I had the jav with more thrust and overall speed, but it didn't match the sub arenas, so Mike changed it to the slower speed settings.

thats what the forum was about...

:!: GIVE THE JAV MORE SPEED!!!!!!!!!!! :!:

NO I HAVE A BETTER IDEA, GIVE IT SUPERRRRRR

More thrust = more newbie friendly ship, because it's easier to dodge with.

more speed w/ less thrust = difficult to use because you can't adjust your trajectory very quickly.

so more speed =good only with more thrust too

i know jav is fighter type ship but dont make it impossible to kill

of course theres those unlucky times of line bombs,2 3 man turrets,

me

j/k j/k im not that good....or am i?

newbies suck no matter what ship they're in...that's why they're called newbies

either design ships for players that actually know what's going on or have no qualms about designing ships just to get population (ie - designing ships for newbies)

Yeah, what's the point in being a newbie if you can't learn http://www.hitemup.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

SSI RDF>Robotech! to give its full name.

Like DSB, it has two "races" with their own respective group of ships. Furthermore it uses a pointbased system (standard MERV plug) to restrict which ships you can fly. Newbie ships aren't very powerful but they are forgiving (low energy cost weapons and faster recharge), while vets get more complex ships (as in ones with cloak/stealth options, specials etc.) with greatly increased firepower and speed at the cost of charge rate and energy cost. It balances out.

I don't think we should copy the model for 17th but it would be a good way to balance "newbie" ships against "vet" ships.

yes I'm familiar with the zone, I was confused because the newbie ships do not have better recharge or low energy cost weapons...

they are relatively balanced, though, but when you come upon a good player in the highest ranked ship it can be difficult

I played it for a few weeks, it got too boring for me...I don't like the idea of building up as they do it, maybe more of an SVS related could do better.

I suggest making it so no ship has thrust or speed... thusly killing any ability for a newb to do anything... conversly, it also prevents anyone from doing anything else... which would cause total peace and Osabrah-NeverBeenLaid-Ehn would be mad!

Btw... Lancasters are cool... they fire bombs and bullets when you press CTRL or TAB keys! (unless you re-routed the auxilary power to other keys, mofo)
