I have not seen MillenniumMan post any news regarding Continuum Next Level in a quite a while so I assume he is no longer working on the project. I believe that either Continuum Next Level will be finished and replace Continuum or the future of Continuum is death. As computer technology continues to grow, continuum will become more backwards. Eventually, even the fact that Continuum is free will not be enough to get new players. The current players will slowly stop playing and then Continuum will be a thing of the past. If it survives at all, its only as a simple game such as simple computer tennis is to our generation.

That is why I believe it is imperative that Continuum goes 3d. Subspace Version 2 will help to prolong Continuum's Death, this is still not enough. 2D game play just cannot compete with 3D game play. If you are still working on Continuum Next Level, MillenniumMan, please respond to this post so that the players of Continuum will still know that the project is still alive and can have something to hope for. The future of Subspace is in your hands.

you totally misunderstand continuum, astro.

CNL is dead, its not being worked on anymore.

You ever thought about what makes Continuum so much fun? Its because its 2D, the customizable gameplay, its free and the perfect chat features. If you make Continuum 3D, you will compare it to another Space game 3D Shooter like the starwars games; continuum will never be any better then that in 3D.

Making it 3D won't save Continuum, it will only be a chance of killing it even faster if everyone goes using CNL.

What Continuum needs is a better client, since the current Continuum is not being worked on alot anymore. Hackers / Cheaters keep taking advantage of this and slowly but surely destroy the game.

Well i know a lot of vets would say the same thing, Maverick, but thats the problem. Vets think its going to last forever. However, as gaming technology continues to progress, new people just will not find a point to playing this game.

The chat features do not help the new people because they do not know anyone in this game.

As for it being 2d, it just cannot compare with 3d games. You may believe that it is, but that is only because you are of an older generation that is used to 2d games.

With regards to being unable to compete with other 3d space games the answer is simple; CNL would be free.

Finally, for your point that it is customizable, that will not make a difference to new players as they do not know how to customize the gameplay and will not care to learn.

As for the existing members, they all will eventually grow up and get their own lives. A few of them still keep playing, but once that well dries up, what will be left?

Now, i agree that giving Continuum a better client will help, but this will not be a permanent solution.

I do agree with you, astro. But making Continuum 3D is a wrong approach imo, it would take the fun out of gameplay. There are alot of free 3D games already available.

2D will probably be extinct in the future, yes. However, Continuum still attracts new players until this day.

I still say it would be great to have a 3d continuum. I do not know of any free 3d space ship games, but even if there are a few, a 3d continuum would be a great compe!@#$%^&*ion to them.

I am not saying there should only be a 3d continuum. SOS's project should be great as long as it has plenty of new features and options for gameplay rather than just flagging knockoffs, ctf knockoffs, and soccer knockoffs.
