Bargeld Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Has anyone missed the obvious problem that downloading all this software and having all these autoupdates running might slow down his connection thus bringing us back to square 1? Only if you are on a P120 with dialup on a 33.6.
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Something funky happened when I uninstalled Continuum (V0.39 Pre-Release 1 and V0.38) on my computer and reinstalled it. IT DON'T WORK NOW. I have tried pings, traces, pc pitstop...the only item of interest I've uncovered so far is that if I disable Norton Firewall I get a slight improvement. Nothing else I've tried has made a difference. I also have Norton AntiVirus for what it's worth. Here's a copy of my trace:C:>tracert 64.85.65.229 Tracing route to 64.85.65.229 over a maximum of 30 hops 1 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms 10.96.64.1 2 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms fas1-0-0.ptldmecml-rtr01.nyroc.rr.com [24.25.160.185] 3 <10 ms 30 ms 10 ms pos1-3.ptldmeptl-rtr01.nyroc.rr.com [24.25.160.41] 4 20 ms 20 ms 20 ms pop1-new-P6-0.atdn.net [66.185.141.229] 5 20 ms 20 ms 20 ms bb2-new-P0-0.atdn.net [66.185.137.2] 6 20 ms 20 ms 20 ms bb1-nye-P4-0.atdn.net [66.185.152.196] 7 ms 20 ms 20 ms pop2-nye-P0-0.atdn.net [66.185.151.65] 8 20 ms 20 ms 21 ms dcr2-so-3-2-0.NewYork.cw.net [206.24.207.217] 9 ms 90 ms 90 ms acr2-loopback.Seattle.cw.net [208.172.82.62] 10 ms 90 ms ms bhr2-pos-0-0.Tukwilase2.cw.net [208.172.81.222] 11 ms 91 ms ms csr11-ve241.Tukwilase2.cw.net [216.34.64.42] 12 * * * Request timed out. 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 * * I'm on a cable connection.Ping avg 150 ms, low 100 ms, high 300 msPacket Loss S2c: .4% c2s: .4% I've played Continuum for months prior with no problem. Yupa Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 you've either got some registry problem from uninstalling/reinstalling (start > settings > control panel > add/remove programs) or perhaps some flaming virus next time please make a new post instead of replying to a long-dead thread
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 ok, i was trying to stay on topic on the firewall thing...(my problem seemed the same as the original post).I got some improvement finally..realized that with 4mb of motherboard based grahics I should turn off all sound and graphics options that I could. Ping now avg 81, low , high 90 and I can play. :-) See you in there!
