what specifically went wrong because EVERYTHING changed. Sweeping overhaul advantages: 1. Re-invigorate an aging zone with excitement of completely new zone + settings 2. Chance to correct everything quickly without spending months slowly tweaking 3. (temporarily) evens the playing field between new players and vets There are others, but those are some of the main issues IMHO. Personally, I prefer a quick sweeping change that is done with a lot of thought and consideration. Then stick with it. -=pax=-

Exactly. The ships should have a more clear role. Occasionally someone does go up north and get all the flags for points. But it's really not fun to do it- it's a chore. The flags could be integrated into the main board, or the bases, for more consistant (and fun) use -=pax=-

I have to agree with Delic. There always seems to be 10 different people playing 10 different games (when we are lucky enough to HAVE 10 people). The north is never used by anyone - points are for buying bounce and super (both of which should go bye-bye), and shield greens have become so common that: pacmanx> Shields? everyone> yeah has become way too common. I think the old ships + a new map would be a change for the possitive. For the longest time it irked me that the jav was so overpowered compared to a terrier 1v1. The real problem is that team play isn't encouraged enough, due mostly to the nature of the game. This shouldn't BE 1v1, it should be team v team, where each ship has its part. It's gotten to the point where "teaming" has become a COMPLAINT. Teaming is the whole IDEA! >>>>>>>>IT'S A TEAM GAME<<<<<<<<< Duel in ?go duel. I'm behind Delic pACMANx

--snip-- Something else comes into play... E=MC2... Everything is made of matter, M (obviously)... Also, everthing is made of pure energy (E)... and when matter reaches the speed of light (C2) it becomes pure energy (E)... If any thing, like a camera, or a person reached the speed of light, how would we know...? --snip-- 'Fraid not. E=MC2 does NOT postulate that things become pure energy when it reaches the speed of light. Energy equals the m!@#$%^&* (which is M, NOT matter, but m!@#$%^&*) of an object multiplied by the speed of light squared. It is a relationship between matter and energy. Matter is not "made of energy". Matter has a potential energy, which may become kinetic energy. Energy is expressed on a quantum level through particle interaction (which, mercifully, I won't get into ). The general and special relativistic theories postulate that as matter approaches the speed of light it (matter) gets heavier and heavier. As matter goes really, really fast, it takes more and more energy to move it just a tiny bit faster. At near-light speed, that relationship becomes infinite i.e. all the energy in the universe could not move a spec of matter past (or even to the brink of) the speed of light. A thing like a "person or camera" cannot reach the speed of light. You may be able to curve spacetime, or wormhole right through it to reach a place as though you had gone there in linear space at the speed of light. Some of this crumbles and changes at a quantum level, but at distances greater than quantum scale, it holds true. -=pACMANx=-

Yeah - sorta... Light has a wierd property: No matter what your vantage point, it ALWAYS moves at 186,000 miles per second (mps). So if you are standing still and measure it- 186,000mps. If you are going towards it really fast - STILL 186,000mps. This is different from if you are... like in a car going 50, and a car is coming toward you at 50, if you hit it with a radar detector, it will measure 100mph. Not light. if you are going towards it, away from it, whatever, always the same speed. Wierd, eh? If a bullet could exceed the speed of light (nothing with m!@#$%^&* can) and you were to put me out of my misery with an m16, I would be dead before you pulled the trigger. This phenomenon is called quantum tunneling. M!@#$%^&*-less particles (light photons or gravitons) can get where they are going before they leave. The world of quantum mechanics is really really really (really) strange.

didn't account for negatives... or really... that anybody would actually do this. I'll redo the formula sometime, when this topic comes up again, so that it works for everyone better, if there's demand for it -=pACMANx=-

---snip--- So the more experianced and skilled you are the more newbie you are? ---snip--- um. no. The more experienced you are, the more complaining and bragging add to your n00b index. We expect a higher standard from vets. Skill helps counteract your complaining and bragging, so if you are very skilled, you can brag some without it hurting your score much. -=pACMANx=-

Of infinite m!@#$%^&* (like I said, infinitely heavy) but not occupying more space (in other words, not in more than one place... at once)- things don't get larger, just more massive. They still occupy the same amount space-time. This is tested in college particle physics labs daily. We can see a particle get more and more massive. Remember that we have conservation of m!@#$%^&* to think of, things aren't allowed to get "bigger". This is a discussion I never thought I'd have on 17th lol -=pACMANx=-

---snip--- Yeah relativity also states that an object that reaches the speed of light will occupy all points of the universe simultaneously. And we are traveling in the future now... oooh... think about it... or dont... just drink... NOW ---snip--- Um... no. Objects traveling at light speed do not occupy all points simultaneously. Ask a photon, or perhaps a gluon, or if you are feeling really adventurous, a graviton! While one cannot determine exactly where they ARE (-*BAD WORD*- you Heisenberg!) they only exist in one point of space-time. As for a drink... I just kegged five gallons of pale ale from the secondary fermenter. mmmmmmmmm hiccup . -=pACMANx=-
