Methias Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 I know im probably just going to bother everyone who reads this, but i seem to be having no luck making my zone. I follow all the intructions and everything, and it still doesnt work. It would be awesome if someone could make one for me. Im not expecting someone to do it for free, i will pay, but currently i have no way of getting money to anyone through the net, so if there is anything material you would want as pay, like software, or music, or anything like that, i could do that. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. ~~~Methias
»Maverick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Methias, it is quite simple to make your own zone once you know how and you got the right tools (read: software) to do it. Instead of offering money for someone to do it for you, you should let us know what problems you are having so we can help you better. (and it will be free)
Methias Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 Methias, it is quite simple to make your own zone once you know how and you got the right tools (read: software) to do it. (and it will be free) Well, i dont know if its up to date or anything, but that server thing that you download from that one shanky guys website is what ive been trying out. Ive followed all of the directions, and the server works, but then on continuum/subspace, i see my zone, but it just wont connect. Just wont connect at all.
»Maverick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Is the zone green on your zone list and what error message does it give you when you try to connect to your zone?
Methias Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 Well when i add it its green, but then i click play, and sits in the loading position, then it stops and says it cant connect to the server. It sees it though. Its on the zone list, i just cant connect to it.
»Maverick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Check your server console window for any errors that are displayed when you try to connect. If you see any, report them here. Make sure any firewall on your network isn't blocking connection to your server / biller. When the server is on your own computer you can try connecting to 127.0.0.1, however people from outside still can't connect to your server then.
Methias Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 Check your server console window for any errors that are displayed when you try to connect. If you see any, report them here. Nothing is wrong. I open my subgame and my subbill, and they both communicate, no errors. And like i said before, it all works except for when i try to connect to it inside of continuum/subspace.
»Maverick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 It must be a firewall that is blocking the connection between your server and your client. Is the server on your own computer or another? What IP do you use to connect to your server? Is there a firewall on your router?

What IP do you use to connect to your server? Is there a firewall on your router? It on my own computer. But im using wiresless internet, maybe thats it. Im running Windows XP so i think windows firewall is up. Just the one windows comes with. Maybe i should disable it for a second?
»Maverick Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 You can try that. However I would recommend you to connect to your server using the IP 127.0.0.1 for now. See if that works apart from disabling your firewall for the time being.

Methias Posted October 19, 2005 Author Report Posted October 19, 2005 I meant you should try to connect to your server using 127.0.0.1. Thus, when you add a custom zone to your zone list, use the IP 127.0.0.1.Already tried turning off your firewall?Okay now it works. But it says that my name is not accepted in there. OKay scratch my last post. Where do i login as the sysop?
»Maverick Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Make sure your name is on sysop.txt and: [Validation] CheckMod=0 CheckSMod=0 CheckSysop=0 must all be 1. Then once you are logged into your zone type '*SysopP!@#$%^&*word' where SysopP!@#$%^&*word is the password from your server.ini: [password] section, SysopP!@#$%^&*word key.Try *log to see you are logged into sysop mode.
Samapico Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 MMav's the man You can also include your sysop password in your profile password... just set your password to:yournormalp!@#$%^&*word*sysopp!@#$%^&*word
»D1st0rt Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Just for future reference, I've never heard of anyone being able to log in to a zone on their computer without making a custom 127.0.0.1
»Maverick Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 You can also log into the zone by using the IP from your router (your internet IP that is). However, firewalls may be in the way.
Kameloh Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 That's what we call 192.168.1.xxx where xxx is your [dynamically] !@#$%^&*igned LAN address And if you have a router (like linksys), check this topic: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=542 Should help in the routing configuration area
»SOS Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Just for future reference, I've never heard of anyone being able to log in to a zone on their computer without making a custom 127.0.0.1 Except me Heh, as for the details, it's due to the fact that most routers do not "mirror back" outgoing connections to the external IP. However, if you do not use a router and your own computer holds your external IP, it should work just fine.
Methias Posted October 21, 2005 Author Report Posted October 21, 2005 Okay. Now can you guys help me on how i get other people to connect to my zone? Because 127.0.0.7 is what im using to connect, but all computers use that, so i cant just say "Use 127.0.0.7" do i give them my IP or what? What do i tell them to add in the add custom zone part? And i also need help on changing the stats on the ships. So like i could have 2000 energy or somethin starting out, you know like other zones do? I also need help on how to change the safe zone timer, and how to get all the fancy messages you get when you press f1

Methias Posted October 21, 2005 Author Report Posted October 21, 2005 Okay. How do i change the stats and everything? Like what type the bullets are, my energy, etc. The time in the safety zone etc. And how do i get a ?buy thingie?
Kameloh Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 type in ?getsettings in your chat (when you're logged in as sysop). edit it from there and press F10 to save.
»Maverick Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Better use Esc + C because its more easier . You can also (if you are sysop) do *getfile server.cfg and then edit server.cfg which is located in your Continuum directory. Use http://wiki.minegoboom.com/index.php/Complete_Settings as reference for all the possible settings.
»SOS Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 You don't need to give anyone your IP, they can just get your zone from the zone list.
