i think im going to look into buying a new computer. If i just wanted something that would run continuum really efficiently without problems and for school work, what kind of comp should i get and about how much would it cost. (something within range of 300-800)

if it's my comp, would a simple reformat and maybe reinstalling Windows help it? how do I do a speed check? and if my isp is fk'd then what to i go and tell them. (also my folders/browsers open slow, so may be comp)

i think i have what you mentioned speedstream box plugs into dsl router, router plugs into comp i tried doing speedstream box plug into comp, and nothing changed, my ping still was jumping from to 300+ what should i do or what else should i try? i'll do anything to fix this problem , i need to get my lag fixed for soon for dsbleague

anybody have a solution to solving my ?ping problem? I'll enter game and usually i'll have like 60-100 ms, 5 s later I have 500+ ms ?ping. If i look at my Zone Selection screen and look at the ping, it is constantly changing, like it'll go 70, , 70, 90, 500, ect. It's crazy then it'll jump back down for maybe 2 mins and go back up and stay there for a while and then jump back down. Also folders open up pretty slow, same with internet browser. I have a wireless dsl router, but don't think thats why because I've had this for the past like almost 3 years, and never had problems with it except maybe random D/C's. I've had the same computer/connection for all of my SS career so this is weird. This has been going on since early June, one day my comp was perfect at my regular constant 50 ms then the next day my comp was !@#$%^&*. I thought it was just another "phase" that my connection or computer was going through but I guess not . I haven't changed anything to my computer/connection since I started playing SS except my parents upgraded our DSL a couple notches to make our computer go faster. Suggestions?
