Juda$ Prie$t Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Ok, I had Continuum installed on my Windows 2000 O/S for about 7 months now, without a problem. Just recently I noticed my computer started running considerably slower, so I go into my task manager and Continuum.exe is on the list jumping around... I can't select it to end process. So I code my own process lister/detroyer, and it stopped jumping around, but it still won't close. Next step, I uninstalled Continuum from my system, and what do you know? The process Continuum.EXE is still here, jumping around.. and my memory is being used at 100%... I was wondering if anyone had this same problem or has a fix to this problem because this is on my work computer. I will attach a screen shot, please not that the CPU jumps around on this process from about 22% - 167% <--- that is the max I've seen. Any help would be appriciated... Again this only started happening about a week ago, and I have no installed anything for a long time, so I have no idea why this is happening...
Juda$ Prie$t Posted August 23, 2005 Author Report Posted August 23, 2005 Update: I finally managed to catch the jumpy process and closed it. the error is solved for now, still any news would be fine.
Bargeld Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 not a solution to the prob, but a couple comments/suggestions: 1) I've never heard of or seen a PC list CPU usage above 100%. If it is doing that for you, it is definately fishy. If you are referring to the PID (1680 in your screenshot) that is the 'Process ID'. 2) Sort the process list by "image name" in order to select a process easily. Do this by clicking the !@#$%^&*le bar for "image name", above the process list. 3) Uninstalling may not have been completely successful if continuum.exe was running during the time of uninstall. You can't delete an .exe or .dll etc if it is in use. Next time you want to do a full uninstall/reinstall, make sure you delete/move the entire Continuum directory, and then reinstall in a different directory.
»Maverick Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 This problem is more or less the same as discussed here;http://www.ssforum.net/c/index.php?showtopic=7484
Juda$ Prie$t Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 It's all good now, I was able to select it and close it before it jumped, and removed continuum successfully, peace.
