Bacchus Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 ok, about the nazi thing...i won't explain it to you. but since you need a draft, i was refering to you because of your: And yet another reason to close off the northern border... and the ethnic bashing more or less present in your posts.2)they do not surrender at the firat sign of trouble. They respected an international agreement not to participate in an illegal war. whereas US took unilateral action. Wether or not it was a good thing should be discussed elsewhere.3)lol, i'm not american but I know for a fact that your borders aren't "open" for everyone. And i didn't say: americans are xenophobic. I said YOU are xenophobic, or so did you sound in your post about french culture.I'm working with the public a lot. Americans and French alike are border paranoid. They both lack basic respect and/or politness. But usually, they're quite ok and reasonable.4) yea. ok. no need to brag about that. it's a known fact. And Euro isn't failing.4a)ok4b)whatever5)As you pointed out, i'm hailing from french canada (Québec that is)...I didn't know that NATFA was abbreviate of ALENA...i suppose you haven't heard of that one, eh? son, there's more than one language on this planet...6)yea, you'd learn some french.7)I'd agree with that if it wasn't naive. History have shown that complete liberalism doesn't work. ... Yea, i heard about Menendez, Simpson and all... that's precisely to avoid such incident that guns should be regulated. My bottom line is this: Am I willing to balance my life and, if fate allows, that of my family on the responsible use of guns or would i feel much more secure if there was no guns whatsoever? i say no guns.Off course, we could be butchered by a madman with a knife or such. But come to think of it, i prefer defending myself from a knife than from a gun.
Silk Posted October 14, 2003 Author Report Posted October 14, 2003 And Silk America got it's culture from every country that's ever settled there. Exactly my point!
madhaha Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Godwin's Law has been invoked. Thread closing time before this random flaming gets out of hand. Its amazing how quickly intelligent debate is subverted...
Bacchus Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 mmh, although me and MM are having an argument, plz note that we're holding on tracks, even minimally
Bacchus Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 weel, it's still worth more than your on posts, no?
MonteZuma Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Because most people in this day and age are stupid fearful -*BAD WORD*-ers, that's what happens when you let others do for you what you've forgotten to do for yourselves. Do what? Take matters into your own hands? Protect yourself and think. Nintey percent of the time it's just fear and intimidation that's used to rob a bank or someone on the street if the "weapon" is concealed. If someone's going to rob a bank, and doesn't show you the gun, just makes a bulge in their jacket, chances are good that it might just be their finger. If you're going to rob a bank with a real weapon you're gonna flash it because you know you can get away with it.WTF? Why would you flash a weapon thats probably been used in other holdups in front of all the security cameras in a bank. Screw that. And if your a bank teller, earning whatever measly income a bank teller makes, why the -*BAD WORD*- would you take a chance wondering whether that bulge is a gun, a finger, a cu-*BAD WORD*-ber or a hard-on. Just give over the frickin cash (after all - its not the tellers money) - and then take 6 months paid stress leave - on a beach - in a warm climate - with -*BAD WORD*-tails and stuff.
madhaha Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Indeed, its not like banks are uninsured or anything.
MillenniumMan Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Gee, all this time I thought you locked the topic. Ok smart!@#$%^&*, point out the person in this typical security camera image taken from your typical commercial security camera. Then identify features. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/josephgrant/sec1-101603.jpg The most common problem with security cameras is that when they record, they record to used video tapes over and over again, which causes lossy quality, not to mention the fact that alot of security cameras still run at NTSC in this country which is rather low res. So if thise were a bank, they could still hold it up while brandishing the same gun which looks like thousands of other guns on the planet minus the serial number which you couldn't see anyways without looking really close *1-2 feet away*, they could still use it over and over again until some good samaritan came by and capped them or they had a car accident and -*BAD WORD*-ed themselves over. BTW, this was taken at the Harford Community College student center in case anyone cared. I've been going over some instances where the citizenty had been more well armed than the cops and had been able to help. The Texas A&M clocktower shooter incident, where the ex-marine with the brain tumor had started wasting people left and right. The cops couldn't do anything because their weapons couldn't reach. The citizenry had to come out with their hunting rifles to stop this one guy who had the upper hand from his position on the tower. The North Hollywood bank robbery incident. Yet again the cops were outgunned. A nearby gun store owner started handing out what are now considered illegal semi-auto weapons in kali to the cops and any citizen who was willing to take up arms and grease these -*BAD WORD*-s.BTW, the Kali gov forced the same store out of business soon there after with their stupid -*BAD WORD*- laws. So much for a win for the good guys huh?The -*BAD WORD*-ing cops couldn't even cap them from 50 feet away. Even when there wasn't suppressive fire from the robbers, they still couldn't do the job they were "trained" for. And for a good laugh, one of the surviving shooters sued the city of Los Angeles for 1.5 mil for greivous injury AND WON! Thank you ACLU! Bonnie and Clyde Parker and friends made a long trail of holdups across the midwest, using thompson machine guns a colt .45 and a newly released Colt 1911-A *nice new toy back then* But it wasn't completley the BI's *now FBI* doing in bringing them down. An ambush had been set up by local law enforcement, the BI and several local farmers armed with shotguns that could split a man in half and deer rifles in Sailes, Louisiana on May 23, 1934. Ironicaly the first thing they were charged with was Grand Theft Auto under the National Automobile Theft Act, which made it a crime to steal a car and transport it across state lines *stolen in Illinois and driven through texas, oklahoma and finaly michigan where it was abandoned*, which is what got the feds initial attention on them and not the bank holdups.
madhaha Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 That still doesn't make a case for gun ownership. Just a case that the police should be better armed and/or call in the military for these extreme cases.
MillenniumMan Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 That still doesn't make a case for gun ownership. Just a case that the police should be better armed and/or call in the military for these extreme cases. I can imagine the scenario now This is the Big City PD! *BANG* (wanted level **) -Punk stands at the red light waiting for a fast ride- He took mah car! *squish squish squish* (wanted level ***) -chopper flies in- PREPARE TO DIE! you cant say that it's against regulations! I HAVE THE BULLHORN! -punk gets out, flips around on the mouse wheel and selects a bazooka-*VAWOOSH* *KABOOM!*(wanted level ****)-gets back in the car-"She's on fire... with the heat of the beat beneath her feet... she's on fire... and the name of the game is to fuel her flAA-AAme... She's on fire fire fire fiiire...."-sees swat ahead with shotguns and uzi 9mm-*squish squish CRASH*(wanted level *****) -swipes a new car-Oh my gawd, you one crazy -*BAD WORD*-!"Come back to mah block and I'll break yall balls, 'cause I'ma gangsta dawg! Giiiiiving it all that we goooooot!" -sees a roadblock with half a dozen black unmarked FBI cars ahead--slams the brakes, hits enter gets out of the car, flips around on the mouse wheel and selects a molitov -*BAD WORD*-tail to toss at the FBI guys.- You've done made Roscoe mad boy! *BANG BANG* Eerrrrase him... make him disappear! *BANG*-gets back in the car and speeds off-(wanted level ******) -all of a sudden two rhino tanks appear out of nowhere and chase the suspects car down, but they're too slow to catch up.- *PING PING PING PING PING*-car starts to get riddled with bullets from above by two choppers, so suspect heads to the park and ride before getting perforated--suddenly the car catches fire, suspect bails out in time to get slightly singed.--suspect sees a change of clothes in a nearby car and takes them. all he has to do now is drive out through the alley entrance hidden from the choppers view-(wanted level ) Yeah sure, I can see the army being called in for one guy over an inner city criminal matter. Now if you don't mind, I have to head to my GFs house. She's gonna unwrap her birthday present
madhaha Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Why not? You send in the special forces (the SAS in our case) for "terrorists" and extremist groups like the IRA. They drove tanks to Heathrow when there was a suspected surface to air missile threat. How would this be any different?
Yupa Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Why not? You send in the special forces (the SAS in our case) for "terrorists" and extremist groups like the IRA. They drove tanks to Heathrow when there was a suspected surface to air missile threat. How would this be any different? the difference is England should just let -*BAD WORD*-ing Ireland alone
madhaha Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Sure only the IRA didn't leave its nail bombs in Ireland... You should know what. And what does this have to do with the surface to air missile threat?
MillenniumMan Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 Why not? You send in the special forces (the SAS in our case) for "terrorists" and extremist groups like the IRA. They drove tanks to Heathrow when there was a suspected surface to air missile threat. How would this be any different? I don't do that, our corrupted government does that. If it were up to me I'd send in hired guns, real good bounty hunters who do this thing for a living but don't blindly follow orders. You know, I've been meaning to ask. What is it you brits do for the 4th of July?
madhaha Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 We party down in Ibiza... How can you trust people who are paid to kill?
MillenniumMan Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 We party down in Ibiza... How can you trust people who are paid to kill? They know what side their bread is buttered on. Keep the civilian population safe while wasting the bad guys and you get your money. Deduct a percentage from the final bounty for each noncom killed. If they shoot or attack you then wax 'em! Besides, paid bounty hunters (at least the guys I know) keep meticulous records for their tax records at the end of the year.
madhaha Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 You live in a dream world MM, where the world is full of thugs for you to use as target practise and where you can always count on passers-by to save to day with gunfire and a witty remark. Where bounty hunters are a necessary reality, where the police are window dressing and its Kill or Be Killed . Maybe to you thats all there is but in the real world there are better solutions.
Darkflare Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 offtopic: madhaha you got the 69th reply on this thread
Darkflare Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 offtopic: it kinda says in the forum index
MonteZuma Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Gee, all this time I thought you locked the topic. Ok smart!@#$%^&*, point out the person in this typical security camera image taken from your typical commercial security camera. Then identify features. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/josephgrant/sec1-101603.jpgI've seen much better cameras in many banks. Regardless - It is much safer for the criminal if he doesn't reveal any distinguishing features. Whether that be his gun, his face, the way he talks or the way he walks. Your picture is irrelevant. I've been going over some instances where the citizenty had been more well armed than the cops and had been able to help. There are many more examples where innocent people got '-*BAD WORD*-ed over' because the citizenry were better armed than the cops. The solution is to better arm the cops and take the arms out of the hands of the loonies. Not to rely on citizenry. Etc, Etc.If you cared enough to look objectively at this issue you'd see that more innocent people are killed accidentally or deliberately by hunting rifles - or 'armed citizenry' than are saved by them. Plain and simple fact. And...If your police force is inept, a better solution is to improve your police force.
madhaha Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 My points exactly and expressed very clearly. Thankyou. However, beware of using vaporous figures... I think its time we did some research of our own. Also note that in an objective trial where a robbery was filmed first with a typical CCTV camera and then a broadcast quality television camera, it was found that 60% of people misidentified the suspect even with the high quality camera. However, the make of gun and the way its held, bodylanguage, posture etc. is still accurately preserved by the cameras and this can be used as cir-*BAD WORD*-statial evidence.
