hi i was wondering why i can run continuum in windows "safe mode" as 1280x720, buts its not sensible playing in safe mode all the time and i want to play in normal mode. I can only run it in 1024x768 (thats in normal mode) but I want to run it in 1280x720 instead for better gameplay, any ideas?

p.s my graphics card is a Radeon 9600 series

thanks blum.gif :( :o B)

also ive tried checking the "Show all default resolutions" checkbox in the advanced options., i get the list OK but then i switch to the 1284 x 1024 x 8 res but it has no effect, it still looks like its in 800 x 600 res.

remember if i tried this in windows "safe mode" it would work but i want to play in normal mode :(

Two possibilities spring to mind:

1) Your drivers are broken. Try updating them. (Video card & monitor drivers) Try older drivers as well.

2) The res you want is illegal. Safe mode might allow it only because it does not have the correct drivers loaded. It might actually be damaging your monitor.

Did you try older ones?

It might just be that it is an illegal resolution.

Or perhaps the drivers are borken very deeply so an update doesn't easily fix them. Graphics drivers are a complex system, unfortunately...

HAHAHA, yeah go to the dropdown for 'resolution' and set it there before you enter every zone. My computer has a bug in my main profile that oddly defaults it from 1920x1200 to 1280x1024. I don't know why it does it, the profile and everything is set up properly... but if I play at the proper res and then exit, when I go to that resolution tab it has defaulted it back. If I don't set it every time I play, I get screwy res.

I just change it every time and it works properly in-game.

If it isn't that, then try the following:

Display Properties>settings>advanced>monitor>driver>update driver

choose 'No', then i'instal from a list or specific location', then 'don't search, choose your own'. Finally, uncheck the 'show compatible hardware' box. You should see some additional monitors on the right, try one of the ones with the same res that you want.
