  1. Logged in for a few games today and I found everything was skewed 90 degrees on me. I definately don't like this map.
  2. I like this new map (excet for the easy access tubes). It's had a side consiquence of nerfing what little power the spider had. Before a spider could hold the two rooms with the passage to the goal. Now the rooms are opened up and spider's prey can easily escape bursts. Spider is definately the weakest ship, but it always had a place on the team. Now with the wide open base access i find it's easier to guard bases/stop goals with a warbird or a lanc. Something needs to be done. As it is now I don't like playing the spider anymore.

  5. I haven't been playing much SS lately. Logged in today and noticed the north base has finally been demolished. Thx muchly, I never liked that base.

  7. I'm using the latest drivers for my NForce3/MSI board, the AC97 sound drivers are found with the nForce drivers. Realtek might have newer ones I suppose. I haven't checked. You sure it's not the DX9c drivers. I've had two programs stop working once I installed 9c (Atari's Temple of Elelemtnal Evil and PowerDVD-XP).

    Subspace should play fine on a 56k modem. -*BAD WORD*- when I bought the retail subspace I was using a 14.4 modem.
  9. Playing Subspace is kind is always kinda iffy for me with my yakey smack 56k modem. Some days I get spec'd for C2S or no data from server messages. Otherdays I run with 0 disconnects. The moral of this story is someone needs to buy me broadband.
  10. Lately the noise for guns has been disappearing. When I first log in all sounds will be playing. After a bit the ships guns will go silient. Other noises are still played. Sometimes changing ships reverts the gun sound back on otherwise I'll have to exit and reenter the zone. This error has kicked in with my new system using AC97 onboard sound. Also I installed the new DirectX 9c.
  11. I changed over to my onboard sound and haven't had any errors. I found I also got the lock/squeel/crash error in FarCry Demo and once in Medieval Total war. Since I swited to onboard sound I haven't gotten this error. Sucks I can't use my Audigy2. I guess I'll have to try installing it into every PCI slot till I get one that works or something. MasterDrake, could you elaborate more on how it could be my video card ? I'm running a Radeon 9500 Pro (using the current/non-beta catalysts). Do you think my 9500pro could be conflicting with my audigy2 ? I don't see how. They had different IRQs.
  12. Creative Augigy2 Sound card. Gonna try my onboard sound once I get a chance to D/L the drivers and work on my PC.
  13. Creative Augigy2 Gamer Sound card... really just an Audigy2 card. The package it came in had about 6 games included, so they call it a "Gamer" card. I am really thinking it is my sound card. I've been playing subspace with no sound. No crashes. Oh yea... using DX 9c
  14. I don't think it's a memory or heat related issue. I've ran prime95 torture test for 6 hours with no errors. My temps don't get anywhere near high enough for a reboot. When this happens after windows reboots I get a message asking if I want to send an error report to Microsoft. The error code it lists is Bccode: 9c (then it lists a bunch of other weird numbers). I'm thinking it's maybe my Augidy2 Gamer card. .. Anyone know what Bccode: 9c means ?
  15. I just upgraded from my old Athlon 1400 system with WinME to a new a64 system with WinXP. I'm having trouble with subspace/continuum, it crashs my system. What happens is I'll be playing for a bit then all of a sudden my the screen goes black, my speakers hiss, and my system reboots. This doesn't happen every time, but it does happen often. Any idea what's causing this ? I haven't experienced this type of crash with any other games.
  16. First thoughts on the Friday map after about an hour of playing. I don't like all the long maze stuff. It seems like parts of the map don't have a reason being there. Shorter ball time... i like it, makes a faster game. Also makes moving the ball to the goal more of a team effort. Flags in the ball rooms... Finally the north base is gone! If this zone is going to have turf type flags, they belong in the actual bases. Not some superfluous north base.
  17. Map: I liked it. glad the north base is gone. Ships Warbird - didn't notice a differance JAv - didnt notice a differance Spider - energy recharge is pathetic, guns are weak, burst is too slow, several times i started at 900 energy, that's way to low. Levi - stealth is cool for a slow defenseless ship Terrier - didn't notice a differance Weasel - too much like a jav. The rockets were useless, they needed a longer burn to be usefull Lancaster - didn't notice a differance Shark - Didn't notice a differance I'm probally biased as since i mostly drive the spider. This friday setting for the spider was horrible. It's best weapon was gimped (burst) and the single shot gun was just sad.
  18. I'm not talking about the team evening bot. But a bot that would switch everyone if one team wins 5-0 over and over and over. Winning 5-0 gets old after a while, and losing 0-5 cause half your team are idiots makes me quit playing.
  19. My thoughts on friday's map. (posted 4days late). First the reason I like 17p is for the fast paced soccer/hockey game. For me having a north base doesn't make sense it just takes away from the game. If you want a north base to fight over, go play trench war. Some specific things i didn't like about the north base: The passages were too narrow. It way too easy to defend with lanc's or bounce bullets. What i liked 3 enterances. The tiny weasel holes for sneaking in.
  20. I've found that often one freq just dominates the other for game after game. Usually this is because one freq has too many players dueling or turreting, rather than playing soccer. Is there a way for a bot to look for shutout teams ? I'd figure maybe after one freq wins 5-0 three times in a row freqs get randomized. Is this possible, or even a good idea ?

  23. With the spider (#3) there is required greening, once you use up your bursts. This is covered by team greens when you have a large team. When playing with a small team or your bounty hits 100 you have to go hunt for bursts to be effective with the spider.
  24. Turning off optional GFX seemed to help, but i am still getting occational specs with a C2S error.
  25. Thanks for the reply. Client to server = C2S that makes sense! I'll try those suggestions, why is it that only 17th Parallel gives me this specific error ? -jumbone
