Why can't we lower the lvls of our weapons, i.e. switch to level one once we have level two? There would obviously be benefits to this, like red bombs are deadlier at close range. Oh, and not to mention trickery, like fooling someone that you only have level 1s when you're a neg and then switching to level 3s. Can it be done? VOICE CHAT NOW. thx hook-ups

Hallu, since you don't like to tell players about setting changes and refuse to answer questions in game I thought I would bring up the topic here so others could contribute...why is it that now when the population is low that all of the greens are concentrated in one small area? Where was the news.txt file to let players know of this change? Where is the forum post asking the players if they would want this type of change? This is an open thread to discuss thoughts about the 1998 SVS settings. A couple of days isn't long enough to really see the consequences of having them in, but it's enough to get a feeling about them. When I first took over the zone, the first thing I did was go back to these SVS settings, and work from there. I am now tempted to do something similar and go back to the settings (including bot settings) I had when I left (in 2003-4) and go from there again (which were very close to SVS settings). Hello there friends! The 17th RSHL Season is coming to an end. The only games left to be played are the FINALS! A best of 5 series between the top 2 teams in the league. Congratulations to both teams on making it to the RSHL finals. Breakaway, the longest tenured team in the league, takes on Interference. Interference has been around since season 9 or 10. They competed in the NRSHLT for a spot in the RSHL, but were defeated by what would become one of the most dominant franchises in RSHL history, Money Inc. Chaos Zone is bringing back the VIE days with *real* CD SVS settings this weekend. The original, overpowered, cloaking shark, 30 bty start, and more! It's a journey in the time machine back to 1998 when negs were NEGS!!! Well actually, not quite, but much more neg-like. Lots of players anticipating this -- should be fun! Well, tbh, not even a clue how they got in. The password for SSGN (ssgn.net domain and subdomains, and no that is not the actual username) is used NOWHERE else, and had numbers, chars, and special chars. Made the pass 10x harder now, and a lot longer. But brute force was on, so I dunno how they got in yet. Root reported no logins, server reported no brute force attempts, etc. But it seemed to be a bot moving through the ftp editing all index.* and login.*/auth.* type files. How do you get someone, who is used to cutting edge - or at least recent - gaming technology, to like Subspace. To get someone to go have a look, not to mention to play, come back, and repeat, is an immense achievement, very difficult. Fellow Aussie fenrix got four mates to join once, was seen out east near the safes showing them all the ropes (telling them stuff through something like Teamspeak, I think). Of these, Soothsayer II came back for one or two more visits, then he disappeared. Various folks here have been known to get their kids online to have a play. The ssc player database (biller) has been offline since its normal restart for the biweekly score reset. No information on the cause yet, but e-mails and messages have been sent. Will keep you updated.

This is a topic noone has brought up for years now. So here I am bringing it up again. Talking to some new players the other day (1-2yrs), and they honestly had NO clue what SubSpace was. They thought it was just the server, and the game was called Continuum not SubSpace. One of them knew it had been a client, but didn't know why we still called the game SubSpace. He said most people he plays with call it Continuum. So it got me thinking... are we confusing our new players by telling them to download a game called Continuum, and then continuing to call everything SubSpace.
