Complex League

Can we get another one started by chance and do a little more promotion?

I'd like to get on a squad or start one.

 

Perhaps do something in this fashion:

 

Pre-season

Season Play (7 matches)

Playoffs (seeding)

 

I'm quite good at organizing leagues (even though I suck at 17th)

 

I think more elaborate rules would be good too. I mean, try to get all the CPs in less than 30 minutes is a bit unstructured, something like 2 20 minute halfs, because a team could capture all CPs in 5 minutes.

 

Points could be based off:

--- CPs captured

--- A set number of points for capturing ALL CPs (ex: capture all CPs, 2,000 points, restart CPs)

--- Kills

All the more reason to take your time on the league.

 

If you look at the last topic, it seems like the league was rushed.

30 minute limit

- Most # CP's captured wins.

 

To promote the league I would recruit squads out of other zones. Tell them you need skill to play so don't bother signing up unless the squad is skilled. Set up a practice league arena for them and put their squad logos on the map using LVZ. Encourage scrimmaging somehow...

That KOTH bot / league thing would take me a while, so I don't see us rushing into this specific league

I'm noticing newbs coming in to see the gigantic map and empty pub, and saying "Wow this is gay", then they always leave.

That's ok. Enough time to write up rules, get proper scheduling, set up refs and everything

I have thought about that but it was even difficult for teams to capture all the CPs in 30 minutes and two 30 minute rounds would have just been too time consuming. I'd like to see your team capture it all in 5 minutes. =)

I wanted to articulate in getting KOTH, not getting as many CPs as you can or best ratio (we have SBL for that).

What's wrong with two 20 minute halves? Just about EVERY type of compe!@#$%^&*ive game in the world incorporates: periods, quarters, halves WHATEVER. And yes, a far superior team could easily pwn a 5-10 minute victory, wow, so much fun. I pegged in my schedule to get slammed in 5 minutes. Screw that.

 

You have to think of the statistics you can also incorporate into the game with halves and more structured scoring. Such as, CPs captured, times all CPs captured and held for a minute. CP (flag) points.

In your case it's either: Win (get all CPS) or Lose, game over.

 

You've obviously never played anything compe!@#$%^&*ive in your life. Make the KOTH game a little more exciting for people.

 

Oh, and sorry about the "thrown together in a week or two" remark. I meant to say ONE month was about the time you gave people to organize and begin. Congrats on all the success, everyone is just so excited to play.

I've already explained that it is difficult to even get one KOTH in 30 minutes. Don't think you read the rules carefully but the original rules is first to KOTH wins or most points (prized every minute with every CP captured).

I don't expect a complex league anytime soon due to bot issues and possible map changes/setting changes.
