jhe Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Hey all! New guy, old in the game.I've been harboured in Extreme Games for a while and only now begun to think that I could contribute something larger than just create squads, talk smack and being afk.I have mentioned this exact same suggestion earlier on ForumHQ and got a reply from 50% packetloss that, although it indeed answered my original question, brought forward a few more...I've replied to the thread, but it seems a bit slow/dead over at ForumHQ so I figured I'll give this a shot. The original thread started something like this (shortened): I'd like to suggest a couple of additions to the % commands like these to extend the usability of % commands in-game: %anti (returns the word "Anti" or "Antiwarp" if you got it)%x (returns the word "X" or "X-radar") That way you could make a macro something along the lines of:'%tickname is in FR! [%coord] [%area] {%anti} {%x} If I had antiwarp and x-radar, this would result in:Tricon is in FR! [A1] [UpperLeft Corner] {Antiwarp} {X-radar} I got a reply from 50% packetloss: Yah, the in-game macros should be expanded upon, but i dont think that prittk comes on here to take suggestions very often. Im not sure to what extent he is still developing the game, i believe he works on it from time to time. Mostly I would consider it a complete game and maybe expect a few new releases in the coming years. And now I'm down to these questions: It's unfortunate that development is halted on the sole reason that the developer in charge isn't investing time into trying to improve the client.Has Priitk got any co-workers developing Continuum alongside with him? Or is he the only current developer of Continuum today? Are there people around that tries to contribute to Continuum any more? Are the %-commands related only to the client or could this also be affected someway on the server-side?
»SOS Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Yeah, it's pretty hopeless to get these implemented into Continuum. (and yeah, they're client-side and while a bit could be done on the server, PriitK is the only server programmer also, so... heh) PriitK is the only programmer and he is more or less dead. On ther other hand, I am working on a recreation of this game, but that's going slow due to school, so don't hold up your hopes for anything anytime soon.
jhe Posted October 23, 2005 Author Report Posted October 23, 2005 Thanks for the reply, SOS. I appreciate it. Don't worry, I know how much time school and other stuff can take away from a project. I've only just now started a civil engineer program that'll last another 4½ years, and I'm already falling behind (!@#$%^&* all these parties!).I'm reading software engineering so I most likely will be able to contribute in the future, if your plans follow through as you wish. You could keep me in mind on your developers list, cause I'm aiming to become one after my years at college. I'm only quite proficient in php-language, but at least I have knowledge of a very programming-like environment.
Paine Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 PriitK is the only server programmer also Grelminar?
»SOS Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 He dabbles with his own useless server software that'll never be used by anyone.
